I really, really enjoyed this action-packed adventure with Mira and Will. I'm not really a race fan but let me tell you, I love F1 racing romance. This book showcases the amazing travel that takes place in the F1 scene. But, the journey the two characters took was incredible in its own right. Highly recommend.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC. Can't wait to pick up a copy for the library!
Mira is both excited and nervous to re-enter the world of Formula One. Excited because racing is in her blood, and nervous because seven years ago she made a mistake that still haunts her to this day. This time around, she's determined to do everything right. And that means bad boy Will - the up and coming driver on the team - is all wrong for her, no matter how much their chemistry proves otherwise.

I devoured this book. Mira's backstory and the hurt/comfort scenes kept me turning pages at lightning speed. I'll admit that I was skeptical about the first few chapters but this book was amazing. I also related to Mira a lot more than I wanted to admit. I just wanted to hug her so badly. Will was so patient and had such a big heart. They were so good together.
If you are looking to get into F1 Romance, I'd highly recommend Fast & Reckless!
For me, I think this is like a 3.8. It was really cute and I like how Will isn't a complete tool like a lot of other MMCs. There were a lot of weird time jumps, which I get due to the races, but it felt like you were missing some information that would've made the story "pop" a little more. However, I know a lot of work went in to making sure the lingo was correct for all the F1 cars and races. It was really a sweet story.
Huge thank you to Net Galley, Amanda Weaver, and Zando for this ARC. I appreciate your trust in my honest reviews!
As a fan of Formula 1 and Romance books reading Amanda Weaver’s book was a no-brainer!!! Weaver’s research of the sport was so thorough, I learned quite a few new things from Will and Mira’s love story.
This was a fast enjoyable read, but unfortunately it was not as memorable as I was hoping. I had to look up the name of the characters after before writing this review.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5/5
I've never read a Formula One/racing sports romance before and this one was a great starter for me. Whenever I pick up books like these, I'm not expecting epic plot lines and super in depth character development but Weaver did a nice job developing the two main characters and their romance (which was the point of the book).
It follows Miranda (Mira) and Will - she's the daughter of the owner of the team and Will is their newest driver. They're both trying to escape their pasts but, as one would expect, both come crashing back into their lives. Mira was annoying for most of the book - her rationale with not wanting to fall for Will was frustrating and unrealistic but she came around. The open door scenes were nicely done and not forced. I enjoyed reading their blossoming relationship despite it speeding it very fast around 70% mark.
I only put this at a 4-star review since there are some major triggers that occur in the book (and aren't mentioned) - most notably a severe age gap romance (off-page) with one considered to be a minor in the US (Mira is 16 and the other dude is 30). I HATED reading about this and it made me so uncomfortable and it felt so wrong. I know that the author portrayed it as wrong but the way it was described in the book was that everyone in society and in the media basically put all the blame on the 16 year old and not the 30 year old grown man and I have a hard time thinking that would really happen these days. I feel most people would side with the 16 year old but maybe I'm naive. I just think the author could have written this a bit more sensitively and slightly differently (I don't think the underage thing was needed to add to the plot of the story - you could've made her 18).

Fast & Reckless by Amanda Weaver is my first racing sports romance & it definitely won't be the last. Miranda & Will both have pasts they're trying to forget as well as grow from, but they can't deny the chemistry between them, which makes for a great romance story. I personally think Violet needs her own story cause she's just a fun, outspoken side character I'd love to read more about.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book on #NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own, but please snatch this book when it gets released Sept 2024 & read it cause it's well written with a great balance of passion, drama, & romance that'll make you swoon.
In Fast & Reckless, Amanda Weaver invites readers to dive headfirst into the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing. From the smell of motor oil to the roar of aerodynamic cars speeding by, this New Adult-ish romance is steeped in the glitz, glamour, and dirty scandals that surround the F1 circuit.
It’s been a long time since I’ve picked up a racing book, largely because this particular sports category feels distant and hard to connect with. Yet, Fast & Reckless proved to be an easy read, living up to its title in both pacing and subject matter. The story centers on Will Hawley, a new driver trying to shed his scandalous past, and Miranda Wentworth, the daughter of a team leader with her own history of mistakes. Their forbidden romance quickly heats up, bringing with it all the drama and tabloid fodder you’d expect from a high-profile relationship in the F1 world.
Despite the book's engaging premise, I wasn’t entirely sold on the romance between Will and Miranda. While their chemistry was undeniable, their relationship moved from reckless infatuation to love declarations a bit too quickly for my taste. The push-pull dynamic and some of their less-than-mature actions made it hard for me to believe that their relationship would endure the external pressures of the racing world.
That said, Weaver’s detailed research into the F1 lifestyle—covering everything from the glamorous locations to the adrenaline-pumping action on the track—was impressive. These elements added a layer of authenticity that racing fans will likely appreciate.
Overall, Fast & Reckless is an entertaining read, particularly for those who love the world of Formula 1. While the romance didn’t fully win me over, the book’s fast pace and well-researched backdrop make it a worthwhile escape, especially for fans of the sport.
When Mira joins her dad’s F1 team she instantly captures the attention of Will, the team’s new driver and resident bad boy. The pair grow close as the team travels the world to the various races and events leading to a fling and then feelings. On top of their relationship, both are managing family expectations and the possibility of being the family disappointment.
Like the rest of the planet I became involved in F1 thanks to Drive to Survive, and am finding the F1 romances to be a fun trend. I could tell that Amanda did a lot of research into the world of F1 and getting details about the tracks, equipment, and culture right. I liked both Mira and Will. While their story was predictable bordering on formulaic, I enjoyed myself and read it quickly. I found Mira to be a much more compelling character than Will, but Will was honestly a very accurate depiction of the type of guy that makes it in F1. Overall I had a good time and am looking forward to the other F1 romances in my queue.

'Fast & Reckless' by Amanda Weaver is a fast read (pun intended). It's a fun, open door romance, set with Formula 1 racing as a backdrop. What sets it apart from other quick read romances for me is Weaver's attention to character development, as well as statements made about how women are portrayed in the Formula 1 world, as well as the press in general. Weaver asks some great questions about who is responsible, and how owning responsibility when one shouldn't can impact a person.
I freely admit to knowing nothing about Formula 1 racing going into this book, but I feel I learned a lot about the sport through reading 'Fast & Reckless.' I would happily read any other book Weaver wants to write set in this world.

Amanda Weaver nailed the tension and the high stakes world of F1 while deftly balancing the ghosts of her characters' pasts and the delicate balance of navigating a new relationship. Will Hawley is experiencing his second chance at his dream career - F1 driver. He loves nothing more than the thrill of the race and the rush of the win. The last thing Will needs is a distraction from his focus or for his past bad-boy behaviors to come back to haunt him...but when his team principal gets a new assistant, Mira, he can't seem to help himself from seeking her out. The problem? Mira is the daughter of said team principal, with her own sordid past to navigate.
Thank you to Zando, Amanda Weaver, and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Formula One meets romance in this quick, accessible read. It was cool to be able to learning about the sport without the feeling of it being shoved down my throat, the story itself didn’t quite do anything for me like usual sports romances. Mira's character arc was a highlight, and the romance was just enough. Sweet but not in your face smutty.
I was quite underwhelmed by the underdeveloped relationship with her dad, which was a significant plot point.
Overall, it was an ok read. I'd rate it 3.5 stars.
Thank you, NetGalley for this ARC
Smell the motor oil, inhale the fumes and cover your ears as the roar of the aerodynamic cars whizz by in Amanda Weaver's 'Fast & Reckless', a Formula 1 circuit-type New Adult-ish romance that is all about the glitz, glamour and the dirty scandals surrounding the hype.
I think I haven't read a racing book in ages and these for me, fall into the rare sports category that I tend to either ignore or pass because of my own inability to connect with the characters who live inside this particularly elite and impenetrable world. But 'Fast & Reckless' is an easy read just like the title and its subject matter suggest when a forbidden liaison between a new party-boy driver trying to shake off his own scandal-ridden history and a team leader's daughter trying to overcome her own past indiscretions puts everything on the team at stake.
Of course, Miranda Wentworth's and Will Hawley's flaming romance eventually starts to boil over the surface in a dramatic fashion only to become fodder for the tabloids.
I wasn't entirely sold on this particularly high-profile relationship to be honest: with the reckless yearning, the push-pull, the somewhat not-quite-grown-up antics and all. For some reason I couldn't quite believe that Miranda Wentworth and Will Hawley would still be sticking together past a few seasons when the external pressures start to break people apart...and that they'd moved from the hot, face-fanning pull of infatuation to love declarations so quickly just felt premature.
That said, I definitely liked Weaver's huge amount of research into the F1 locations, the way she'd written about F1, the process of moving from country to country and the actual action on track. It's a good few hours to you could lose yourself in however, more so if you're a racing fan who lives on these fumes.

This was such a great read! If you love Formula One, this book is for you. It's flowed so well and I can tell the author did her research. Will and Mira both are coming from pasts that haunt them. They are both wanting a second chance in F1 and want to prove themselves for different reasons. They have an instant chemistry and as much as Mira wants to deny it, she wants Will as much as he wants her.
It is a slow burn but the wait is so worth it especially when we get to see them grow their friendship first before they decide to jump into anything. They both help heal parts of each other and I loved reading how they developed as characters. I really did feel bad for what Mira went through and I loved how she finally came to terms with what happened and got her power back. She's such a strong character when she truly heals from her own trauma.
Overall this was such a great read and I really enjoyed it.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!
Mira is back working for her father's Formula 1 racing team, to redeem herself from a scandal she found herself in as a teenager. Will is the hot, new driver for the team, attempting to rid himself of his bad boy reputation. Traveling the world from race to race, Mira can't deny Will's advances and the closer they get, the more the past creeps up on them to destroy everything.
The word that kept popping to mind while reading was "formulaic". All the parts are there. I wanted to keep reading, but nothing wowed me.
The chemistry felt off between the characters and I think that weighs more on how Mira was written, her interiority, and her lack of self-awareness versus Will. It all seemed surface level and that something was missing.
If you like Formula One this book is for you, if you don't like Formula One this book is still for you. This is my first Amanda Weaver book and it won't be my last! She writes incredible characters and the romance between these two... one of my biggest pet peeves in books is communication breakdowns or when something could be easily solved if the main characters just spoke to each other, they talk to each other in this book! Actually, they communicate like grown-ups, not only that but the romance is believable and the issues they face in the racing world don't seem farfetched. The supporting characters are also great and *crossing my fingers* that Violet gets a book. This is a great book if you're looking for a fast past end of your seat read, that has passion, a little bit of drama and a happily ever after!
“He’d learned that love was worth the risk—that she was worth the risk.”
Fast and Reckless was a fun, emotional and gripping read that had me glued to the pages once I started. Will and Mira’s danced around the attraction that simmered beneath the surface of their every interaction. Mira had been burned in the past and her reluctance to risk her heart again was perfectly played and I loved how sweet, gentle and understanding Will was while also pushing her to face her fears. Full of swoony, flirty and snarky banter, emotional growth, angst, and fun heartfelt moments, Fast and Reckless is an addictive reading that will hook you into this sweet romance.
Amanda Weaver just received a new fan. Not only did I love the drama of Will and Mira's love story, but I am impressed with the Formula 1 logistics that were incorporated into it. I love racing so I was excited to read this story and it did not disappoint. A fast paced story from beginning to end!
This was an excellent book and as an ardent Formula 1 fan, I was skeptical that it would be authentic. I am very happy to have been proved wrong, and it is clear that Ms. Weaver researched this extensively. The story encapsulated the world of romance, and the heart pulsing speed of motor racing, and clearly showed how hard it is to be a woman in a male dominated industry. The characters lit up the pages and the friendship between Mira and Will really came across, showing the road to their romance. The backstory gave insight into why Mira was so gun shy about a relationship within F1 and really showed the pace of the Formula 1 world. This book checked all the boxes, with family, love, trust, lust and lots of heat! I loved this book, and really hope to read another of Ms. Weaver's books very soon.
This is how you do Formula One romance and do it well. The research that went into this really made each racing scene and team dynamic flow so smoothly. This also lent itself to the great writing and pacing of the story.
Will and Mira both knew what it was like to crash and burn, but their cautious and tenuous friendship and chemistry was perfect. It was insta lust but done well and gave plenty of tension and 'will they won't they'. I loved watching them fall and help heal each other. I also loved their maturity and communication through each hurdle.
I did want to see more of her relationship with her father as it was a big part of Mira's story, but it didn't fully take away from it as a whole. Violet as a side character was a fantastic friend to Mira and I want a book for her.
This was an all around fantastic read!
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Fast and Reckless is a exciting sports romance that 100% has my heart.
Needless to say, I absolutely adored this book. The story was the perfect slowburn, and there was just the right amount of F1 entertainment to feel fully immersed in the plot-lines.
When I began this book, I immediately fell in love with Will and Mira's dynamic. They had something so incredibly special, and I loved to see that spark grow throughout the entirety of the book. The way they had their singular duties, but were always there for each other in one way or another. Not to mention the way they fell recklessly and completely head over heels for each other. It was the sweetest most adorable pairing that I had read in a while, and I truly need more of them. Plus, when they were fighting their own demons, they came together and knew there was someone to talk to at all times. And honestly, I think that may have been the best part.
Now, if you were wondering if F1 is a more current factor in this story, it is. Furthermore, it was done absolutely perfectly. As a F1 fan, and overall enjoyer of hearing things about the sport at any given moment, I loved being able to see it written on paper. Even though it was only "written on paper" I could feel the excitement of the races, and action behind what made Lennox such a success. With that being said, I believe Lennox should become a read F1 team, and all the characters must become real life humans...
The side characters-
I loved all the side characters(for the most part). Violet was an absolute gem. The way that she had a spunky personality, and always had something to say resonates with me. All of those unique and special qualities are what made her perfect for the role that she had, and her spot as Mira's kind of best friend. She was hilarious, adventurous, and never ashamed of what she was saying. Additionally, the way that she constantly bullied Will into doing different press activities had me rolling over laughing. We definitely need to see more of her in the future.
However, something I did not love, and don't tend to with a lot of books, is the "I am leaving to help you" trope. Especially when in this case, Mira did it even though Will specifically told her it would not help in any way. However, I think the part about this that annoyed me the most is that Mira told her father that she disliked when he sent her back home to keep her safe. It is the same scenario, different font, and I felt that it seemed incredibly hypocritical of her. Why do something to someone that you did not like when it happened to you?
Other than that, I absolutely devoured this book and am incredibly excited to see what comes next!
Thank you to NetGally, Zando Publishing, and Amanda Weaver for the opportunity to experience this wonderful book!
