This was a fantastic thriller. Twists, suspense, tension. The mystery was riveting. Right away, I was hooked with how odd this situation was, and things only increased, which had me on the edge of my seat.

This is a middle of the road 2.5 stars and not a "I didn't like this" 2.5 stars.

I spent the majority of this book being more intrigued by who was being kept in the room and tortured than I was in the actual confessing and investigating. This did start to have a bit of a slasher movie feel to it and that, combined with the fast paced nature of the story, kept me interested until the end. I just think that there wasn't much mystery here and the ending could have been a lot darker and ambiguous.

Tell Me What You Did has the makings of a true thriller. When Poe's next anonymous guest on her podcast reveals he is her mother's killer, her whole world is upended. Poe had been on a mission years ago to find the killer and take matters in her own hands. He's gone but now how does this guy know things only Poe and the killer would know. Did she commit a crime on the wrongly accused?
The chapters alternate not only between Poe's current and past timelines but also adds in her podcasts with an interview format. The story told is a dark one about a girl's troubled life with some shocking twists mixed in to keep you guessing.

In this chilling and thought-provoking thriller, Poe Webb, a true crime podcaster who thrives on evoking anonymous confessions, finds herself at the center of the kind of story she usually tells. When a stranger claims he is responsible for the death of her mother, Poe becomes unsettled not just by what he says but also because she knows he’s not telling the truth. With her own secrets, she knows because she killed the person who took her mother’s life.

From its chilling premise to its continuous tension, this novel blurs the line between justice and crime. Poe is faced with the moral dilemma of how to expose a lie when she knows the truth has its own consequences. As the pace of the book quickens with anticipation, the novel keeps you engaged as Poe unravels information that threatens to uncover a secret from her past.

As Poe’s past collides with her present, the story brings unexpected twists and reveals that keep the reader hooked until the end.

This book was extremely addicting. The pace of the book made you not want to put it down. It felt like every time something happened, you needed to know what was coming next and it wasn’t what you thought. The way this book was written keeps you completely zoned in with an unsettling grip, especially the interactions between Poe and Ian.

The alternating from the beginning of the story unfolding and the podcast transcripts of Poe and Ian really set the book on edge for me. I honestly didn’t like Poe until that bomb drop of who her guest was then my perspective stuck in conflict. What’s interesting is the perspective dilemma of the protagonist from this moment on. Considering her perspective on the criminals who confessed to her and the disdain she had for their actions, were her actions in the same category as the people who confessed to her? Was her punishment justified? This sat in the back of my mind as it spun trying to justify rooting for her but in the end it was worth it.

This was my first book read by this author and I’m beyond excited to read what he has coming in the future. This was written well, thought out and seamed together perfectly. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, I recommend putting this on your reading list.

A fast paced thriller that had me guessing until the end. I enjoyed the story build and the concept. What threw me off just a bit was the excessive use of the word fuck.

Poe Webb, the host of a well-known true crime podcast, allows individuals to anonymously admit to crimes they've committed on her show. When Ian Hindley appears on her show, she is convinced that he is her mother's killer. But she murdered him seven years ago. Did she?

This is a fast-paced thriller with a podcast format implemented into it. Written in a single POV and a non-linear timeline, the story is easy to follow yet engaging enough to keep me on my seat.

However, I don't like the main character's character development. Poe's character is downright confusing and complicated. She constantly switches between being morally-grey and morally-upright that it exhausted me mid-book.

Her character is also unlikeable and dumb (lol, aren't most characters in thrillers?). She even labeled herself as TSTL (too stupid to live). When faced with multiple threats, she still insisted on facing the dangers head-on instead of going to the police. Honestly, she makes me want to shake Poe and scream at her.

The final reveal was slightly disappointing as well. I figured out the twist early. What makes it even more disappointing is that Poe is a true crime podcaster and yet she didn't figure it out until the end (the connection did cross her mind but only slightly). I was literally shaking my head and tsk-tsking at this. Lol 🤣

Despite all this, this is still an enjoyable read. I even had had a few laughs with it. Absolutely appreciating the dark humour and dad jokes thrown in by the author. 🤣🤣 Definitely a popcorn thriller that I wouldn't mind snacking on from time to time.

This was more of a slow burn thriller than I was expecting but when it hit about 85% it really hit the gas. Definitely creepy vibes! My full review is on my page @nelliesreads on Instagram.

If you are in the market for an edgy, dark thriller that will get the blood pumping and pages turning, I highly recommend checking this one out when it releases. With several timelines woven through podcast transcripts and reflections, this seamlessly tells a story of vengeance on a serial killer.

Poe Webb hosts a popular true crime podcast where she gets people to admit to their darkest crimes. When a guest reveals himself as her mother's killer, Poe is uneasy. Not only does the man give off sinister energy, but she knows he can't be the killer. Because she killed him. And now this man is going to blackmail her into admitting it.

If you are uneasy about blood or violence, you may want to enter this one with caution. There are definitely some graphic scenes (but not horribly so, I could stomach it and I typically don't like to read anything too gory).

This is rapid paced with short chapters, so although it's not a short book it moves pretty quickly. I did find the ending a *touch* rushed, which is why I docked half a star, but I definitely do strongly recommend this one!

She gets people to confess their crimes for a living. He knows she's hiding a terrible secret. It's time for the truth to come out...

Poe Webb, host of a popular true crime podcast, invites people to anonymously confess crimes they've committed to her audience. She can't guarantee the police won't come after her "guests," but her show grants simultaneous anonymity and instant fame—a potent combination that's proven difficult to resist. After an episode recording, Poe usually erases both criminal and crime from her mind.

But when a strange and oddly familiar man appears on her show, Poe is forced to take a second look. Not only because he claims to be her mother's murderer from years ago, but because Poe knows something no one else does. Her mother's murderer is dead.

Poe killed him.

I loved the formatting of this story, how we kept going from the past to the future, and how it all ended up coming together in the last 20 or so chapters. I had to put this one down for a little while but ended up coming back to it and am really glad that I did, as I really wanted to know who Hindley was and why he wanted to hurt Poe so badly. I was actually surprised by the ending revelation, and loved how much Poe’s father was involved with the whole situation. I really enjoyed the short chapters as it helped me fly through the story! Now I need to read the story about Alice and what she went through!

Poe has her own podcast where people anonymously come on and admit to crimes they commit. The only thing Poe doesn’t consider is that one day the tables will be turned and she’ll be confessing to her own.

This book had me on the edge of my seat and heart racing. I enjoyed this quick read. Thanks, Netgalley!

Tell Me What You Did

Although there was definitely some very good moments of suspense in this thriller, it was a bit of a miss for me. I didn’t care for the main character much. She came off as a shallow alcoholic, but I guess she had good reason to be that way. The podcast premise feels like a novelty that’s been overdone in the last year or so. I actually love a good true-crime podcast, but not so much in book form. It was also too long! I did rate this three stars, because I did like parts of it, and I think others would probably like it. It wasn’t for me though. I do appreciate the opportunity to read the ARC from @netgalley and @poisonedpenpress in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the author, Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My apologies for the delay in posting, I had several familial health challenges to contend with in the past month.

This was promising from the blurb, but it turns out they shot their shot in the blurb - I kept waiting for the vaunted twists, which never came, and the big reveal was very easy to guess well ahead of time. There were some massive plot holes, and I found the character development sadly lacking - the main character oscillated between being a passive namby-pamby and a badass b!tch, but settling on being neither. The pacing was off, the flow of the narrative was very slow and the interactions were just off. Overall, sorry, not for me.

True crime podcast-inspired thrillers are having a major moment, and this one absolutely delivers. From the first page, I was hooked. The short, snappy chapters made it impossible to put down, pulling me out of my post-Onyx Storm reading slump in the best way. Fast-paced, twisty, and utterly addictive, this thriller kept me on edge until the very last page.

Meet Poe, our morally gray, sharp-witted antihero. After her mother was brutally murdered years ago, she channeled her pain into hosting a true crime podcast with a chilling premise—her guests confess their crimes live on air. Her signature line? “Tell me what you did.” But when someone from her past unexpectedly calls in, everything spirals. What follows is a dark, tension-filled ride packed with shocking twists and unsettling revelations.

One of the standout aspects of this book was Poe herself. She’s a firecracker—fierce, flawed, and impossible not to root for. If you’re in the mood for a thriller that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go, this one is a must-read.

Tell me what you did is a psychological thriller and I liked the writing style. The true crime podcaster is entangled in a mystery when a mysterious caller tells her that he knows what she did some years back.

Poe's mom was killed and nobody knows how and who killed her. But Poe did know and she did something about it. Only that she thought nobody knows what she did but someone does.

Overall there are many loopholes in this book. The mystery wasn't interesting enough. There were no twists as such apart from the last twist which was easily figurable or atleast I had figured it out.

Most book was much predictable if I'm being honest. So an okay okay read for me. Some details made the book creepy which was a plus point, it was clear to me from the start who might be the actual killer and what might have happened so it became dull quite fast

Thank you Netgalley and poisoned pen press for ARC in exchange of an honest review.

THIS book!!!! Right when I was thinking the true crime podcast trope was getting a little overdone, I was pleasantly surprised by the unique take on that in Tell Me What You Did. I ended up listening to the audiobook version, and it was done SO well with the dual narration. I highly suggest this not-so-common thriller!

Super creepy, but no twists and turns, so I don't know that I'd call this a "thriller". What you see is what you get. But still, don't read this one alone after dark.

Poe is the host of a true crime podcast where callers can anonymously confess their crimes. When a caller makes the claim that he killed Poe’s mother, she knows he’s lying - because she already killed that man. Or did she? I had a hard time connecting with Poe and thought she was pretty wooden. But overall it was a fun, creep book. Would definitely recommend.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book was definitely suspenseful, and I read the whole thing in a day! So the good news is, the pages keep themselves turning! I really wanted to like it more than I ultimately did. The pace was exciting but something about the storyline just fell a little flat for me. I found it hard to cheer for Poe because it was hard to understand her actions and choices. If you like a suspenseful read, this is a great choice!

I was able to get a copy of this in hand and I devoured this popcorn thriller. If you are looking for a popcorn thriller that keeps you turning the pages look into this one. It would perfect for some spring break reading, or this summer.

Wow this book was a ride. The whole time I read it I imagined how incredible the audiobook could be if it’s done with multiple narrators and in a similar format as None of This is True or Listen For The Lie. It was seriously so creepy and took me on a whole journey. Very well done.
