Finding Mr Trunks is a heartwarming story about the positive power of social media and people pulling together to return a young child's lovey.

In a highly relateable circumstance for many families, Libby's toy elephant Mr Trunks is lost at an airport. Picked up by a baby, Mr Trunks travels the world and becomes social media famous before being returned to his family.

This was a really sweet story, and a nice way of showing young children the way social media can unite people for a cause. It's a lovely reframe of a sad situation (losing a beloved toy), and I can see it being of great comfort to children in a similar situation! The illustrations are quirky and interesting - there's lots for children to explore on each page. I was immediately drawn in by the imagery on the cover, and I loved the surprise mix of animals and humans on vacation! It was fun to look at the instagram posts to try to figure out where Mr Trunks was.

Thank you Familius Books and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

Mr. Trunks is accidentally separated from Libby at the airport and is found by Baby who then takes him along on their trip! Oh no, will Mr. Trunks ever be reunited with Libby? Well, Libby’s family has shared online that he’s missing with the hashtag #findingMrTrunks and when Baby’s family posts a picture with Mr. Trunks in it, a helpful comment connects them so they can make plans to reunite them at the end of their vacation.

This book really highlights a positive of social media, that when a community comes together with a common goal it can help facilitate. The illustrations are quirky, emotive and irreverent with both humans and animals everywhere, living their lives. Loved the social media posts of Mr. Trunks being a tourist that hopefully gave Libby some comfort while they were separated.

Very sweet read that was reassuring for my kiddos as the thought of losing a friend has definitely been a concern when traveling. They were glad that these two families approached this with such thoughtfulness and compassion.

Thank you Netgalley for the digital ARC of this book.

I loved the illustrations in this book. Each of the characters were very unique, and I loved the quirky addition of other animals into the pictures and workers and tourists. It is a nice modern take on social media which is uplifting about the good it can do. The ending was also satisfying as all characters were happy in the end.

Cute story for kids not quite ready for The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Poor Mr. Trunks gets lost from his person, but has a wonderful adventure. I love this as an introduction to having students take pictures with their stuffed animals as they do different things. Students can make lots of connections with this book.

Sweet story that will bring a smile to children and parents alike.

A stuffed elephant gets left behind at the airport and a baby picks it up. Mr. Trunks, the stuffed elephant, is sad to have been separated from his child owner. The baby's parents are interested in reuniting Mr. Trunks with his child and use a hashtag Finding Mr Trunks.

For about a page my daughter was sad that a child would lose their beloved stuffed animal, but Mr. Trunks was distracted by the loving concern of his temporary family which comforted my daughter. The photos were sweet and whimsical with animals living among humans and traveling around the same way humans do. The use of social media to reunite the elephant and his child was a fun addition!

Highly recommend this charming children's story that blends whimsical artwork with the effortless connectivity of our modern world through the eyes of a child's lovey.

I thought that this was a really cute pucture book!

Finding Mr Trunks is a lovely little heartwarming story about the positive power of social media which is used to help locate Mr Trunks after he goes missing on holiday and is split up from his owner Libby.

The illustrations in the book are lovely and they work so well with the story - I am so pleased that they did find him as I lost a Beethoven toy myself on a plane when I was younger and we never found him.

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!
