I devoured this book with my daughter who is admittedly the one with more interest in and knowledge of things to create in the kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this was something that taught both of us, kept both of our interest, without making either of us feel as though class was being put on hold while she caught the novices up.

The photography was stunning and as a chocolate lover, it would be worth my while to own it for that alone. I wouldn’t though because they merely showcase what she has inspired you to create as she has taught you all you need to know to recreate the recipes yourself. It is unlikely yours will turn out as picture perfect as hers at first but with such a kind textbook to guide you, I certainly won't mind going back to try it again until I do perfect it.

Thank you to Michele Song, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley to read this book and educate myself better about a subject dear to my heart (and thighs). All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pictures are drool worthy. Going through this for the pictures alone was worth it. But the recipes were delicious and easy enough for a novice to attempt. Really enjoyed this one!

Pros: The title of this book was all I needed to know I wanted to read it! I love to bake, specifically chocolate desserts, so this book dedicated to chocolate is one I need on my cookbook shelf. Almost all of the recipes appear to be accessible to cooks of all experience levels. I appreciated the photographs throughout because it is so helpful for me to have a guide of what something should look like when I am trying it for the first time.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that I was not eating something chocolate while reading this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read this cookbook!

4.5 stars!

If you love chocolate and you love to bake, this is the cookbook for you!

Highly recommend for those bakers!

What an amazing cookbook. You can tell how much the author loves chocolate and baking with this well planned and organized cookbook. The book is arranged by type of item like pies, cookies, etc. Each recipe includes a screen-lickingly good photo of the finished recipe as well as clear, exact instructions and ingredient list. If you are a novice baker she includes an in-depth list of recommended equipment and ingredients at the beginning of the book. I love the little blurb that accompanies each recipe that may explain why the recipe was picked or why it’s important to the author.

I’d definitely purchase this cookbook for myself or a chocolate fan in my life. I will definitely be making either the yellow chocolate chip birthday cake or the strawberry white chocolate chantilly cake for my birthday this year!

**Thanks to the author and publisher for the e-ARC I received via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.**

Chocolate lover focuses on recipes all about chocolate and its many different forms. There is information on all the different varieties and how to work with chocolate. The cookbook is extremely clear on the procedures of chocolate making and the pictures are heavenly. Such good recipes.

The sections are Sweet Treats, Cookies, Brownies and Bars, Snacking Cakes, Celebration Cakes, Pies, and Tarts, Morning Treats, Fried and Chilled & Bakery Favorites.

Each recipe has a little recipe blurb, the ingredients, the amount, directions, storing procures (if needed), and many had variations plus a picture of the treat.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This cookbook is a must for any chocolate lover or even if you just really like chocolate. This book has recipes for anything you can think of that uses chocolate. There is a listing of every kind of chocolate there is. I didn't know there was a caramelized white chocolate, or a black cocoa powder. These things really sparked an interest. I have seen and heard on cooking shows that you have to melt chocolate just right and they go into detail how to do it correctly so you won't waste any of the precious chocolate. Because you know they are saying that there could be a shortage. I learned how to bloom cocoa powder. I didn't know there was such a thing. You add cocoa powder to a hot liquid to activate the rich chocolate flavor. It keeps it from being metallic. They describe how to make ganache. This is all before you get to those lovely recipes. There's all kinds of cookie recipes, all kinds of bars, cakes both of the festive and snacking variety, pies, and donuts. There were some items I had never heard of before even on the baking competitions. I can't wait. to get started. You'll find me in the kitchen.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. If you love chocolate, this book is for you. And the pictures are gorgeous. And the few recipes that I tired were very easy to follow.

This cookbook has everything to love!

The formatting is simple with clean, easy to read fonts. The book itself is informative. And while the recipes are all centered around chocolate, there’s a great variety in flavor profiles and textures, so it doesn’t get boring.

Also, can we talk about the photos that are included in this book?! They are stunning. The perfect mix of elegant and cozy.

Now, please excuse me while I shove some chocolate in my face.

So many options for chocolate lovers of all skill sets and abilities!

Love the first chapter of really accessible chocolate snacks. The snacking cake section made my mouth water so bad! And the pictures made it even worse 🤣

This book had a lot of recipes. Some were, what seemed like, already established ones. Although perhaps the ingredients are different, As the book is divided by what type of pastry is being made, it seems to jump back and forth between the simple and the difficult. There were also a lot of recipes that included nuts, I thank NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the advance read.

This is a chocolate lover's dream cookbook. I loved all the recipes and plan on buying this as I know that I will want to make these recipes over and over again!

This is me. Chocolate lover. Chocolate runs in my veins.

If there was a better time to ditch my paleo diet, I'd do it for this book.

Chocolate Lover hits all the sweet spots I look for in a cookbook:

1. It's all about chocolate
2. Gorgeous photos of nearly every recipe
3. Unique twists on familiar recipes like raspberry goat cheese swirl blondies
4. I want to make everything
5. I want to read it all over again.

Some of the recipes are labor intensive, including the recipes in the Bakery Favorites section, but anything worth doing is worth all the steps.

The author provides a tutorial on the many kinds of chocolate, the utensils and cookware needed to begin your chocolate culinary journey.

There's also a super helpful Chocolate Basics 101 that includes how to melt chocolate, making ganache, caramelizing white chocolate, and much much more!

Even if you don't like chocolate (who are these people? I don't want to be friends with people who don't love chocolate), I think there's something for everyone here.

Now I just need to find someone to make all these treats for me!

Photos were really nice, but maybe could have showed more details. The recipes were pretty unique for a baking cookbook, though some felt very simple. Recipes were easy to follow and I liked that the beginning had a breakdown of techniques/ingredients. The downside in my opinion was there weren’t alot of recipes so it may not be worth the money. When I get a cookbook, I want to make sure the money I spend adds solid value to my collection whether personal or professional.

Chocoholics everywhere will be rushing to pick up one of the most delightful chocolate cookbooks, Chocolate Lover: A Baking Book―Decadent Treats , by celebrated pastry chef and blogger (Studio Baked), Michelle Song. Since chocolate is one of the most important food groups to many of us, she has made cravings for it even stronger with her amazing recipes containing both dark, light, and white chocolate.

The recipes are written the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions to insure picture perfect success. The recipes are easy to follow, and both beginning and advanced cooks will have no trouble duplicating them. These are recipes most of us will dream about.

Song has included beautiful, professional photographs of most of the decadent baked goods. The recipes range from stand-by classics to unique baked goods; there is something for everyone here. Some of the recipes have a long list of ingredients and are time consuming; others are a bit faster to put together. The recipes actually work, though, and are well worth every minute spent in the kitchen.

All told, this cookbook is absolutely awesome! Anyone who bakes will form a queue that grows every time the book is opened. The cookbook belongs on the cookbook shelf of anyone who loves to bake and loves chocolate (which is most of us). It deserves more than five stars.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Don't we all just love chocolate? There's a lot of information in the beginning of this book about different types of chocolate and techniques, but I'm guessing people interested in this book are going to go right to the recipes.

The very first one that caught my eye was a recipe for Brown Butter - Chocolate Crispy Treats. I make Rice Krispy Treats fairly often. When I make this recipe, I'm sure my family will flip with joy. There are two other varieties, Peanut Butter Chocolate Treats and Bourbon Chocolate Treats. Hmm. Which to make first?

There are recipes for cookies, brownies, snacking cakes, celebration cakes (Strawberry White Chocolate Chantilly Cake sound good?), pies and tarts, morning treats, fried and chilled, and bakery favorites.

So many good things to eat! And so many mouthwatering photos.

I am sorry to my family for all the weight we are about to gain because I want to make EVERYTHING in this cookbook!

The sections are well thought out considering the whole cookbook is about chocolate. There is a section in the beginning that explains the different types of chocolate and their uses. I enjoyed reading about special methods for chocolate like caramelizing it. (I didn't know you could do that?!)

The pictures are beyond gorgeous and there is enough in there that my visual learning style is quite satiated. The diversity is simply stunning too. Utilizing everything from white chocolate to dark in bark to pies. I am so excited to get into this!!!
