I absolutely loved this book! This author did an amazing job with the F1 aspects. Seriously can't wait for more by this author. Thank you to the publisher for this ARC.
I haven't found a lot of F1 racing romances so this was a real treat! I love a romance that delved into a sport that isn't widely talked about. This is on the lower angst side with enjoyable characters and heavier on the racing!
This was super cute! I actually really loved this a lot.
I read a lot of F1 romances, so I'm used to the usual tropes that come with these: bad boy driver, hiding from the press, etc etc. but I still found myself enjoying it despite the typical tropes! Will was super adorable and I loved seeing him try his hardest to be better. I also thought there was the "right" amount of spice. I would maybe put it at 2/5 or 2.5/5. Definitely open door and descriptive, but the scenes didn't last too long or take up too much of the story.
My one gripe (and it's super minor) is I would have liked a little more resolution between Mira and her dad. I know he said he didn't actually blame her all those years he blamed herself but he did tell her multiple times he was disappointed in her and was visibly annoyed when she would go out to the clubs. That disappointment/strictness with partying was very much "victim blaming" toward her and was kind of unfair. I really wish there was more grovel from her dad on that front, she deserved for him to really tell her how wrong he was to do that.
I will say, if you watch or follow F1, this book is probably the most accurate F1 romance I've ever read in that aspect. So many F1 romances skip major parts of the season, go out of order with the races, get major aspects of racing wrong, etc. but this book was NOT that! You could tell the author did her research. The terms and strategies were super in line with the reality of F1. It might feel like a bit of jargon if you're not into F1, but if you love it like me, it was a breath of fresh air to see it accurately represented without sacrificing the romance and lightness of the read!
Probably around 4.25 stars for me. Would definitely try this author out again and recommend this book to anyone, F1 fan or not!
I don’t normally read romance but this book sweet, exciting, emotional, steamy, and really enjoyable. I’ve never read a F1 book before but it was interesting reading about racing
If you like F1 romances then this book is for you. Definitely a lot more F1 content than some of the books I’ve read. The only thing that slightly ruined this book for me was the insta love between the characters I like a little more angst and will they won’t they. Still a really good read and I look forward to more from this author p
Oh thank God: Finally an F1 romance where the author seems to have actually seen a Grand Prix. The characters do have a weird insta-love thing that I generally find annoying, but, having been in the same physical space as an F1 driver at one point in my life? I can kinda see it.
"Fast & Reckless" by Amanda Weaver dives headfirst into the exhilarating world of Formula 1 racing, blending high-speed thrills with a simmering romance that captivates from the outset.
Weaver excels in balancing the pulse-pounding atmosphere of the racing circuit with the tender complexities of her characters' relationship. The chemistry between the mechanic and the driver is palpable, adding depth to their journey as they navigate personal ambition and mutual attraction against the backdrop of intense competition.
With its authentic portrayal of the F1 environment and well-rounded characters, "Fast & Reckless" stands out as a compelling read for fans of F1 romances. It's a story that seamlessly combines adrenaline-pumping action with heartfelt emotions, making it a standout in its genre.
Overall, Amanda Weaver delivers a memorable and satisfying romance that will appeal to both motorsport enthusiasts and romance readers alike. "Fast & Reckless" is undoubtedly one of the finest F1 romances I've had the pleasure of reading.
I absolutely loved this book! The writing was on=point, the tension was perfect, and the characters were truly fleshed out and engaging. My favorite thing about the book was the kindness and communication between characters, especially Will, who sometimes reacts emotionally but also later acknowledged if he pushed a boundary and worked to do better. This relationship was a great example of consent, communication, and kindness.
I went into the book knowing nothing about Formula One and really loved all the details-- it was just enough to be interesting and help me learn something, but not so much that it was "inside baseball" talk I didn't understand. I actually stayed up late watching F1 videos after finishing the book -- if you have seen them, look up pitstops! they're wild!!!
Thanks to Zando for this review copy and to the author for a great reading experience. I read this book over the course of a few very challenging travel days with my family and it was a great source of comfort and fun.
I've been waiting impatiently for the next Amanda Weaver book and oh, boy! Did she deliver. There have been a few F1 romances out lately, but this one clearly stands a cut above the rest (not to mention, it wins the grand prix in title design against all of them - what a beauty!!). It's passionate, carefully crafted, and clearly has deep respect for both romance readers and F1 fans.
So happy to have read this one!
I haven't read a lot of books about Formula One but my son is obsessed with racing so I thought I'd give this title a try. I liked the story, and I thought the author did a good job of creating the main characters. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I'd like to read more from Weaver!
