This book begins with a robot who fears something could be wrong with them. No matter how hard they try, they can’t work as fast as the others in the warehouse. One day when they are being sent somewhere, they discover something which changes them forever. A new world has been shown to them, and it gives them a brand new form of expression. As this book comes to a close, life at this warehouse will be changed forever.
When he ventures outside from the warehouse where he works, Robot discovers, not only a great, big, beautiful world, but a love of art. A desire to create has been kindled, but how to begin this painting thing . . . that's the problem.
I loved everything about this book, particularly the author's amazing artwork.
A robot is a failure at the job of moving boxes around a warehouse, so it is sent for reprogramming. Along the way it visits a museum and is inspired to become a great artist, painting abstracts that dazzle humans and other robots. In this unique look at AI (artificial intelligence), the message that art needs inspiration, not technology, is subtle but most readers will understand the point. The colored pencil artwork depicts the world in grayish blue except when some creativity happens and then bright color is added. A timely story that teachers can use to explain metaphor and symbolism.
Thank you to Netgalley and Charlesbridge for the digital arc
AI is a misunderstood robot who works in a warehouse, but do to his inability to stay on task, he is sent to be reprogrammed. Along the way, takes a wrong turn, and finds himself surrounded by music, color, dance. This is a story about discovering the color and beauty within yourself, and I would highly recommend “ARTificial Intelligence” to all who wish to cultivate creativity in their children and students of all ages.
"ARTificial Intelligence" is a wonderful book by David Biedrzyci.
Creative, imaginative, and a delightful tale of one that is just a little different than everyone else in all the best ways.
Visually stunning, vivid sketches, phenomenal transitioning from black & white to color, leaving the reader with an unforgettable magical glitter trail.
I highly recommend “ARTful Intelligence” to children of all ages as this will undoubtedly be a beloved classic for generations of children to come.
"This Robot has Big Dreams "
Since he was just a little chip, Robot knew he was different. Despite his efforts to fit in with the other robots, his daydreaming often disrupted their workflow. Following a poor evaluation, Robot was sent for reprogramming, only to discover a unique path to amazing creativity.
"ARTificial Intelligence" by David Biedrzycki explores the crossroad of art and artificial intelligence in a fun and engaging way. Through captivating illustrations and approachable language, the author highlights that AI can serve both as a tool and for creativity.
Ultimately, Robot's journey inspires readers to follow their passions and embrace what they love.
"ARTificial Intelligence" celebrates self-discovery, inspiration, and perseverance.
Ideal for curious , early elementary school readers.
Robot works in a factory. However he is made differently than the other robots. He gets distracted following orders and is sent to be deprogrammed. Once Robot escapes his grim life he explores the every day world. When he tries to bring the beauty of the world to the other robots they struggle to escape the confines of their programming.
This book does an excellent job of using color to highlight beauty and wonder. The splashes of color in the factory are beautiful. I really enjoyed the artwork a lot. This is a beautiful book about fighting against the places you are boxed into.
What a fun story about a robot breaking the rules and learning to live life. It's a good reminder to be who you are.
Thank you Charlesbridge and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this delightful book. Colorful, imaginative, and whimsical, this book celebrates the power of imagination and creativity. Such a fun read! Looking forward to sharing it with my students.
I love the idea of this book, so creative and innovative.
it's a beautiful book about being true to yourself and following your dreams.
The illustrations are stunning, and the robot main character is endearing.
I love how most of the other robots are so supportive of him and take a true interest in his passions.
lovely book!
An engaging story that shows we each have unique talents. The book is a great Art and robotics book. Teachers, students and families will read and reread this book!
My son and I loved this book. The book's overall theme is something I would love my son to learn. He loved when Robot could show Art to all of his friends. Would recommend this book to anyone.
A beautifully illustrated story about a Robot that wants to express itself through the wonder of art
The story was cute and highlighted the importance and difficulty of art and expression. However, I have mixed feelings about this solely because I don't believe AI has a place in art. I don't want it learning and copying the art world. But I can see the appeal of art and ROBOTS ! for kiddos. A decent story, just not for me or my kids.
Thanks to NetGalley and Charles bridge for the eARC!
Robot is ARTificial. He is a resourceful and imaginative robot, who values being true to himself.
And the fact that he wants to help others be themselves and inspires them stood out.
Cute drawings and lovely font too.
A cutely illustrated little story about an AI robot who learns he loves art instead of working, but I’m not so sure in today’s AI-controversial society that a book like this was really necessary. I don’t want AI making art while humans work, I want AI to do the work so humans can be making art.
Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.
This was beautifully written and illustrated. I love how the words were minimal and the art and color really told a lot of the story.
Lovely story of a warehouse robot who discovers a love for art, and how art can make life more beautiful. The illustrations add a lot to the minimal text, and the sparing use of color against a rather dark background is effective.
This book was good, but didn't hit the spot for me. I did love how it highlighted the importance of art!
ARTificial Intelligence was just OK. It had a lot of promise but the story was lacking some kid-friendly depth. There were some jumps in the story that lacked clarity and had my children asking questions about what was happening rather than curiosity about the robot or his interest in art. We love how the book ended, and the way the robot put his passions to good use, but it felt like there should be some more of the story line on the way to the finish.
What a cute story! Robot, in ARTificial Intelligence by David Biedrzycki feels a little different from everyone else and decides one day to go on an adventure to figure himself out. My kiddos in preschool loved talking about the beautiful sketches on every page and following along on Robot’s adventures.
