This was a great resource for new and current reviewers on how to use Net Galley to the best function.
I appreciated all of the hints and tricks.
I enjoyed reading NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy Reading!
This is a useful publication from Net Galley. Lots of useful information for newbies to experienced Net Galley members alike. It contains examples of reviews and explanations of various areas of Net Galley. I wish it had been available when I first joined!
Loved having an updated Toolkit, thanks NetGalley! Gave me the inspiration to update my profile with current followers and important key words. Even though I’ve been a NetGalley member for a while I took the advice of book review suggestions and am now following the tips and it feels better and more concise. I found it useful to read about feedback ratio and what to do. I found the tips and guidelines useful and user friendly!
This was so helpful! Really insightful on helping me increase my approval rates! Thank you so much for the guide!
Thanks for all the tips! I have been reviewing for quite sometime but it’s nice to review NetGalley expectations
This is a great guide for NetGalley users, it doesn't matter if you’re new to the site or have been using it a while, there are lots of handy tips. I am currently updating my profile after reading this! I wish I’d had this when starting out a few months ago so that I could have my profile better reflect my personality from the start!
There are so many helpful tips to improve your NetGalley experience, as well as links to more comprehensive articles and more in depth explanations on how to use the app and website! One of my favourite things was the chat about when to DNF a book/when to use the "will not give feedback" feature!
I definitely recommend to everyone on NetGalley but especially anyone who wants to continue improving being a stronger book advocate.
NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit
Revised Edition
We Are Bookish
NetGalley updated their Book Advocate Toolkit on 7/22/2024, providing users with current guidelines and fresh tips for using the NetGalley platform.
I have been a member of NetGalley since 2021, and I loved having a refresher course to reinforce and bring me up to date with NetGalley's guidelines. The toolkit also provides tips to encourage my success as a book reviewer.
The guide is so well-organized, flowing smoothly from how to create a strong profile and keep up a good ratio to writing reviews and sharing them. Examples are given for reviews. I was glad to read about what is expected from members, so that I can strive to uphold those expectations. Terms are explained, and photos and instructions are shared on navigating the website and Shelf App. The visuals are in a pleasing format and colors.
Many thanks to We Are Bookish for offering this useful and educational toolkit to NetGalley members.
I received a copy from NetGalley. My review is my own.

Once upon a time I wanted to be a NetGalley reviewer and now I'm on my way. Thank you for helping this socially awkward reader. These tips will help me get started.
I wish that I had downloaded this sooner! This was extremely helpful and gave me a better idea of what is expected of me as a NetGalley reader.
Wow! Why wasn't this toolkit around when I started on NetGalley? This is fabulous.
I have been a NetGalley member for years, and there are tips/tricks in this toolkit that I only recently discovered on my own. This would have been so useful if it was sent to me as soon as I signed up. I think it will also help with a lot of questions that readers post on different social media sites looking for help from others.
I like how it is arranged, and it is an easy pdf to read on my computer. I also like that there are links for more information. The only thing I would change is to highlight more reviews that publishers would like to see. They could be reviews regarding different genres.
This toolkit will be beneficial for all reviewers.
This updated house is very helpful for NetGalley reviewers. It's set up in an easy to read manner. I would recommend this to all NetGalley reviewers, especially new ones.
NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is a great resource to get any reviewer - new or old - started on a successful reviewer path. I found a lot of the information was informative and the breakdown for the different sections was super helpful! I even used the tips to revamp my bio!
I didn’t realize there was a new book advocate “book”, but it was on the camp book bingo so I grabbed it and looked through it. I found it to be more directed at new users of Netgalley, I’ve been with Netgalley since 2013 so a lot of this isn’t new info for me. Too bad there wasn’t a handbook on how to not request all the books ahhaa.
Thanks Netgalley for sharing this with us.
I love NetGalley's new Book Advocate Toolkit! It is definitely an essential read for those new to NG.
As someone who has now been using NG for a year, I still found Book Review Tips and the example of a good review very helpful!
I look forward to the upcoming Social Media Toolkit!
It was a helpful overview. Providing insight regarding getting started with NetGalley. It convinced me that I really need to work on my feedback ratio.
An update version of the Book Advocate Toolkit!
I loved the last one and constantly use it as a reference, its always amazing to have tips, facts and recommendations when doing reviews
I recommend for anyone struggling, just starting out or looking to improve their reviewing skills!
This was really helpful for me. I especially appreciated the section about filling in your profile. Those tips were great and helped me update my profile in a more helpful way.
I also liked the section on writing reviews and the section on managing your requests, I'm pretty good about not requesting more than I can read, but I can definitely see that being helpful to other folks.
Great resource, much appreciated. One note - it was HARD to find this on the website. I'm a librarian and when I went looking for it at the start of camp I couldn't locate it. I only eventually found it through an emailed newsletter link.
As someone newer to NetGalley and book reviewing, this was so helpful!
The sample book reviews and tips are great. I’m still trying to get into the stride of things with my social media posts and reviews, and I’m feeling more confident now!
Thank you for this super informative toolkit, netgalley! can’t wait to use some of the things i’ve learned from it
