This was such a heartwarming, I loved the characters and the way that their love story blossomed, and their ability to try and move on after the trauma and emotions that they have both been through.
Darcy meets Carter when her car won't start before shes off to a meeting for work and then they keep meeting spontaneously and eventually love begins to blossom. They are just the cutest.
I also lived the fact that you could tell the author was so connected to the story, with her husbands experience of a kidney transplant.
Thank you NetGallery for the advanced audio copy of Finding You, in exchange for an honest review.
The first book I read by Amy Clipston was the first book I remember that made me SOB, so I was so excited for this one, but I felt like it fell flat. Darcy and Carter are falling for each other, they both had kidney transplants, and they’re both afraid to tell the other about their medical issues. I felt like both characters were so immature, and if they had just opened their mouths, everything would have been fine. Carter was a very depressing character and was always so down on himself (“oh woe is me” vibes) that his perspective was hard to read. And he got mad at Darcy and ended their relationship for doing the exact thing he was doing to her. It was sooooo frustrating, because their love story had great potential, but their immaturity ruined everything. It felt more like I was reading about teenagers than fully-grown adults. The resolution was also way too fast. I would honestly skip this one 🤷🏼♀️
Many thanks to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the opportunity to read before pub day! ALC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. FINDING YOU is out now!
I’m so thankful to of had the opportunity to listen tot his ARC. I got 64% of the way through and unfortunately I’m going to have to stop there. It’s not grabbing my attention. I feel as if I’m forcing myself to read it. I found it to be very predictable. It’s a sweet story for someone that may not read a lot or maybe wants to dip their toe into contemporary or Christian romance. Although I think this book will be great for a lot of people it’s just not meant for me.
this book was cute but boring. sweet but forgettable. a quick easy read but nothing to recommend. it was just meh. I honestly don't remember much about it.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC audiobook in exchange for my honest review!
Darcy lost her fiancé in a car accident. She feels guilty because he was on his way to pick up her medicines and the grief is a constant struggle. She's basically given up on love and then a chance encounter leads her to Carter. This book was good; however, Carter and Darcy are too positive and super upbeat about everything. Not realistic and it got annoying but overall, the story was good. Predictable, but good. The narration was good and did add a lot to the story.
First of all, the narrator does a great job with this audiobook. Having said that, this book is a powerhouse! Wow! The first half seemed to be your typical (clean) romance....damsel in distress, boy rescues girl, they begin a love story. The second half sneaks up on you and will whisk you off your feet, leaving you amazed and slightly dazed in the best of ways. The author introduces several tough topics like organ donation, adoption, and losing loved ones, and as each element was added I wondered how she could do justice to them all in one story. Character development was great and had a good but honest balance of emotions as they each walk through their journeys from different perspectives. I had no reason to worry-she nailed it! Highly recommend this audiobook!
Another sweet love story!
Amy Clioston is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Focusing on the relationship and leaving *** out of the equation.
A chance encounter in a parkinglot Carter helped a Damsel in distress.
Events unfold to reveal a startling past for both characters. Realizing their lives are very similar they need to process the past to have a future.
Story of Love and triumph. This story is hallmark channel bound!
Darcy is still grieving the death of her fiancé - still blaming herself. Though she’s feeling much better after her kidney transplant, she worries about what the future will hold.
A chance meeting leads her to Carter, who is handsome and kind. But Carter is drowning in debt from medical issues, and he feels unworthy after his girlfriend left him when he became sick.
Neither of them discloses that they have had health issues, so while there is definitely an instant attraction, secrets are getting in the way.
If you enjoy Hallmark movies, you will love this book. It’s romantic and tender, and it touches on very serious topics such as kidney disease, grief and loss, and adoption. While Darcy and Carter are the central focus, I loved how their family members were so involved. It was like a big hug—sweet and heartwarming.
Thank you @tlcbooktours @tnzfiction and @amy_clipston for a spot on tour and these gifted books.
Thank you @harpercollinschristian for the gifted audiobook.
Sweet, yet heartbreaking at times!
BUT…I did want to smack both main characters in the head…several times!
Cmon guys… can’t you see that what you have is special?? Open your eyes!!! 👀
So, Darcy remains heartbroken 💔 after losing her fiancé in a freak accident a couple of years ago.
Carter is also heartbroken after his girlfriend, who he thought he’d spend the rest of his life with, dumped him after she realized that he was going to need medical care, and some help, after a horrible diagnosis. (Good riddance to her! Don’t let the door 🚪…well, you know the rest…)
So, when the two of them meet up randomly, after Darcy’s car 🚗 won’t start… well, that’s just karma, no??
But…they are both carrying so much weight on their shoulders, that they don’t see what’s right in front of them!
Thank God for family and friends, who help to guide them along the way.
Additionally, they are both going through some family hardships too…so again, a lot of baggage with this one. But wow, makes you really appreciate what you have in life! 🙏🏼😮🤞🏼😊
Oh, and the butterflies 🦋 🦋…I never knew that either! 😮
Thanks to #NetGalley, #ThomasNelson and #HarperCollinsChristianPublishing for an ARC of the audiobook which was already released on 7/9/24.

Darcy Larsen’s fiancé died in a car accident eighteen months ago; he was on his way to pick up her medicine from the pharmacy. Eighteen long months filled with grief, pain and guilt. She missed him, she loved him. Darcy is having trouble letting go; she doesn’t believe she will ever open her heart to love again.
Carter Donovan is thankful for the kidney that saved his life, he is also thankful for the donor. Carter feels a bit guilty for someone had to die so that he could live. He knew the family of the donor were mourning. He is drowning in debt from the medical bills. He wants to move on with his life.
Perhaps it was fate when Darcy’s car broke down in the parking lot of a medical center and she was going to be late for work. She didn’t have anyone to call for help, They became quick friends. Both Darcy and Carter feel like they can breathe again as they look toward a future. As they become closer, they open up to each other sharing their expectations, doubts and histories. Carter suspects his kidney came from Darcy’s fiancé. Can their relationship survive?
This is the first book in a new series. It is beautiful written. The author has indicated that the story is loosely based on her own life.
Thank you NetGalley for providing a copy for review.
Finding You by Amy Clipston was a touching story of healing after loss and devastation. It is a clean romance filled with unexpected, life-changing events that tie the main characters to one another. There were lots of things about this story that were predictable for me, and at times I found it to drag and be repetitive, but it was an easy, feel good, “happily ever after” read and I did enjoy it.
Finding You grabs your heart as the main characters overcome hard moments in their lives both independently and finally together. You can’t help, becoming invested in their stories and wishing great things for them.
The Scoop:
On the outside, twenty-seven-year-old Darcy Larsen is a pretty, put-together professional—but inside she’s falling apart. Eighteen months ago, she lost her fiancé in an accident she still blames herself for. After a successful transplant, her kidney disease seems to be in check, but she worries that her future children—if she has any—will also suffer from the same condition. And she’s overcome with indecision about finding her birth mother, discovering potentially devastating information, and hurting her adoptive parents.
Mechanic Carter Donovan seems to have everything going for him at first glance. Stunning good looks. A wicked sense of humor. And a heart of gold. But Carter’s seemingly perfect exterior hides a host of secrets. After a rough breakup and mounting medical bills from a medical emergency that left him drowning in debt, he doesn’t feel like the catch everyone says he is. Plus, he’s about to turn thirty—with no romantic prospects on the horizon.
When Darcy’s Lexus breaks down in her doctor’s parking lot, Carter appears on the scene to try to jump-start her car—and her heart. But despite their immediate connection right from the start, the two have perhaps too many obstacles to overcome. Carter questions if getting involved with Darcy will be his next big mistake. And Darcy wonders if she can ever move past her grief and guilt to embrace the gift of Happily Ever After that’s dangling in front of her.
Fave quote:
“That’s the thing about love, man. It changes you. When you find it, your life will be transformed forever. Don’t be afraid to let yourself experience it. It happens when you least expect it.”
3.5*...this was a perfectly, but predictably nice, clean romance. The chemistry between Carter and Darcy was evident from the start. They both have a past that remarkably has some coincidences as well. Carter will try to overcome his self-worth as Darcy struggles with a tragedy and moving forward. I thought it was written well with lots of dialogue and a complete cast of mostly likable characters.
This is my first Amy Clipston novel...she is mostly a master of Amish novels, but I will also look into her stand-alone contemporary books next.
I listened to the audio version of this book and felt the narrator captured all the characters with a pleasant reading style. I personally always like to know if they take away or add to the storyline.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for this ARC.
Finding You was a sweet heart warming book about second chances. Darcy and Carter’s relationship was refreshing. I enjoyed the book and loved the character development Thank you Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for my review.
Finding You is the fourth book with ties to Flowering Grove, NC, by Amy Clipston. Darcy Larsen has had a couple of very difficult years. Today she was given good news from her nephrologist that all of her numbers were good as she is at the second anniversary of her kidney transplant. But afterwards her car would not start and Darcy had an important presentation coming up at work. As her starter fails her, a handsome stranger knocks on her window to ask if he can help. He offers to jump her car to get it started, but the car needs more. Professional mechanic Carter Donovan then offers to have her car towed wherever she would like as well as a lift to her office. Darcy follows her instincts and thanks Carter for his help, having the car towed to his family’s shop and accepting his offer of a ride.
Besides when Darcy picks up her repaired vehicle, her path crosses Carter’s again at a car show soon after their meeting in Flowering Grove, then again at a friend’s housewarming a couple of weeks later. With a special attraction, their relationship grows until secrets they both hold threaten to tear them apart.
This is a very good story treating some sensitive issues (organ transplant, adoption, parental desertion) in a gentle manner. Ms. Clipston does an excellent job of presenting this tale for which she has a very personal connection. I was really drawn into this story and I do recommend it!
"Wait...can I get your number?"
"...I think you're really cute, Carter...but I'm not really dating right now."
"Oh, I meant that I need to text you about the car." He grinned. "But I think you're cute too."
So begins the sweetest emotional romance between Darcy and Carter in the heartfelt Finding You by bestselling contemporary author Amy Clipston.
After leaving her doctor's office Darcy's car won't start. Luckily, Carter sees her and has the car towed to his garage. Despite her determination to not be in a relationship, she can't deny their immediate connection.
Darcy is dealing with so much loss. Her fiance died in a car accident 18 months ago on his way to pick up the meds she forgot. He was also part of a pair donor exchange. He donated a kidney to someone and in exchange someone donated a kidney to Darcy, saving her life. The guilt is overwhelming her.
Carter's in serious debt, living with his sister and her boyfriend, working all the time at the garage. He feels he can't afford a life with Darcy.
I listened and read this beautiful love story simultaneously and it was an emotional experience. Hearing voice actress Melissa Moran well up with tears as Darcy or breakdown during Carter's frustration tore through me. As they find their way to each other, they need to find trust. Carter doesn't know about her transplant and she doesn't know why he was in the doctor's parking lot the day they met.
This writer took her personal story and with a pure heart wrote about those poignant moments of finding the courage to trust, to love again, not just another, but yourself.
I received a free copy of this book/audiobook from the publishers & author via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
A touching romance full of heartache and hope. Particularly poignant given the author’s personal experience with the subject matter. Made the read that much more impactful since she obviously captured all the emotional nuances.
‘Finding You’ is pure romance that starts with Darcy and Carter’s unexpected meet-cute and gently evolves into a cautious exploration of deepening feelings…BUT…as in all good romantic fiction…there are complications! Unusually challenging ones, in fact, and Clipston did a wonderful job of driving me crazy as this heroine and her hero battle insecurities and secrets. 🙂
I could understand their hesitancy but, I couldn’t help becoming frustrated over their trust issues. Of course, as the reader, I had the advantage of being aware of both Darcy and Carter’s inner most thoughts so trusting either of them wasn’t an issue for me…until it was! The author did a fantastic job with pacing and plot which included some memorable secondary characters who help our hero and heroine navigate their way to a hard-won happily-ever-after.
I listened to the audio edition and really enjoyed narrator Melissa Moran’s performance. She breathed life into these characters and related their story with warmth and compassion. A pleasant, easy-to-listen to ‘reading’ experience.
My thanks to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio as well as Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.
The writing style of the author was easy breezy and being my second read from the author, i absolutely enjoyed it to the core.
The characters were amazing and charming at the same time. The plotline was well paced and from starting to ending, it was well written and executed.
I absolutely loved the lead characters in this book.

Finding You was such a beautiful and touching story, and I knew as soon as I read the Author’s Note that this book had me hooked. Amy Clipston has written such a heartwarming and personal story about fate and I promise you that this one is going to stick with you.
From the outside looking in, Darcy seems to have her life put together. But that could not be farther from the truth. She lost her fiancé less than two years ago in a tragic accident. On top of that, despite the fact that she had a successful kidney transplant, she’s worried that any future children will suffer from the same condition. Carter also seems to have his life put together. He’s a mechanic, but a bad breakup and some medical bills have put him in debt. When Darcy’s car breaks down in her doctor’s parking lot, Carter is there to save the day and the two instantly hit it off. But despite the connection, there are many obstacles that the two have to overcome in order to see make their happily ever after.

Finding You is a cute contemporary Christian romance. Darcy and Carter find themselves growing more attached as their relationship grows. But they each are withholding a huge secret from the other: they both received kidney transplants that saved their lives. Their romance was sweet and heartfelt. I enjoyed reading this book! I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in trade for my honest opinion. My thoughts are my own.
