Description

Both of them want a relationship—but is beginning it a big mistake?

On the outside, twenty-seven-year-old Darcy Larsen is a pretty, put-together professional—but inside she’s falling apart. Eighteen months ago, she lost her fiancé in an accident she still blames herself for. After a successful transplant, her kidney disease seems to be in check, but she worries that her future children—if she has any—will also suffer from the same condition. And she’s overcome with indecision about finding her birth mother, discovering potentially devastating information, and hurting her adoptive parents.

Mechanic Carter Donovan seems to have everything going for him at first glance. Stunning good looks. A wicked sense of humor. And a heart of gold. But Carter’s seemingly perfect exterior hides a host of secrets. After a rough breakup and mounting medical bills from a medical emergency that left him drowning in debt, he doesn’t feel like the catch everyone says he is. Plus, he’s about to turn thirty—with no romantic prospects on the horizon.

When Darcy’s Lexus breaks down in her doctor’s parking lot, Carter appears on the scene to try to jump-start her car—and her heart. But despite their immediate connection right from the start, the two have perhaps too many obstacles to overcome. Carter questions if getting involved with Darcy will be his next big mistake. And Darcy wonders if she can ever move past her grief and guilt to embrace the gift of Happily Ever After that’s dangling in front of her.

This is not my first time reading something by Amy Clipston. I usually enjoy her Amish love stories, so I thought that I’d give this new book of hers a try. I really enjoy reading her books because she is a North Carolina author and includes towns that are familiar to me. I don’t read the book description before requesting or reading a book - I want each one to be a surprise adventure! This book definitely did not disappoint!

Clipston writes clean romance stories and Finding You is based on something is familiar to her. Darcy meets Carter after her car won’t start and they have an instant connection. Will they both be able to put their pasts and health issues behind them?
Without spoiling the story for others, I’m just going to tell you that you will be surprised at some of the twists and turns that this book takes, but go ahead and ENJOY THE RIDE!

The story of Darcy Larsen and Carter Donovan is one that will touch your hearts from the beginning to the end.
Darcy lost her fiance in an accident, shortly after she received a kidney from a donor. Almost 2 years later, she still not only mourns his death, but also the guilt of his death is a constant in her life.
Carter was seriously ill until a kidney was donated and though it’s given him a second chance in life, it has left him in deep debt.
By chance, these two meet when Darcy’s car breaks down and Carter comes to her rescue.
From that moment on, the attraction was evident but these two are keeping a secret that could change everything.
Will they survive the revelation? If so, can they move on ? Will they give their love a chance and realize that in the sorrow, they have also been given a second chance not only in love , and life, but also in a future together?
This was a touching story that at times was heartbreaking as well as heartwarming. The author touches on many sensitive subjects such as adoption, kidney donation, and abandonment. Her comments about kidney donation were enlightening as well as educational and very revealing.
I loved this story and have now added this author in my TBR list.
Lastly, Melissa Moran, the narrator, did a wonderful job with the various voices.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This book had a profound impact on me. It was an emotional rollercoaster, skillfully blending moments of sorrow with uplifting, heartwarming scenes. I found myself deeply moved, even to the point of tears, as the story unfolded.

The characters were exceptionally well-developed, each with their unique charm and depth. I felt a genuine connection to them, almost as if they were old friends. Their struggles, joys, and growth throughout the narrative resonated with me on a personal level, making their journeys incredibly compelling.

What I appreciated most about this book was its ability to balance the sadness with hope and love. Despite the moments of heartache, there was always a sense of warmth and resilience that shone through. It was this delicate interplay of emotions that made the story so memorable and impactful.

Overall, this book was a beautiful experience. The blend of heartfelt sorrow and uplifting moments, combined with wonderfully crafted characters, created a story that will stay with me for a long time. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a poignant and heartwarming read.

Readers who enjoy clean romance stories will like this one. The narrator does a great job telling the story. The author's personal experience with kidney disease and transplants added to the reality of what Darcy was going through. Loved the twist. Highly recommended.

Finding You was such a beautiful and touching story, and I knew as soon as I read the Author’s Note that this book had me hooked. Amy Clipston has written such a heartwarming and personal story about fate and I promise you that this one is going to stick with you.

From the outside looking in, Darcy seems to have her life put together. But that could not be farther from the truth. She lost her fiancé less than two years ago in a tragic accident. On top of that, despite the fact that she had a successful kidney transplant, she’s worried that any future children will suffer from the same condition. Carter also seems to have his life put together. He’s a mechanic, but a bad breakup and some medical bills have put him in debt. When Darcy’s car breaks down in her doctor’s parking lot, Carter is there to save the day and the two instantly hit it off. But despite the connection, there are many obstacles that the two have to overcome in order to see make their happily ever after.

A touching romance full of heartache and hope. Particularly poignant given the author’s personal experience with the subject matter. Made the read that much more impactful since she obviously captured all the emotional nuances.

‘Finding You’ is pure romance that starts with Darcy and Carter’s unexpected meet-cute and gently evolves into a cautious exploration of deepening feelings…BUT…as in all good romantic fiction…there are complications! Unusually challenging ones, in fact, and Clipston did a wonderful job of driving me crazy as this heroine and her hero battle insecurities and secrets. 🙂

I could understand their hesitancy but, I couldn’t help becoming frustrated over their trust issues. Of course, as the reader, I had the advantage of being aware of both Darcy and Carter’s inner most thoughts so trusting either of them wasn’t an issue for me…until it was! The author did a fantastic job with pacing and plot which included some memorable secondary characters who help our hero and heroine navigate their way to a hard-won happily-ever-after.

I listened to the audio edition and really enjoyed narrator Melissa Moran’s performance. She breathed life into these characters and related their story with warmth and compassion. A pleasant, easy-to-listen to ‘reading’ experience.

My thanks to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio as well as Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.

"Wait...can I get your number?"

"...I think you're really cute, Carter...but I'm not really dating right now."

"Oh, I meant that I need to text you about the car." He grinned. "But I think you're cute too."

So begins the sweetest emotional romance between Darcy and Carter in the heartfelt Finding You by bestselling contemporary author Amy Clipston.

After leaving her doctor's office Darcy's car won't start. Luckily, Carter sees her and has the car towed to his garage. Despite her determination to not be in a relationship, she can't deny their immediate connection.

Darcy is dealing with so much loss. Her fiance died in a car accident 18 months ago on his way to pick up the meds she forgot. He was also part of a pair donor exchange. He donated a kidney to someone and in exchange someone donated a kidney to Darcy, saving her life. The guilt is overwhelming her.

Carter's in serious debt, living with his sister and her boyfriend, working all the time at the garage. He feels he can't afford a life with Darcy.

I listened and read this beautiful love story simultaneously and it was an emotional experience. Hearing voice actress Melissa Moran well up with tears as Darcy or breakdown during Carter's frustration tore through me. As they find their way to each other, they need to find trust. Carter doesn't know about her transplant and she doesn't know why he was in the doctor's parking lot the day they met.

This writer took her personal story and with a pure heart wrote about those poignant moments of finding the courage to trust, to love again, not just another, but yourself.

I received a free copy of this book/audiobook from the publishers & author via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Finding You is the fourth book with ties to Flowering Grove, NC, by Amy Clipston. Darcy Larsen has had a couple of very difficult years. Today she was given good news from her nephrologist that all of her numbers were good as she is at the second anniversary of her kidney transplant. But afterwards her car would not start and Darcy had an important presentation coming up at work. As her starter fails her, a handsome stranger knocks on her window to ask if he can help. He offers to jump her car to get it started, but the car needs more. Professional mechanic Carter Donovan then offers to have her car towed wherever she would like as well as a lift to her office. Darcy follows her instincts and thanks Carter for his help, having the car towed to his family’s shop and accepting his offer of a ride.

Besides when Darcy picks up her repaired vehicle, her path crosses Carter’s again at a car show soon after their meeting in Flowering Grove, then again at a friend’s housewarming a couple of weeks later. With a special attraction, their relationship grows until secrets they both hold threaten to tear them apart.

This is a very good story treating some sensitive issues (organ transplant, adoption, parental desertion) in a gentle manner. Ms. Clipston does an excellent job of presenting this tale for which she has a very personal connection. I was really drawn into this story and I do recommend it!

Amy Clipston
Darcy Larsen’s fiancé died in a car accident eighteen months ago; he was on his way to pick up her medicine from the pharmacy. Eighteen long months filled with grief, pain and guilt. She missed him, she loved him. Darcy is having trouble letting go; she doesn’t believe she will ever open her heart to love again.
Carter Donovan is thankful for the kidney that saved his life, he is also thankful for the donor. Carter feels a bit guilty for someone had to die so that he could live. He knew the family of the donor were mourning. He is drowning in debt from the medical bills. He wants to move on with his life.
Perhaps it was fate when Darcy’s car broke down in the parking lot of a medical center and she was going to be late for work. She didn’t have anyone to call for help, They became quick friends. Both Darcy and Carter feel like they can breathe again as they look toward a future. As they become closer, they open up to each other sharing their expectations, doubts and histories. Carter suspects his kidney came from Darcy’s fiancé. Can their relationship survive?
This is the first book in a new series. It is beautiful written. The author has indicated that the story is loosely based on her own life.
Thank you NetGalley for providing a copy for review.

Finding You is a nice Christian Romance. Darcy and Carter are both living life post transplant and, in Darcy's case, also after the loss of her fiancé.

This is a really sweet story about a chance meeting ending up being so much more. Darcy is trying to live after the loss of her fiancé, a death she feels responsibility for since he was picking up her medication. Carter is trying to get his life back together after medical debt from his transplant acquired him some hefty debt.

I really enjoyed this one! Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins Christian publishing and Amy Clipston for the opportunity to read and review this story.

I can't decide which I enjoy more. Amish Fiction or Contemporary Romance. Amy Clipston can write anything! She's great at creating a world that comes alive in the readers mind & makes us long for her books to be Hallmark movies. I had read Clipston's non-fiction book 'A Gift of Love' which she wrote about her experience donating a kidney in a similar situation as explained in 'Finding You.' I couldn't help but to picture Amy as Darcy & her husband Joe (who is also a mechanic) to Carter. I tried not to, because their stories are different (which, you'll realize once you read 'A Gift of Love'). In the beginning, when Darcy & Carter meet, it's THE cutest meet-cute!! I was hooked & listened to the audiobook within a matter of days. I couldn't listen to anything else. Thank you.
