4/5 stars.
A very cute and sweet story about the adventures of a lost toy and it's attempts to return to the child it loves.
What I Liked:
I really enjoyed the plot of this story! The way the whole internet banded together to try to reunite Libby and Mr. Trunks was so sweet, and the illustrations resembling social media posts was such a fun little touch to really capture the feel of the journey!
What I Didn't Like:
At times the text felt a bit disjointed. Flipping back and forth between text in Mr. Trunks' head and dialogue between other characters was not clearly marked apart from the color of the text, and extra explanation regarding who it talking at each point might be required when reading the story aloud to young children.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!

Thoughtful and sincere message to share what you are grateful for. Calming artwork. Portrays social media in a positive light that emphasises connections. Simple plot that shines through the consistent pacing. Flat characters that lack distinct characteristics. Voice of Mr. Trunks lacks wisdom but is abundant in hope. I wish there was a more detailed interaction between Libby and Baby; perhaps an additional page or two would further demonstrate friendship and home. Overall, a good read.

A sweet story about a child who loses her elephant stuffed animal, told from two perspectives. I love how it is made clear which perspective we are reading in from the text color. It's beautifully made, emotional, happy and also funny. The drawings are beautiful. I recommend!

I just reviewed Finding Mr. Trunks by Annemarie Riley Guertin. #FamiliusBooks #NetGalley
My 6 year old loved the book. His favourite part was when Mr Trunks reunited with Libby. It reminded him when he left his own teddy.
The flow was a bit confusing as jumped here and there but the concept of the book was from the viewpoint of Mr Trunks who had gotten lost from his owner Libby at the airport. He embarked on a journey with his temporary family who created social media memories. In the end his foster baby was rewarded with a similar elephant just like him which made him happy.

"Mr. Trunks" is an endearing children's book that tells the story of a stuffed elephant that gets separated from its child at the airport. The book centers around the power of social media and how it can be used to reunite lost items with their owners. The illustrations in this book are exceptional, featuring vibrant colours and beautiful depictions of travelling animals and people from diverse backgrounds.
While the book's central idea of showcasing the positive impact of social media on society is unique, one issue is the lack of specificity in the dialogue, which makes it challenging to determine who is speaking at times. This could potentially confuse the target audience, which is primarily children.
The book's use of Instagram-style posts is adorable and adds a relatable aspect to the story. The book's overall message is heartwarming, and it teaches children about the importance of kindness, resourcefulness, and perseverance.

Mr. Trunks is an adorable stuffie that gets separated from his child at the airport and the power of social media is used to try and reunite them. The illustrations are very well done, colorful and I love the diversity of the traveling people and animals in this story as well as the locations.
While the concept of showing the positivity of social media in a children’s book is unique, the story became muddled midway through. One reason for this is the lack of specification in the dialogue. It becomes unclear who is speaking at times, which can easily become confusing for the age group this book is geared towards. The Instagram type posts were cute and recognizable, however the social media language is a lot at once. My youngest children are 8 and 10, so it was easy to grasp that concept but may be harder for younger ages.
Overall this is a very cute children’s book that I think many will adore and fall in love with.
Feel free follow my social media accounts, I will be sharing my review of this book prior to the publishing date.

Thank you Netgalley and Familius publishing for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

A very sweet and lovely story about a toy elephant that gets lost at the airport. the book is cute and cuddly, was really engaging for my children to read. overall a pleasant book to read.

Book from Mr. Trunks perspective about a little girl name Libby who loses her stuffed animal at the airport. During this time Mr. Trunk was found by a baby who family took wonderful care of him. It showed the wonderful side of social media and how it can be used for good. This book had a wonderful ending. Thank you NetGalley and Annemarie Riley Guertin for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a fun adventure story with an underlying message.
What a fantastic story on how if social media is used responsibly then it can be an asset.
The illustrations were endearing and really added to the story.

Finding Mr. Trunks is a heartwarming story about a stuffed elephant named Mr. Trunks who is traveling with his family. While at the airport, his owner, Libby, accidentally lets go of him and the story of returning to her begins.
The story showed the true power of social media and how it can be used as a tool for good. Mr. Trunks found refuge in a new friend he referred to as ‘baby’, and with the help of their family and total strangers who shared his photo around the world, Mr. Trunks discovers not only new friends but a wild trip of his own.
This was such a sweet story that my daughter absolutely loved! Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read it!

I've read so many true stories of kids losing an important stuffie while traveling, and the people who found the stuffie taking good care of it and creating a photographic record of its adventures. This is a cute picture book of a stuffie who gets lost when his family goes on a trip and how well he's taken care of. The stuffie comforts a different baby in the meantime followed by a happy ending.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

The graphics and storyline were really cute but some of the time it was confusing about who was talking. Besides that me and the littles liked the story and recommend it.

This book was really cute, but a little hard to understand.
The main thing that made this book more confusing than it needed to be was the dialogue. There were little to no tags on pieces of dialogue, so it was very difficult to know who was talking at each point. The only time I knew who was talking was when it was in first person (Mr. Trunks) or it had a tag on it (i.e. Mom said).
As for the drawings, emotion was articulated beautifully through light and color. You could tell happy parts from sad parts, and energetic parts from slow parts. These choices helped a lot to move the story along with a good flow.
Lastly, the moral was great: return things that aren't yours to the rightful owner. This moral was also conveyed with ease and you did not have to search for it.
All in all a great book, it could just use a little more editing to make the dialogue more specific.

This was a cute modern story about a stuffie getting lost and using social media to find his way back home. I think many kids will enjoy this, however in my opinion, for the age group, there was too much about likes/shares and the actual workings of social media that I don’t want to expose my kids to at that age. I also didn’t like all the “click” because again, I don’t want my child early learning of social media to be about getting clicks. I think keeping it to be shared across phones and how connected the world is etc is awesome, but due to age group this is geared at and the detail of social media I wouldn’t read to my kids as is or recommend it.

I love this title!! Even though we try to shelter children from social media they are aware of what it going on around them. This title tells the story of Mr. Trunks and how he got lost, went on an exciting vacation, and used social media to find his way back to his loved ones! The hashtags, and social media terminology will resonate with the younger children, even if they are too young to how social media themselves.

5/5 Stars! Thanks, NetGalley and Familius for the eARC of Finding Mr. Trunks by Annemarie Riley Guertin.
Such a cute storyline! The pictures were easy to look at and just adorable. The story was too long for my kid's attention but I tried! haha, definitely a book I would like to try again when they're older. I was actually surprised at how much I liked this story of a lost stuffed animal finding his way home, but with the (positive) power of social media to help bring the toy back to its owner was just fun adventure.

Super cute book about a little plush toy that was separated from his girl, and with the help of social media and the family that found him, they reunit him with his family. After being dropped in a very busy airport he travels around Europe, and after much sightseeing they meet up at a airport to meet up with his family so he can go home.

I was surprisingly touched while reading this book about a lost stuffed animal trying to find his way back home. Initially the positive representation of social media in a small children's book made me uneasy, but in the end I was won over by the kindness of strangers. I always enjoy children's books which show humanity in a positive light - full of helpers & hopefulness.

Really cute kids book. All 3 of my kids ages 3,5 and 8 enjoyed listening. The social media aspect is understood by my 8 year old but not the younger two- which the book is clearly geared towards. Overall great illustration and cute story. Thanks to netgalley for this ARC.

Oh no, a missing stuffed animal has been left at airport security. It's the trials and tribulations Mr. Trunks has on his plight to find his favorite person, Libby. He gets grabbed by a baby and taken on a trip to Rome to see the Trevi fountain, a picture in front of the Colosseum. Mr. Trunks just keeps hoping Libby sees his pictures on the internet and finds him. Luckily when he gets back home to the airport Libby is waiting there with lots of fanfare to reclaim him from baby and take him home.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC.
