Wonderful recipes! Perfect for trying new things. The recipes are well written and easy to follow. Not a ton of steps. The only thing keeping me from rating 5 stars is some ingredients may be harder to find everywhere.
I love trying new Mexican foods, but I’ve never tried Aguas Frescas or Paletas before. This beautiful cookbook, filled with stunning photos and several tasty recipes for non-alcoholic Mexican drinks and treats, makes it easy to enjoy them at home.. Looking forward to serving some of these next bbq.
Beautifully illustrated book with so many options to prepare aguas frescas and paletas. Made me nostalgic of my childhood in Mexico. I do wish it offer some alternatives for hard to find ingredients or substitutes.
Tried some of these and omg they are delicious! My kids won’t stop asking to make them more. I am trying all of them out.

Aguas Frescas & Paletas is one of the most gorgeous, well put together drink recipe books I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading through. The photos are beautiful and each recipe and photo has the ability to make you crave it with just one glance!
All of the recipes, while mouth-watering delicious, are extremely easy to make for beginners and the experienced chef. They also do not require any newfangled kitchen tools or appliances, which I truly appreciate.

Great job with this one, Ericka Sanchez. It’s a keeper for sure. I look forward to experiencing more of your amazing recipes in the future.
I’d like to give a huge thank you to NetGalley and Familius for gifting me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review!
Wow! There is every combination of fruit (and even a few vegetables) that I could possibly imagine combined into scrumptious drinks and frozen treats. There are new-to-me seasonings and other words in the book, but it all seems completely “doable”. I learned a lot just reading through the book! I think the thing I am most eager to try is the Chocolate Pops made with Mexican Chocolate. Or maybe it’s the Mint Blackberry Lemonade. Both looked delicious and the ingredients sounds just lovely.
The author gives so tips for making these recipes relevant for other times of the year besides just summer, such as adding cloves and cinnamon to a certain recipe. This will be a fun book for all seasons.
The book has about 40 recipes, almost evenly divided into agua frescas and paletas. Each recipe has beautiful, highly colorful photos. The recipes all sound good and refreshing.
The main reasons for my rating are that many of the recipes are complex, either in terms of flavor combos, ingredients, or both. The agua frescas especially tend to combine fruits and vegetables, or use what I would consider to be a specialty ingredient. These are not basic single fruit agua frescas. While many of the specialty ingredients get their own photos and descriptions, I am not sure people would be able to purchase all of them unless they are in a large city or have access to a hispanic grocery store. I'd been hoping for at least some basic or more simple recipes to start out with.
This cook book has a series of recipes for aguas frescas and paletas. This is the perfect book for summer, as you can really take advantage of some of the delicious produce available to craft the recipes. I found the recipes to have a good number of ingredients (you don't have to buy a bunch of weird stuff you won't use again) and the descriptions to be very straightforward. The pictures are beautiful and it would be a beautiful gift for your fruit-loving friend.
I love learning about food and drink from other cultures! Aguas Frescas & Paletas by
Ericka Sanchez is everything I ever wanted to know about making and serving these refreshing treats. There are clear definitions provided, as well as necessary equipment and best ingredients to use. The recipes are easy to follow along the pictures are bright and beautiful. The author provides her own memories or thoughts with each recipe, which in my opinion, adds to the originality and authenticity. There are some common concoctions as well some I would never have thought to put together. When you are desiring a refreshing fruit-based treat, grab this collection of recipes and enjoy!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
This marks the first book that I have read about paletas and aguas frescas, and I feel very fortunate to have come across it.
The recipes are practical, nuanced, and the book contains fabulous colours, photos and tips.
I adore Mexican food but have never tasted Aguas Frescas & Paletas. This gorgeous cookbook with stunning photos and 40 delicious recipes for non-alcoholic Mexican drinks and treats will allow me to make them at home. Hurrah. A wonderful gift for anyone who loves Mexican fare!
Talk about tense moments!

Thank you Ericka Sanchez for the amazing Aguas Frescas and Paletas book. Not only were the recipes interesting, but the design of the pages was beautiful. I loved the background on the ingredients as well. Wonderful addition to my kitchen.
Just looking at these images, I feel refreshed! I only discovered paletas and auga frescas in the last five or so years, and it has been a joy trying so many unique flavors. I was really excited to use this book to help my own experimentation with them. This recipe book is full of vibrant beautiful images, and I think seeing them digitally does not do them justice. I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The temperature is pushing 100 degrees F, and you need to cool down. Try these recipes. They're cold, refreshing, have surprising flavor combinations, and they don't take long to make. You may -- particularly if you live outside the Southwest -- need to search a little wider than your main supermarket for ingredients (chamoy sauce, dried hibiscus, prickly pear cactus, etc.) but there are plenty that use readily available materials. Highly recommended.
I loooved these recipes! They are so quick and easy. The instructions are very clear. I even love the little blurbs of background information or stories of the author. I also loved that it came with pictures of the final product. I will definitely be trying most of these recipes. I love to connect with my culture and this will definitely bring me back to my childhood.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
I received a free ebook from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
Mmm I’m getting thirsty just thinking about this book. The pictures are colourful and the recipes are easy to follow. I’m excited to try so many of these, especially the strawberry almond horchata, the lime pops, and the tricolour pops! The ingredients are fairly easy to find at markets and specialty shops, and having the correct ingredient ratios makes this a real winner, with space to make swaps and improvise! It’s a keeper!
Aguas Frescas & Paletas is the perfect summer cookbook full of vibrant and refreshing recipes to keep you cool all summer long, Aguas frescas and paletas are two of my favorite treats that I can now make in the comfort of my home. The recipes are easy to follow and use kitchen tools that everyone has lying around in their kitchen. Some of my favorite recipes include Strawberry Tres Leches Pops, Mango & Chamoy Pops, Minty Red Prickly Pear & Raspberry Cooler, and the Strawberry Almond Horchata.
This book is an absolute delight, from the images to the recipes themselves! A great cookbook or recipe needs to allow me to see the outcome visually. Similar to knowing the destination when I am driving or walking to a place, seeing a picture of the desired outcome of a recipe inspires me and provides me with direction. The Aguas Frescas & Paletas book has one of the most beautiful images of plates, desserts, and beverages, and the production value is superb! The recipes are well explained even to someone not of Mexican descent like me. This book is great and the recipes are so refreshing!
