A comprehensive guide on getting started on NetGallery. Even seasoned member should have a copy of this and read it occasionally, especially when it comes to updating your profile or if they feel stumped with writing a review. I really like how it was laid out. Very easy to follow and understand.
So "NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit" it the book I should have started with when I first signed up with Netgalley in 2014. Back then, Netgalley was a young site, and I was not really active. I mean, at all. I was a member in name only.
That changed late in 2022, when a GR friend recommended a book to me from Netgalley - Liar, Dreamer, Thief by Maria Dong. What a great novel, I thought, and one I would not have read otherwise. And it got me started in poking around the site, but I didn't really know how to use it. I read primarily on a Kindle at the time, and the Netgalley app was not available for my tablet. So unbeknownst to me, I couldn't read some of the books I was approved for because I couldn't figure out how to download them to read them.
I figured it out, eventually. Trial and error. I got a new tablet, an iPad this time. I finally downloaded the Netgalley app. And I finally could get the full Netgalley experience.
Had I read this book at the time, I would have saved myself a lot of heartache and grief and explanation as to why I couldn't review a book because the book was archived before I figured out the whole app thing. This and lots of other tricks and tips were clearly explained for the novice Netgalley user. As a more experienced Netgalley user, I still appreciate this book - it's a sleek, handy reference that's easy to read and remember. Nicely job to the We Are Bookish team!
Thank you so much for this very informative resource. This will help me navigate NetGalley. The suggestions and tips are great
Perfect for both those who are new to NetGalley and those needing a refresher. The Book Advocate Toolkit is a one-stop shop for getting started with NetGalley and writing book reviews.
The booklet itself is really easy to read and navigate, with clear sections and layouts. It made starting with both the platform and writing book reviews feel accessible and less intimidating.
Appreciate the insight of being more successful on this platform! Thank you for making this information available. I wish that the guide explained more on approval emails and information that might be in them, but I recognize that might be too hard as it varies by publisher.
this was incredibly helpful! i plan to make some profile changes and possibly some changes to how i format my reviews. thank you!
This book is so handy to help navigate your first steps on NetGalley. I felt a little overwhelmed about starting my NetGalley journey and thought maybe it wasn’t worth trying as I might fail. This ebook has given me clear steps, useful and practical advice and made it seem not just possible but even easy to move forward.
The colour palette and design is lovely and the information laid out in short, attention grabbing ways. Very useful.
The NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is a must read for anyone getting started on this platform. The format is easy to follow and there are helpful tips for creating your bio and having your ARC requests approved. Thank you Net Galley !
I love this book. It is very easy to read and fun to look at. Makes everything clear on any questions that I had. Even though I have been on NetGalley for some time, I still read several thing that I didn’t know - i.e. I didn’t realize we could withdraw a request, which I had missed somewhere along the way. Very helpful, thank you NetGalley!
This was really helpful for getting started on NetGalley. I especially appreciated the section on Book Reviews and the tips and info on requesting titles. This also answered a lot of questions I didn't know I had! So I feel better equipped to navigate NetGalley in the future - I'll definitely be keeping this as a reference.
I found this to be very helpful. I was able to pick up some tips for my profile and how to write the reviews
This was incredibly helpful while editing my profile to be more professional, succinct, and desirable to publishers who may consider me as an ARC reader. I'm super grateful for such an informative guide as I was a little lost on how to improve my profile.
Thank you, Netgalley for being so helpful and making sure we get the most out of this site. This guide was incredibly helpful, easy to read and to look at. Incredibly helpful.
Great resource if you are new to Netgalley (or need a refresher). I found the tips and FAQ very helpful. Easily laid out and easy to reference a particular topic or if you need help on it all.
Need help getting started with NetGalley, here's a great resource book for you. You'll have a better understanding of how to fill out your profile and get started requesting new books to add to your library.
I think this is a fabulous resource for reviewers - especially those who may be new to reviewing or getting their feedback out into the world. I found it to be full of useful tips!
Over the course of the year, I'd figured out a number of these tips and tricks to navigating NetGalley. However, I wish I would have found this prior to getting started. Being the noob that I was I requested so many books up front and trashed my feedback rating. Actually, I'm still working on correcting that, 20 books are really no joke even as the pace I'm finishing them. Then a couple weren't the first book in a series and added to my list. That being said, I still learned things and hope to leave been reviews in the future.
This is such a helpful tool to take your advocating to the next level. My only wish is that is was downloadable on Kindle along with NetGalley App.
Thanks to the NetGalley for a copy to honestly review.
A helpful document with some great tools for new members and a great way to refresh if you have been with NetGalley for many years. Take the time to refresh your boi or improve your review it's always a great idea.
Loved the original Toolkit but this updated version makes everything so much easier to understand! Thanks We Are Bookish team for your outstanding work.
