I just couldn't get into this one. This is marketed as a slow burn but I guess the only "slow" thing about it is when they'll finally have sex. From the moment she laid eyes on him, she was lusting after him (which okay he's hot fine cool whatever) but then when it's his pov, he spends half his chapter lusting after her as well and the other half being annoyingly full of himself. I hate it when a character is lusting after the other but will deny themselves that person within the same breath. The concept was interesting but I just couldn't get with the execution.
I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed Mira and Will’s story. Both had something to prove, Will to the racing community who he let down with his reckless behavior and Mira to her father who she let down when she was involved in a scandal. Will is given a chance to race again by Lennox Motorsports which is owned by Mira’s father. Many years ago, Mira was involved romantically with a rival driver that ended badly. Will and Mira have an attraction to each other, but both resisted. Will to concentrate on his driving and Mira to redeem herself. I wanted them to get together and it is a slow burn until they finally did. It isn’t a smooth road, but in the end they both face their demons and end up together. Most sports books only touch on the sport itself and this book made me feel like I was in the middle of the action.
For the girlies in their formula 1 era. This was a fun read, a little too much focus on the F1 side than the romance side for what I was expecting, but I didn't get to hate traveling the world with Will and Mira and watching them go from coworkers to friends to *finally* giving into their feelings and becoming something more. I wanted a bit more chemistry and a bit more resolution to a couple of the obstacles but overall, a good story!
Thank you Netgalley and Zando for the ARC in exchange for my review!
Mira and Will make an excellent couple in this romantic novel. The plot is interesting and readers will find the story very compelling. Mira is trying her best to find her footing in world that has rejected her previously. Will is trying to make a come back after failing at his job. The dialogue is quick, witty and easy to understand. Readers will love the friends to lovers redemption arc of the characters.
If you like forbidden romance, workplace romance, and Formula 1 racing you’ll most likely enjoy this book.
This was a fun, fast read. It has a lot of details about F1 racing. I can appreciate how much research went into that, and it’s delivered in such a way that’s natural to the story.
I liked both Miranda and Will’s characters, but felt the chemistry between the two could have been better developed. I also would have loved to have seen more of an in depth resolution with Miranda and her father. Overall, though, it’s a decent book.
My first F1 romance!!!
Fast paced, spicy, & entertaining from start to finish. If I hadn’t had to stop for dinner, I would’ve read this book in one sitting. The authors writing style is so easy to digest & get lost in.
Things to know:
He’s an F1 driver
She’s the daughter of the head of the team
Instant attraction
Sneaky rendezvous
4.5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for an advanced reader copy!
Thank you to Zando Projects for the ARC.
3.5 stars.
Fast & Reckless is a sports romance with Formula One racing…and I know approximately nothing about this. Unless it happens in Talladega Nights, then shake and bake, baby.
Mira is the boss’ daughter who has been out of the racing world, laying low, since she was 16. She loves racing as much as her dad, so she’s been dying to get back. Will is the newest driver, who was the wunderkind a few years ago before he wasted his lackluster season on women and partying and is bound and determined to make it to the top. So naturally, they are drawn to each other because they both want no relationships.
I enjoyed their transition from friends to lovers and how both were open about their vulnerabilities and past trauma. Both Mira and Will grew as characters and had open communication. But I am side-eying her dad, man needs some therapy.
Overall, Fast & Reckless was a fun and quick read but not it wasn’t super memorable.
I actually didn't like this book when I first started it, but my opinion quickly changed! So if you're hesitant - KEEP READING!
This story had a great pace, limited miscommunication (what it had did not feel forced), and some really honest and genuine-feeling romance. We get to see it blossom from friendship and sparks to something more, and that was such a cool thing as a reader to watch!
I loved our main characters, but fell in love with so many of our supporting characters as well. They helped set the scene each and every time, and didn't just feel like meaningless set decoration.
This doesn't have too much spice, so if you like something with a spicy scene or two, this is perfect for you!
My only qualm was that time passed so quickly! We rarely had to watch the characters get themselves out of sticky situations as we would just skip to days or even weeks ahead. I would have loved to see more of the nitty gritty character building there, instead of explaining what happened afterward.
I think any fan of racing or Formula One should pick this up, even if you just think the sport looks cool and know nothing about it! This author does a great job of showing insider knowledge while also inviting everyone to the party. And, of course, it's a great romance!
Thank you so much to Zando publishing and NetGalley for the eARC, and for the opportunity to leave an honest, voluntary review.
My husband and I watch racing often, so this book was fun to read. I enjoyed the excitement of the race day happenings, the behind the scenes preparations, and definitely the drama that goes along with the high power of the Formula One sport. Loved Mira and Wills chemistry and the supporting characters. Such a great story to read!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
I have read a few racing romances over the years but this one was the most well-balanced of them all. It had the perfect amount of slow burn romance mixed with heart pounding racing scenes.
The best part was that if you have a genuine interest in racing but don't know all the technical language in that world, you will have no problem following and understanding this book. You will even learn things along the way because of how well the author breaks it down while still showing she has a good handle on the subject. The racing was riding ride alongside the romance through the entire book. That is just another example of how this story is balanced.
Slow burn romance is my favorite and the author does a great job with it. There is enough there to build the tension but have the push/pull of the romance the character thinks they shouldn't want but they do.
I also love that the male lead is strong but also shows a genuine caring side for someone who is battling a lot from her past. He supports her but lets her be a strong woman at the same time. They bring out the best in each other and heal each other. I loved it and I will be looking for more books out there from Amanda Weaver.
Perfect for F1/Nascar fans and anyone who likes a sports romance. This was a quick read with predictable outcomes but it was still fun and enjoyable~!
Super entertaining F1 Romance!
It may not stick with me but it was a fun time!
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
Quick & easy read. I've been following F1 racing for a short while so I was excited to read this. The love story/drama was very predictable but I enjoyed the read nonetheless.
This was my first time reading a romance novel about F1 racing, but it will not be the last. The female lead is the daughter of the team's principal and is completely off limits for the male lead. However, it does not stop them when a natural connection is formed between the two. The racing aspect of the story was fascinating and incorporated a sense of thrill/danger. There were times that I absolutely loved the writing of the novel, but I wish there would have been more written about what made the two fall for each other. The ending felt a little rushed. Overall, a good short book that I enjoyed reading!
Fast & Reckless by Amanda Weaver is a high-octane romance that races through the world of Formula One with a slow-burn intensity that’ll have readers gripping the wheel until the very end. The story follows Miranda Wentworth, who’s determined to redeem herself in the world of racing after a scandal derailed her teenage years. Her path to redemption collides with Will Hawley, a reformed bad boy driver with a burning desire to make it back to the top. Their chemistry is undeniable, but with a pact to keep things strictly professional, their attraction sparks a series of turbo-charged moments that veer into unexpected territory.
Weaver’s portrayal of the glamorous and gritty world of Formula One is both engaging and educational. Even if you’re not a racing enthusiast, the blend of trackside drama and heartfelt romance makes the book a page-turner. Miranda and Will’s journey is peppered with relatable struggles of moving past mistakes and the challenges of a relationship under public scrutiny. The supporting character, Violet, adds a refreshing dose of honesty and humor, turning her moments into highlights of the story.
While the book adeptly handles themes of redemption and the impact of past mistakes, it leaves a bit of skid marks on the emotional resolution. The final conflict and its fallout could have used more runway to fully explore the impact on the characters. Nonetheless, Fast & Reckless delivers an exhilarating ride with its charismatic leads and a story that races straight to the heart. With its engaging narrative and romantic tension, it's a must-read for anyone who enjoys their love stories with a side of speed.
As a fan of F1 romance books, I really enjoyed this story! It had some angst, some forbidden romance, and had some real life elements that made the book exciting. As a sports romance I’d say it’s about average, with a good amount of actual F1 racing information, but the one thing I didn’t necessarily see as much from the mmc was the character development as most of it was done off page before the main story begins. But regardless it was a good read!
I loved this book so much and I might be bias because I love f1 so much. Weaver has a way of being you into the f1 world without overwhelming if you are not an f1 fan. I was eating up the romance in this book! The driver seems cocky the fmc is not letting him know the cards that he holds.
This book is the perfect spicy sports romance to read in one sitting! This book follows Mira, an American working for her father’s F1 team in PR in London. She’s determined to make her father proud in her new position when she runs into the team’s new driver, Will. A hotshot, reckless new driver for the team. When they have instant chemistry the second they meet, Mira knows that she’s in trouble.
This book had it all, excitement, sweet romantic moments, spice and more! I enjoyed it so much and it was such a nice surprise! Read this in 1 sitting. For anyone who really liked Lauren Asher’s Dirty Air series, you’ll love this!
As a Formula 1 fan, it is surprisingly difficult to find romance books on it! There's an absolute fuckton of romance novels featuring football (ugh - so not my thing) but almost none that have hot people driving fast cars through tight turns and all the travel that comes with. Is it too much to ask for some variety in our sports romance selection? Why is 90% football or baseball or hockey? It's because America thinks all racing is Nascar, and Nascar is just not popular in the broad American taste, with the Southern over the top American woo woo flag connotation, which...honestly fair.
Anyway, I was excited to see this book come up on NetGalley because it had everything my little soul desires in a F1 romance: a floundering team ready to rise to the top again (with a truly believable English name, Lennox Motorsports....reminds me very much of Williams), and a friends-to-lovers forbidden romance between reformed party boy driver getting a second chance at becoming the Driver's Champ and the Team Principal's daughter. I have never hit request faster.
And the book delivered what was promised. But here's the downside: it was just okay. The writing was just okay, I wanted more racing, and the romance happened too fast, in my opinion. It wasn't so much friends-to-lovers, more so love at first sight but lets keep it hidden. So three stars from me. Entertaining, but I wanted more
I’m a huge a fan of Formula 1 racing romcoms. So when I saw “Fast & Reckless” available to request to read and review on NetGalley I knew I had to jump on it. And boy am I glad I did because Amanda Weaver did not disappoint.
“Fast & Reckless” nailed the tension and the high stakes world of Formula 1 racing. This book also did a great job of introducing us to some fantastic main characters that are both dealing with ghosts from their pasts.
My personal favorite has to be our MMC, Will Hawley, the resident Formula 1 bad boy. However, he wants to shake off that image, keep his head down and take home that championship win. So when the distraction comes in the form of our MFC Mira, the team’s new assistant who also happens to be his bosses daughter. Is the last thing Will needs. Now our girl Mira has her own inner demons to battle over her past in Formula 1 racing world. And the last thing she wants to do is ruin her career or her father’s company.
I cannot stress this enough how much I loved and recommendthis book. The characters had so much depth and the chemistry between them was off the charts. And on a side note I need a Violet spin off story just sayin ;)
Thank you to Zando and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
