This is a tough book to get through. The prologue is solid and then it loses its steam. It turns into more of a love story which isn’t what the prologue suggests it will be. I can barely finish it due to frustration of the back and forth romance that’s taking place. I keep waiting for it to get to the action. (No spoiler) The writing is good but the prologue and most of the book don’t line up.
Short fast paced fantasy with sacrifices, fae, and fated mates. Easy read, captivating and finished in one sitting. I really enjoyed the characters and the connection between Anya and Ryn. I am eager to see more of their story.
The story follows Anya who hires a construction crew to build a shed for her and her best friend. She feels an immediate pulling connection to one of the workers, Aleryn, AKA Ryn. She falls for him not knowing that he is the banished fae prince with a target on him. The other fae will stop at nothing to get to him, even go after people he cares for.
Anya, the determined baker, and Aleryn, the enigmatic prince, are both relatable and endearing. Their forbidden love, filled with undeniable chemistry and mutual attraction, forms the emotional core of the story. The supporting characters, Natasha and Theo, add depth and humor to the narrative. Varma creates a vibrant and immersive world imbued with fae lore and ancient magic. The Kingdom of Mairene and the mortal lands are meticulously described, transporting readers to a realm of wonder and enchantment. Beyond the romantic plotline, the story explores themes of sacrifice and redemption. Aleryn's banishment and Anya's mother's desperate act set the stage for a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation. While the focus is on the love story, Varma also includes plenty of action and intrigue. Aleryn, with his banished status and scars, faces numerous threats and challenges that he must overcome with the help of Anya and her allies. This imaginative fantasy novel combines an enthralling love story with an engaging adventure. The detailed world-building and well-developed characters make this book a captivating read that will appeal to fans of fae tales, romance, and fantasy alike.
3.5⭐️ such a cute short read.
If it was a longer book it would definitely be rated higher!
Anya and Ryn are super cute, and I loved seeing how loyal Nat was!
I believe the author had a good plot in mind, but this novella was disappointing. I understand that novellas are shorter, but this book felt like a movie in fast-forward. There was no time to build up the characters or their relationships, and I could barely keep track of what was happening in the book. It was all happening so quickly. I feel like with more time and more detailIng this could have been much better than it was.
The Forgotten Prince is a short novella about Ryn, a Fae Prince who has been hiding in the mortal word since he was a baby as his uncle seized the throne from his family, and Anya, a human baker. After a riveting prologue, the first half of this novella reads like a contemporary romance meet-cute. This isn't my particular taste in books and so I found this first half boring. Thankfully the book is short and so it didn't really last long. The second half of the book dives right back into the fantasy realm and becomes quite exciting as Ryn's past catches up with him.
This book has fated mates, mild romance, and dual POV with the main FMC Anya and her best friend Nat. I actually really enjoyed Nat's chapters and kind of like her personality better than Anya.
I did find the writing to be pretty average, but it didn't get in the way of the overall flow of the book. This book does list the trigger warnings at the beginning (yay!) and does warn it ends with a cliffhanger. I would read the second book in the series once it comes out as the fantasy action and romance is definitely my preferred genre. If you want a blend of contemporary cute romance with Fae fantasy packed into a short novel then this book is for you!
This was quite poorly written. It was both rushed and repetitive, and I can't say that I cared about any of the characters, their relationships or even the plot. It got a bit better towards the end, but overall, this needed a lot more polishing and editing before being published.
What I loved :
The details
Lovable quotes
Quick read
Fast paced
Cliffhanger
What I didn’t like:
The writing was too young - juvenile for me
While I liked it was a quick read , the story Could have been longer to improve the issues
More editing needed
Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC of The Forgotten Prince in exchange for an honest review!
I normally don't reach for novellas, but the premise of this story had me extremely interested. Anya, the main character, seemingly gets much more than she asked for when she hires contractors to build a shed behind her bakery. She's swept up in a whirlwind romance with Aleryn, a handsome man with a not-so-heavenly past.
While I was interested in the plot, the writing felt pretty elementary to me. Aside from the decent amount of typos, grammatical errors, and repeating texts, the writing felt very surface level and at times, childish, ( the inability to see the main character blushing due to the "darkness" of her skin was mentioned multiple times). This bled into how the characters were perceived, with decisions seeming erroneous, timelines not being clearly explained, or characters knowing things they shouldn't because we never saw them explained.
Overall, this book could have benefitted from being 100-200 pages longer. We needed to believe in the love story between Anya and Aleryn and this title left us lacking.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Forgotten Prince by Akira Varma is a novella that tells the story of Aeryn, a fae prince who now lives as a carpenter in the human world, and Anya, a human baker.
There were aspects of the story I found intriguing, such as the description of the book which included baking and the fae, as well as the prologue.
Having said that, the book would benefit from additional editing to correct grammatical errors (such as pronoun errors), repetitive wording (example-on the first page of the prologue “chilled her to her bones” and “chilling her to her bones” were used within consecutive sentences), instances where the wrong word is used (example ”…who in their right might would make two trips to their car…” might should be mind), and to give the characters more complexity.

While I loved the concept of this books and enjoyed Anya and Nat. I found that Ryn felt boring, and Theo we know practically nothing about. I think this book needs major work. It felt rushed, and there was some major typo errors. For example "At least you have the new five days" when it reads like it should be "next five days", in chapter four there was a sentence where Nat was uncapitapized. In Chapter 9 "Hee" instead of "Her" and there were paragraphs or repeated sentences such as, in Chapter 10 "I just came back from the bakery. She's not there. The bakery is...." "The bakery is trashed. I'm just coming bsck from there. I couldn't find her at the bakery." In this particular case it could be blamed on the character panicking however it felt clunky.
They also completely skip over explaining the existence of fae, and both humans do not react to this revolation, even though nowhere in the world is it established that humans are aware of other realms existing. In Chapter 12, there was also "Your time is coming boy. He is coming for you, boy." Who talks like that?
I think Chapter 13 also needs some clearing uo since it's unclear what is actually happening to Anya. And if she is potentially being SA'd or groped, it needs to be stated and handled clearly and correctly.
I enjoyed the fact that this was short sweet and cozy. However it felt rushed, unfinished, and I do not see myself going back to read the sequel unless there is major improvements on the writing. It needs more editing. It reads like a wattpad book written by a high school student without an editor. I think, with some major work though, this could be a good book.
I gave it a 2 stars because despite all my complaints... I did enjoy it.
This novella unfortunately needs quite a few more rounds of editing. The writing is clunky, the punctuation is poor, and I didn't feel anything for the characters. I unfortunately did not finish this.
📚 Book Review: The Forgotten Prince by Akira Varma 📚
⭐️ Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️
📖 Synopsis:
A fae male (Ryn) meets a human baker (Anya) he builds a cooking shed for and falls in love because she is his mate. Ryn was banished from his homeland at an early age. He has a target on his head though and being with him puts a target on Anya’s head as well.
🖋️ My Thoughts:
It was a fun concept and the prologue hints at so much more to come.
👍 What I Liked:
- the insta love
- the baking details
- the badass bestie
👎 What I Didn't Like:
- the writing was a bit juvenile
- there were inconsistencies
- needs more copy editing
💬 Favorite Quote:
"Queen Samira’s last words still rang clear in his mind. Her last order to him. I promise. I promise he’ll never see the light of Mairene again."
🌟 Final Verdict:
It was ultimately not the book for me.

I devoured this cute, fast-paced fantasy novella! The writing was excellent, the pacing was perfect, and the cliffhanger left me eagerly anticipating more.
The story primarily follows Anya, a human living in the mortal world, who owns an adorable bakery with her incredibly loyal best friend, Natasha. One day, Anya meets the ridiculously handsome and sweet Ryn, and sparks fly instantly. Though I usually don’t like insta-love, the fantasy elements and other factors made it work for me in this story. Ryn, however, is hiding a secret, which Anya discovers in the most unfortunate way.
This book also reads as a cozy fantasy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, I think "The Forgotten Prince" did a great job introducing key characters and setting up an intriguing plot. I can't wait for the next installment!
I really enjoyed the story and the pacing of this book. It was fast enough to not be boring at all but not so fast you felt overly confused about the storyline. It was a nice and quick little read.
I did, however, pick up on a few typos and inconsistencies throughout the book, and some paragraphs/phrases were a bit repetitive. I would also have liked to see a bit more about the main characters relationship developing, as it jumps from them really just meeting over a couple weeks to suddenly being 4 months in. Also the very last page has the MMC's name wrong, there wasn't an Enzo in this book. I feel that a bit more editing would've given this book a higher overall rating, but overall a nice and easy read and I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.
The premise of the book is different, propelling readers into a cozy loving world all based on a mothers love. The writing style, characters and world building were wonderful! I truly enjoyed this read!
This was super cute and pretty fast paced. I was surprised with the pacing and loved it. Sometimes fae books, especially if they're a series, can be really slow and takes forever to get to the point. I didn't feel that way with the forgotten prince.
Anya’s is a mortal baker with her own shop who just seems like an all around sweet character with a pure heart. This book had some world building that I enjoyed to prepare for the next book. I enjoyed the story and I honestly could not put this book down. I’m dying for the next book.
A quick little 3-star read, perfect for a plane ride!!
Aleryn, Ryn to those who know him, is the crown prince of the fae, hidden away in the human realm by his mother to save his life. Anya is a human baker, living with her best friend Natasha, and running a small bakery in town. When the girls want a shed built in the backyard, Ryn is part of the crew- and Anya and he are drawn together instantly, almost like a mating bond perhaps….
As a novella, this book moves incredibly quickly. The hits are there, but we aren’t getting into things too deeply. I’m hoping as the series progresses, it gives us more because I want to know so much more about Anya and Nat’s friendship, Ryn’s background, and the faerie realm!! All in all, I enjoyed it but wish it had a little more oomph- this could be great as a full length novel or just more quickly available novellas!!

I love sweet how Ryn as it shown atas sikapnya ke Anya, laki-laki berbadan besar tapi sweet itu jarang loh such a Golden Retiever nih!
Anya = Female Main Character (Heroine)
Ryn = Male Main Character (Hero)
But overall🌟🌟🌟3/5 Stars from Me! Ending ceritanya ngegantung meskipun sudah di peringatkan oleh author dari awal buku, tapi plis author kasihanilah aku yang penasaran iniii dan berikanlah aku kisi-kisi kapan next book dirilis🥺
