Straight up country comfort....
This is a pretty handy guide for simple recipes and maybe a few tweaks that take longer.
Lot's of country and comfort.
Recommend.
This is a really neat cookbook! The photos are beautiful and showcase the recipes well. The recipes I'm most excited to try are the Chicken Quesadillas,Family Friday-Night-In Pizzas, Sunday Sports Chicken Mac 'N' Cheese, Creamy Garlic Chicken,Pulled Chicken Tacos and Peanut Butter and Jam Sponge Cake. I would recommend this! Special Thank You to Hari Beavis, Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
I liked the recipes on this book. I cannot wait to try some of them and the design is so pleasing and organized.

Readability: ★★★★☆
With clear instructions and a user-friendly layout, ‘Country Comfort’ is accessible to cooks of all skill levels. The breakdown by time - comfort in 10, 20, 30, or 40 minutes - makes it easy to navigate based on how much time you have, ensuring a smooth cooking experience. Hari Beavis captures the essence of heartfelt home cooking, offering a range of recipes that cater to different time constraints while ensuring the food still feels like a warm hug. With its focus on simple, yet meaningful, dishes, this cookbook is sure to become a go-to for fans of comfort food.
This is a nice cookbook but it's mostly because the photography is gorgeous! The structure is great - separating the chapters on the time spent cooking; although what meal is really done in 10 minutes? Let's be serious.
I also enjoyed the ingredients substitutes and how the same meal can be recreated yet made different by switching something up.
But other than that, I felt it lacked something unique and maybe something personal - don't get me wrong, the author is sharing memories for each dish and so on, but the recipes are nothing new or groundbreaking or something that would make me put the book down and go cook.
Every page looked amazing and I would pay a lot of money to be invited over for dinner at the author's house!
I can't wait to try all these recipes, they all look so hearty and comforting!
Country Comfort by Hari Beavis is such an inviting cookbook. It has great recipes, beautiful photographs and quick and easy recipes for most cooks to try.
I’m a big fan of cookbook and read them like a novel! I enjoyed the way the book is structured as well.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for allowing me to review this inspiring cookbook!
Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy of this book for review.
I did not get a chance to try the recipes but I am eager to get started. The book was well organized and the recipes look very clearly written with appetizing photos.
I will look for copies of this book as gifts for my family.
This book is broken out into sections based upon the time you have, 10 minutes, 20, 30, 40, this is a great way to determine what you can make quickly on a weeknight when everyone is starving.
There is a very good variety of recipes along with great instructions and photos to match. This may be a comfort food cookbook but there are plenty of upscale recipes as well. This could be used for family dinners as well as get-togethers. I have so many recipes bookmarked to try. This is a book you will reach for again and again.
Comfort food means different things to different people. In the case of Hari Beavis, social media star and author of Country Comfort: Hearty, wholesome meals in minutes, it’s all British comfort food. That is not a bad thing, it’s just possibly different from comfort food in the US. This excellent cookbook has dozens of mouthwatering ideas that are very tempting.
The recipes have a definite British slant, and they are written in the traditional manner with ingredients listed first followed by step- by-step instructions to insure perfect results for both beginning and advanced cooks. Beavis also adds comments at the beginning of the recipes with helpful hints, vignettes, and information to help with a successful dish.
Beavis has also included beautiful professional photographs of most of the recipe, making them look absolutely mouthwatering. The variety is endless, and includes meals made with meats, poultry, and fish, and includes British mainstays like savory pies, brunch, and dinner dishes. There are plenty of pasta dishes and fabulous desserts. There are recipes gathered from places around the world, such as Mexico, Italy, and the Middle East, including curry and even some vegetarian dishes.
All told, every time I peruse this cookbook I add another dish or two to my “must make soon” queue. This will keep readers cooking fun, new meals for months.
I don't know why I keep requesting cookbooks on NetGalley when I KNOW that the format on my kindle is always wonky. I am more than happy to accept print arcs of cookbooks, I love cookbooks. But they never translate well to Kindle.
Simply put, I really enjoyed this new cookbook and several of the quick and easy recipes.. I t will make a lovely gift for any cooking enthusiast. It's time for me to sign up for TikTok and learn more about the author😋
I absolutely love love this cookbook! The recipes were so well done, written easy enough to want to make just about every single dish. The pictures accompanying each recipe were so so breathtaking enough that I was ready to make any of the recipes. I really appreciated the occasional notes of alternate ingredients, especially when my husband can get so picky with certain items (looking at you, anything seafood!).
There was a wide range of the types of cuisine, in which I appreciated. I liked that I could go from making chicken Mac&cheese to Lamb Pitta Kaftas. This cookbook was hitting all the right notes for me when meal planning each week for a month. I'm one of those cooks that I must have a picture alongside a recipe otherwise I wouldn't look through the cookbook, but I'm admitting that this cookbook didn't deter me from shying away. Plenty of recipes didn't have pictures, but the actual recipes themselves were intriguing enough that I was ok with that!
First to definitely make: Butter Chicken Curry Pie. My stomach is growling now. Loved this cookbook so much, but I just wished there were more doodles to be consistent throughout, but that's just a teeny thing!
Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group - White Lion for a copy of this mouth watering collection. All opinions are my own.
Another British book, I was sorta surprised with how familiar the recipes are! Part of that is shared ancestral recipes/tastes, and shared experience (same magazines/cookbooks) shared by people in different parts of the world. But what it leads to in this cookbook are recipes that may be British, yet are familiar too. So why her Dragon Pie recipe is a variation on traditional meat pie, it's seasonings and gravy are familiar to me, from mom's beef pot pie! Other recipes are modern takes, like mac n cheese and bolognese and pasta bake. Everything is great home cooking though that you family will love! I think the biggest keeper from the book for me is the Poppy Seed Rosemary Lemon Drizzle Muffins- they are heavenly! So consider this book for hostess presents this upcoming holiday season, but be sure to get a copy for you and your bestie too!
A enjoyable debut cookbook with a slew of delicious, hearty recipes that are sorted into 10,20,30 and 40 minutes with an entire baking section at the end. My family loved the Salmon dinner in a foil packet! I thank Quarto Publishing/White Lion and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this cookbook.
Love how this book is organized and the recipes look deliciously perfect for autumn and winter. Great photography.
This is a very cosy cookbook, reminding me of autumn nights and winter meals from the title to the photography to the recipes.
I haven't cooked from it yet (so you have to bear that in mind with any scoring) but I've marked an awful lot of pages to try out at some point.
I like how each chapter is organised by time (eg whether it takes a meal 10, 20, 30, or 40 minutes) - always a useful pointer for me as I tend to be rather time-poor.
Sure, there's probably going to be overlap with the recipes you have in other books, but there are really only so many popular combos out there.
I'm looking forward to trying these with my fussy family and reporting on the results.
I was not aware of this author being a Tictok or instagram sensation. I was drawn tot ht ebook as the recipes were expected to be quick, easy and comforting. I loved the layout and the clear pictures. With the recipes being split into time used was useful if you know that you are going to be particularly short of time and don't want to resort to a sandwich.
With what appears to be something for all tastes, this would be a useful book for the bookshelf.
A wonderful debut cookbook for Hari Beavis. This book has 90 recipes to help with those quick and easy meals that you need for those busy days. They are separated by times, there is even a chapter on meals in 10 minutes. There is a chapter at the end about baking for those wonderful dessert cravings. Even better, each recipe comes with a list of swaps and some additional ideas to create your perfect meal. I Love how detailed the recipes are. With a full description, along with easy to follow ingredients and directions. The pictures are simply mouth watering, making me want to try every recipe. I found some favorites like the Hug-in-a-bowl Beef Stroganoff and Dragon Pie ‘with Dragons Caught from the Welsh Mountains’.
I loved this book. It is so creative and fun with recipes I can see my family wanting to eat, and they did. Your family will love cooking together with this book. It is a perfect gift for anyone looking for some fun, easy and creative meals. Enjoy with your family.
Some good ideas for quick basic meals, this book has both savouries and cakes. I have not heard of the author as I don't follow influencers. What I didn't like in this book is for example the pin wheels - the pastry wasn't part of the ingredients list and the wraps weren't part of the Quesadeas ingredients list. When reading the description about the dish it tells you that you need wraps and puff pastry but if I was making a shopping list I would go to the ingredients list to see what I needed to buy to make the dish. There wasn't a dish that I thought " I must cook this'.
