The concept of this book is simple. The reader follows the character through different things that she likes and explains why. The rhymes are fun, and I like the mixed-family representation in the book. The criticisms I have come more from a place of a teacher and are not about the story itself. It bothers me that the author uses “…” to connect one page to another but then the second part is a complete sentence. There are also times that the beat feels off, and I stumbled over the words when reading it aloud to my child. Again, nothing negative to say about the story itself, but I couldn’t get over some of the mechanics of the book.

Through illustrations and a comfortable easy rhyme scheme our little one shows and tells about so many things that are liked. Including crystalline sugar on a stick that is called "rock candy" in Wisconsin. Absolutely perfect within a program to overcome some forms of dyslexia.
The illustrations by the author are imaginative, colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, hospital, or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on PDF from BooksGoSocial via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is so cute and I loved the illustrations. My daughter struggles with going to sleep so I enjoyed the pages where she talked about having sorrow at bedtime but excited for all of the new adventures she’ll have tomorrow ❤️ I would definitely check this book out from our local library.

This book wasn't bad, but I didn't love it either.
The drawings were nicely done, but were a bit inconsistent in style. Each page looked like it was a different artist drawing the same characters, which took me out of enjoying the book fully. There were also some details that looked a bit weird with the drawings (ex. some tongues). But, the colors were bright and colorful, giving the book a very happy tone, which I liked.
One thing I was confused about was what age the main character was. At some points, the main character looked like a tween/teen. At other times, they seemed young, 6-10.
My last critique is there didn't seem like there was a clear story. Maybe that was what the author intended, but it just felt like the book didn't have a point. I couldn't find a message, moral, or resolution to a conflict.
In conclusion, this book was joyful, just a little rough around the edges.

This is a super cute kids book! I loved the illustrations and the diversity represented in the family and the bright, fun, colorful illustrations really worked well with the text on each page. There were a couple of references in the text to things that are more European in nature (Mum/Mummy and rock sticks?) - I wasn't sure what candy was being referred to in the first story - rock sticks of some sort?

I thought the rhyming gave the book a good cadence and could see my kids enjoying it. It did seem to me like the main character young girl had some inconsistencies in her illustration throughout the story. There were a few pages where her features looked a little inconsistent with the rest of the illustrations. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book to read.

I’ll start by saying the illustrations were beautiful and I especially enjoyed all the diversity in the book. With that, at times I felt as though the writing style was not always cohesive and I went back to reread, remembering that it is a rhyming book. All together, it is a great little book to read to younger students to engage them in conversation and apply lesson plans around the book
