The TL:DR on this one could be Two people keep secrets from each other for absolutely no good reason.

Christian romance isn't my usual jam (and just to be clear, this one really wasn't a Christian romance - outside of talking about a couple getting married at a church, there's absolutely zero religious content in this story), and now I remember why. Just because you have a chaste story doesn't mean your late 20s/early 30s characters need to act like teenagers. In this book, their internal monologues were repetitive and silly, and my big issue: neither the hero or heroine shared significant CURRENT life situations, even though they'd declared their love for each other. They'd been dating for several months, and not a single conversation about their health situations. So of course when the secrets get revealed, first he got angry, said some rude things and took off, then when another bombshell was dropped she got upset and told him to go away and leave her alone. And then she was "heartbroken" because he did what she told him to do and didn't fight for her. 🙄

I'm always going to be bothered by characters who don't communicate like adults, and that's basically the whole situation in this book.

Outside of that, I would have liked to learn more about the things kidney transplant patients deal with in the long term after they've recovered from the transplant. All I got from this book is they have scars and need to take medicine. Or maybe more about what life was like before they were able to get the transplant. It's evident this is something personal to the author, why not use the story as an opportunity to educate readers?

Finally, I don't think the narrator did this story any favors. Her reading was very melodramatic which gave the heroine a very "woe is me" tone that didn't help my already-frustrated opinion of the characters and their story.

Readers who enjoy clean romance stories will like this one. The narrator does a great job telling the story. The author's personal experience with kidney disease and transplants added to the reality of what Darcy was going through. Loved the twist. Highly recommended.

Finding You AUDIO by Amy Clipson. This is the first of Clipson’s books I have encountered and it won’t be the last. As usual the root problem was lack of communication but it went far beyond that as two people who had both had kidney transplants grew to know one another and to fall in love. As he was leaving his doctor’s office, mechanic Carter Donovan ran into a woman having trouble with her car. It was a Lexus, a few years old and either had a bad battery or a bad starter.
He offered to help and Darcey kindly accepted. When he offered her a ride to work after arranging for the car to be towed, she accepted that as well. She didn’t actually see him again until she was on another ghastly blind date arranged by her best friend, where she ran into him wandering at the car show while her “date” talked on his phone. It went from there and got nothing but better and better as they both lived their lives and worked on their own problems.

Carter felt so guilty that his sister had donated her kidney. He also felt guilty that he lived above her garage. She had taken care of him for months when he had been sick. He was a good guy, and handsome, friendly, and kind. Darcey was adopted and had started to look for her birth mother. She had great parents and didn’t want to hurt them, but she felt a hole and she hoped to fill it. They slowly fell in love until one night when Darcey overheard talk of Carter’s kidney transplant. Why hadn’t he told her? Didn’t he trust her? Yes, it was a mess, but it was about to get worse. Very likable characters, very true-to-life. A good plot, very personal to the author, and one not often written about, especially in light romance. A very fun listen.

The book was performed by Melissa Moran who did a credible job with a difficult subject. She made these people real in the way the author intended. Thanks Melissa!

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC audiobook for an honest review.

This was a sweet romance with a predictable, but enjoyable outcome. Darcy and Carter meet and have an instant connection, but both have some emotional baggage to deal with. There are some similar backstories (kidney recipient, adoption/abandoned by parent). I loved how supportive and loving our couple was to each other. I didn't enjoy the 3rd act breakup (I know we need some angst, but...) I also felt we needed more from Carter's father to make amends and was disappointed his sister didn't take his feelings more into account. I understand we should forgive and cover with grace, but still the dad didn't have any worthwhile excuse for the abandonment and reason to stay away all those years. I was sad/mad for Carter and his legitimate emotions for the loss and painful scars left by his father's selfish act. Also, the ending felt a little rushed...were broke up...nope, were back together. Talk about emotional whip lash!

Still, a clean and enjoyable romance.

Two people both struggling with heavy issues meet and end up falling in love. The narrator in this audio book did a great job.

I received an audiobook arc and this is my honest opinion.

This book was about love and overcoming guilt, recovering from medical issues and moving forward in life. I enjoyed the read although it probably was not one of my favorites. Maybe it was the audio piece of it that swayed my opinion or the depth of medical detail and struggles the couple had dealing with their medical issues.

I definitely will read more by this author however this one was okay in my opinion.

This book had a profound impact on me. It was an emotional rollercoaster, skillfully blending moments of sorrow with uplifting, heartwarming scenes. I found myself deeply moved, even to the point of tears, as the story unfolded.

The characters were exceptionally well-developed, each with their unique charm and depth. I felt a genuine connection to them, almost as if they were old friends. Their struggles, joys, and growth throughout the narrative resonated with me on a personal level, making their journeys incredibly compelling.

What I appreciated most about this book was its ability to balance the sadness with hope and love. Despite the moments of heartache, there was always a sense of warmth and resilience that shone through. It was this delicate interplay of emotions that made the story so memorable and impactful.

Overall, this book was a beautiful experience. The blend of heartfelt sorrow and uplifting moments, combined with wonderfully crafted characters, created a story that will stay with me for a long time. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a poignant and heartwarming read.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction, Harper Collins Christian Audio, Amy Clipston, and NetGalley for an early review audiobook. All the opinions shared in this review are my own.

Darcy Larson, a kidney transplant recipient, leaves her check up with good news, but then her car breaks down. She is rescued by Mechanic Carson Donovan who is also a kidney transplant recipient. They are immediately drawn to each other, but fail to share their medical issues with the other. They must each must learn to work through several issues before they can have a successful relationship.

I mostly enjoyed Melissa Morgan’s narration of this audiobook. I would say her voice definitely fit the characters. I did not find her performance to be a standout performance, but she did allow me to get into the flow of the book. She indicates each new chapter as she starts. I think this is a good book to listen to on audio.

This book was middle of the road for me. It was not a stand out. I feel parts of the story could have been better fleshed out. I would like to have had more information on the characters backstories. I also found the lack of honest communication relating to their medical issues annoying. Another thing that bothered me was the lack of faith elements in the book. I would at least expect to see church going. The only church mentioned in this book was for a wedding. I find that disappointing.

A person looking for a somewhat fluffy, feel good read will enjoy this book. Someone looking for a faith filled book will want to skip this book.

This is my second book by Amy Clipston and did not realize they happen in the same book universe(same small town) I did enjoy this emotional roller coaster of a book. Small town romance with a lot of feelings,
Just a heads up to readers this is classified as a Christian book but it’s not packed full or religion, it’s just a no spice level love story.

I really enjoyed the narrator.

Easy and fast read. I felt like I did need to finish the book in one go or I would lose interest. This book is definitely for all those people complaining about spice. I’m not normally a romance reader because every romance book is girl meets someone, they date, keep things from each other, break up/ make up then get back together. With that said I did tandem read with the book from a Goodreads Giveaway and listen to the audio from NetGalley. The audio was easy enough to listen to so I did listen to most of the audio without the book. There is also a bonus interview with the Author in the beginning with background to the concept of the book.

I enjoyed this contemporary romance. Darcy, the female main character, quickly grew on me, and I wanted to know her story. There are definitely some serious topics covered, but I appreciated knowing this was a bit autobiographical for the author. 4.5 stars!

I listened to the audiobook of this novel, so I didn't cry. The narrator did a great job.
I received Finding You from NetGalley. Opinions are my own.

The ending last hour and a half ruined the audiobook for me the performance was great but the story ugh!!! 😩 someone has watched too many Hallmark and lifetime movies lol like come on why the dramatics I knew 25% of what the big 3rd act break up would be… it’s like 5 feet apart, the fault in Our Stars and a walk to Remember had a baby but added more dramatics and a very clean story

A beautiful, heartfelt story about fate, second chances, grief, loss, moving on after the death of a loved one and serendipity all revolving around two characters both effected by chronic kidney disease who fall in love and find themselves connected in the most unexpected ways. Great on audio and perfect for fans of authors like Nicholas Sparks, Kristan Higgins or Laura Bradley. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

Steam level: kissing only

The story of Darcy Larsen and Carter Donovan is one that will touch your hearts from the beginning to the end.
Darcy lost her fiance in an accident, shortly after she received a kidney from a donor. Almost 2 years later, she still not only mourns his death, but also the guilt of his death is a constant in her life.
Carter was seriously ill until a kidney was donated and though it’s given him a second chance in life, it has left him in deep debt.
By chance, these two meet when Darcy’s car breaks down and Carter comes to her rescue.
From that moment on, the attraction was evident but these two are keeping a secret that could change everything.
Will they survive the revelation? If so, can they move on ? Will they give their love a chance and realize that in the sorrow, they have also been given a second chance not only in love , and life, but also in a future together?
This was a touching story that at times was heartbreaking as well as heartwarming. The author touches on many sensitive subjects such as adoption, kidney donation, and abandonment. Her comments about kidney donation were enlightening as well as educational and very revealing.
I loved this story and have now added this author in my TBR list.
Lastly, Melissa Moran, the narrator, did a wonderful job with the various voices.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I love finding new (to me) authors. This is a clean, contemporary romance. Darcy Larsen meets Carter Donovan on a day when her car breaks down. He helps her by having her car towed to the garage where he works as a mechanic. They meet again at a local car show a few weeks later. This is a sweet romance with picnics, watching movies, meeting friends and family. There is kissing and passion but never a move to do more. He is concerned that he will never be able to give her a lifestyle like her parents have helped her towards. (She does work.) And she is still grieving for her fiancé who died in a car accident. They both have a secret they haven’t shared. Each has had a kidney transplant.

I listened to the audio book and enjoyed the narration by Melissa Moran. I enjoyed the story and the characters. The friends and family members are great as supporting characters as well. This is Darcy’s first romance after losing her fiancé and it is handled well. I don’t know if I needed her search for her birth mother or Carter’s abandonment issues but it makes the characters have more dimensions. I don’t usually choose clean contemporary romances to read but I enjoyed this one and would read more from the author. Also I see the author is a Christian writer, but religion is not mentioned in this book other than attending a wedding in a church. Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Thomas Nelson Fiction for the audio book and I am leaving an honest review.

Oh this book was SO sweet! I loved the story, the characters, and just was so drawn into it from the very beginning. It was such a fun read

This is not my first time reading something by Amy Clipston. I usually enjoy her Amish love stories, so I thought that I’d give this new book of hers a try. I really enjoy reading her books because she is a North Carolina author and includes towns that are familiar to me. I don’t read the book description before requesting or reading a book - I want each one to be a surprise adventure! This book definitely did not disappoint!

Clipston writes clean romance stories and Finding You is based on something is familiar to her. Darcy meets Carter after her car won’t start and they have an instant connection. Will they both be able to put their pasts and health issues behind them?
Without spoiling the story for others, I’m just going to tell you that you will be surprised at some of the twists and turns that this book takes, but go ahead and ENJOY THE RIDE!

Thanks to Netgalley, for this advanced audio copy of Finding You, in exchange for an honest review.

“That's the thing about love, man. It changes you. When you find it, your life will be transformed forever. Don't be afraid to let yourself experience it. It happens when you least expect it to.”

Eighteen months ago, Darcy lost her fiancee in a car accident. She’s struggling with moving on and letting go. She’s not sure that she will ever find what she had with Jace ever again.

Carter had an emergency kidney transplant, and ever since, he’s been trying to dig his way out of the medical debt and strain it’s put on others in his life. He’s tired of not being able to get ahead.

Darcy’s car breaks down one day after she’s leaving the doctors office, and she’s late for work. No one is around to help, her family is out of town. Discouraged, and not knowing what to do, she picks up her phone to call a tow truck. Carter is a mechanic and hears the clicking of car next to his. He knocks on her window and little do either of them know, life is about to change for them both. As they grow closer, they struggle with being honest about their personal struggles, until one day a truth they’ve been holding back, threatens to shatter what they have built.

This was my first book by Amy Clipston. I was immediately drawn in by the forward in the beginning of the book, it talks about how the author actually lived a piece of this story, because her husband had a kidney transplant. It was such a great read, and the characters were very likable. Through the authors writing, I could sense her heart was close on the pages, having gone through a similar situation. It was such a sweet clean romance that gave me all the feels. It was so much more than just a romance, it felt with many issues including adoption, trauma, loss, and many more. Will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.
