I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
I was able to read this because NetGalley provided with an arc. I loved this romantasy. Great Read. I would read more by this author.
Thank u netgally for providing an eARC.
The grammars in this book where to much. And i think the editing could have done better. but i loved the way this book has been written. It was an easy to read book and had some great tropes. I think this book is a great start of the series and shows that the autor has a creative mind and has great potential for the future.
2 stars rating. A bit boring at times, lacking plot, but still a cute and enjoyable experience overall.
The Forgotten Prince by Akira Varma offers readers a captivating blend of fae lore, romance, and action, creating an exciting adventure in a vividly imagined world. At the heart of the story is a mysterious, enchanting plot that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.
The story itself is well-constructed, following a traditional yet enjoyable fantasy arc. The combination of romance and fae intrigue gives it a refreshing twist, setting it apart from other stories in the genre. The world-building is detailed and immersive, allowing readers to easily get lost in the setting. The pacing is well-done, balancing moments of action with quieter, more emotional scenes.
The main female character (MFC) adds complexity to the plot, though she can be a little frustrating at times. Her development feels a bit uneven—there are moments where her choices may seem irritating or inconsistent, which can pull readers out of the narrative. However, as the story progresses, she grows, and her strengths become more apparent. The romantic subplot is woven nicely into the action, providing both tension and payoff in key moments.
One drawback is the noticeable number of spelling and grammar mistakes throughout the book. While these errors can be distracting, they do not significantly detract from the overall enjoyment of the story. The action scenes and romantic moments are engaging enough to keep readers hooked, even if the technical aspects of the writing could use polishing.
Overall, The Forgotten Prince is a strong entry in the fae fantasy genre. While the book has its flaws—primarily in the character development of the MFC and occasional spelling/grammar issues—it remains an enjoyable read for fans of fantasy romance. The world-building and plot are its biggest strengths, making it a worthwhile pick for anyone looking for a fast-paced, magical adventure.
A wonderful read that hit just the spot!
Not on the long side, but equally as satisfying, it was truly a treat and sweet beyond belief - with just enough spice to get you going, even when it's behind closed doors. There's mystery and suspense, and the whole "touch her and you die" trope which, let's be honest, is the kryptonite for all us romantasy girlies.
Also, we see the female lead's BFF go on a rescue journey with the male lead, arguing because they disagree on some things but still united because they both love Anya so much. I pity any foe they come across, they make a good team and Aleryn's PISSED!
For those of you not into the "insta-soulmate" trope, this might not be for you. But if you're like me, and dream of the one true love that was fated to be yours and knows it the minute he sees you -then dive right in. You're gonna love this story!
P.S.: Bring us more Theo in the next book, please, the grump is to die for!

“The Forgotten Prince” is a novella and book one in the “Thread of Fate” series. Quick and easy read! Since it is a novella, it doesn’t have as much world building and character development as a full novel would. Just something to keep in mind! I liked the concept of a fae realm prince hiding out in the mortal world. This story has an urban/contemporary vibe playing out mainly in the modern world. I would have liked more time spent in the fae realm but that’s my personal preference.
Fav tropes:
Fated mates ❤️
Fae 🧝
Banter 👀
Royalty 👑
Kidnapping
Court politics 🏰
Cliffhanger ⛰️
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Victory Editing for this book!
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was very excited to read this book. Who doesn’t love Fae & fated mates? I wish I liked it more. It started out promising and then just lost it. I understand it’s a short novella but it felt rushed. Also insta-lovey which is not my favorite trope. I think this just needed another round of editing. I understand ARC’s aren’t always the final version but it just seemed like it needed extra help. I would be interested in possibly reading more in the series.
The Forgotten Prince is about a mother’s love to protect her child at all cost. Ryn’s mother sacrificed herself so that Ryn could escape to the mortal world. Now many years later he falls in love with a human and the evil that his mother sacrificed herself to free him from has found where there are. That evil has kidnapped his love and his friend trying to force Ryn back to the fae world.
This story was very hard to read because it was in a format where the background is dark gray and the font is black no matter what setting you selected. I really enjoyed the very beginning, but wished that there was a bit more so that we as the reader would no more about what happened. Most of the story is just Ryn and Anya dating with nothing else really going on. Then the end of the story the action starts with Anya and Theo getting kidnapped, and then the story just stops. Overall the story was a little lackluster and the ending was a bit abrupt.
i really liked the worldbuilding in this! i found it very easy to follow and found myself connecting to the characters in a way that would happen more for me with a longer novel, so i was pleasantly surprised reading this!
i do wish it was a little longer as the ending really left me wanting more - i can’t wait to read more from this author and see how this story develops!
thank you so much to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc 🫶🏻
This was a cute read that was easy to digest and I was able to stay interested. As it’s a novella it’s fast paced and things happened quickly enough to hold my attention. There was intrigue and lots of characters that intrigued me.
The issue for me was the author was doing a lot of telling rather than showing- and not all of it was really things that needed to be stressed to the extent they were. It’s a common problem but in a novella you don’t have a lot of words to play with and it kept pulling me out of the story
Totally Interseting,
Very interesting Fae book, Great world building, Creativity, and well written. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens. It hits the spot, and leaves you wanting more. Totally worth the read.. Loved it..
The Forgotten Prince by Akira Varma is a really cool fantasy book about Aleryn "Ryn" Sinear, who got kicked out of his kingdom and left to die. But then he meets Anya, who owns a bakery, and they go on this wild journey of love, figuring out who they are, and Ryn trying to get back his place as prince.
Varma is really good at making characters with layers. It's awesome to see Ryn go from a prince who has fallen from grace to a leader who's determined. Anya is such a strong and tough hero - you can really connect with her and find inspiration from her. The other characters, like Anya's BFF Natasha and Ryn's wise advisor Theo, give the story so much more depth and detail.
Varma's writing is super poetic and interesting. The way they describe stuff really makes the world of Mairene come alive, drawing readers in with all its magic and mystery. The characters feel really real because of the natural dialogue, which helps build strong relationships between them. But some people might notice that the pace of the story can be a bit all over the place, with some parts feeling super quick and others dragging on a bit.
The book looks at stuff like forgiveness, figuring out who you are, and love being super important. Ryn's adventure shows how tough people can be and why it's crucial to be true to yourself. It also talks about power being tricky and the things you might have to give up to get it back.
Varma uses all kinds of cool writing tricks to make the story more interesting. Flashbacks give us important background info, and seeing things from both Ryn and Anya's views helps us understand the story better. And the symbolism, like the wings, makes the story even more meaningful.
The book is set up nicely, moving along in a logical way. But sometimes it speeds up or slows down randomly, which can mess with how much you enjoy reading it. Still, it's a fun book with enough action, love stuff, and character growth to keep you interested.
The Forgotten Prince is a really cool book for people who like fantasy and romance. Varma tells a sweet story about love and redemption mixed with some political drama, which I found pretty interesting. The pace might drag a bit at times, but the awesome characters and detailed world totally make up for it.
If you're into fantasy books with deep characters and a bit of romance, I'd totally suggest checking out The Forgotten Prince. It's the first book in the Thread of Fate series and I can't wait to see what happens next in the story.
it was good, it was not a book of my taste. The story was well based but the writing style was out of the question from the begging. It had some good parts but not enough to keep you until the end of the book
Thank you NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review. I feel so bad rating this so low but it just had so many issues 🙈😭
This felt like someone jotting down something for a creative writing class. It didn’t feel polished or edited in any way, although the bare bones of it are there… it just needs A LOT more work to develop the world and its characters as well as fix grammar issues.
There is so much repetition in the wording it was driving me crazy. The amount of times the MMC is described as having a “smirk” was wild. To the point that that’s all I can remember him by. Just a dude with a smirk. Surely, there are other ways to describe a "smirk vibe" (crossed arms, narrowed eyes, one side of his lip tugs up a bit etc.) The writing was just lazy!
Same with the FMC. She’s repeatedly described over and over as not being able to show she’s blushing because of her brown skin but then at one point her friend calls her out for blushing and says she looks SO red. Like wait a minute, this whole time the author drilled into us she can’t blush because of her brown skin?! The book had so many problems like this that weren’t making sense.
The whole thing was honestly confusing as hell but especially the love story. It seemed like they were just starting to be smitten with each other but then later on we are shocked to learn they’re boyfriend/girlfriend but have no idea when that happened and then even later they have their first kiss???? I’m so confused… I thought they had been dating for a while by then… ahhh!
I did like the prologue. It had potential! A forgotten fae prince who fled his land to live among humans. The prologue was the best part of the book with so many interesting bits of information but then nothing was followed through in the rest of the book and nothing was ever explained. It could have been amazing! Although the idea was great… it was executed poorly and was such a juvenile-feeling book. The two main characters acted like immature teenagers the whole time and it was really painful to read.
This would have been a DNF for me but thankfully it was a short book and I was able to power through until the end.
I love the idea for this book. The prologue was my favourite part. But overall I just feel it fell short of what I was expecting.
2.5 stars
The idea of this book was amazing and also the writing style itself wasn't bad. The last few chapters and the prologue were the best parts. Although I felt like a lot of context was missing in the beginning and the middle of the book. Sometimes I didn't even knew what was going on. But I would still happily read the next book cause the ending made me think of many ways how it could continue and I am excited to find out which one the author chose.
Overall, I liked the concept of this book and the characters, but it definitely needs significant editing and fleshing out. It felt more like I was beta reading a first draft rather than a finished story. While it has a lot of potential, it requires more work.
There was a lot of repetitiveness, with an overuse of character names and awkward sentences like, “Only for the excuse of using the weather as an excuse to stay in the house and read or watch her favorite shows.” Additionally, there were some slightly nonsensical sentences, such as, “Anya looked out from her mirror in her living at the car driving further away by the minute.”
I also felt like I didn't really get to know the characters, as they weren't fully fleshed out. They all have a lot of potential, but even by the end of the book, I could only tell you one thing about each character, and it's not very deep. Most of the information I learned was in the prologue, which takes place 30 years before the main story starts.
All in all, this book was mostly just okay but has a lot of potential. I will likely not be continuing the series unless the author does much more in terms of editing and rewrites.
I like the plot of this book but it just couldn’t hold my interest. I still want to find out what happens though so I’ll be looking for the second book.
This book is a very quick read Prologue, and I am a little on the fence with how I feel about it. I do think the story plot line was enticing and made me want to know more. However, it even though it was quick it was a little repetitive and also I felt as if the two different plot lines didn't really flow together. It was like a hard stop between the two. I did enjoy the cliffhanger and I am looking forward to see how the rest of the story evolves.
Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
