She gets people to confess their crimes for a living. He knows she's hiding a terrible secret. It's time for the truth to come out…
Poe Webb, host of a popular true crime podcast, invites people to anonymously confess crimes they've committed to her audience. She can't guarantee the police won't come after her "guests," but her show grants simultaneous anonymity and instant fame—a potent combination that's proven difficult to resist. After an episode recording, Poe usually erases both criminal and crime from her mind.
But when a strange and oddly familiar man appears on her show, Poe is forced to take a second look. Not only because he claims to be her mother's murderer from years ago, but because Poe knows something no one else does. Her mother's murderer is dead.
Poe killed him.
From the USA Today bestselling author of The Dead Girl in 2A and The New Neighbor comes a chilling new thriller that forces the question: are murderers always the bad guys?

“I’m a sucker for a revenge thriller, and Carter Wilson’s latest, Tell Me What You Did, takes things up a notch by centering the plot around a true crime podcast. Wilson hooks you from page one and doesn't let go, reeling you in with sharp writing, a breakneck pace, and a protagonist to root for even when you think you shouldn’t. The perfect book for readers who love their thrillers gripping and utterly original.”

“Expert pacing, a complex and flawed protagonist...Genius.”
—Hannah Mary McKinnon, internationally bestselling author of Only One Survives
“Carter Wilson’s latest has a dash of Thomas Harris and a generous heaping of Stieg Larsson—but really, Tell Me What You Did is completely its own thing. Propulsive, shocking, and exquisitely crafted, Wilson’s fantastic thriller features an unforgettable heroine and a harrowing truth: We can never escape our past.”
— Abbott Kahler, New York Times bestselling author of Eden Undone and Where You End
"Instantly gripping, Tell Me What You Did drove me to sleepless nights as I devoured the tense storyline. Wilson's podcasting protagonist notches with my favorite heroines, uniquely flawed and as complex as they come, while the twists and turns of his prose made each chapter fly by. Grab this thriller for a fast weekend read."

If I had one word to describe this book it would be ‘unhinged’! From the first page to the last this book is dark and gritty and completely unforgettable!
I practically inhaled it within a day of receiving it. When I had to step away from it to return to normal life, I found myself thinking of it and wanting to go back to finish it.
The characters in this book are all so delightfully grey and completely unaware of it. The moral compasses of these people is something I’m gonna think about for a long long time.
This is a gripping thriller that will captivate fans of true crime podcasts and psychological suspense, as it delves into the dark world of confessions, secrets, and the blurred lines between good and evil, making it a must-read for anyone who loves a twisty, mind-bending mystery.
Thankyou NetGalley and Poisoned Pen press for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Suspense, mystery, and some horror make up this heart pounding psychological thriller! Amazing writing and addictive storyline. The author had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The authors notes mention one of the characters is from his previous works and I will be adding it to my TBR list!
Poe is the host of a true crime podcast where callers can anonymously confess their crimes. When a caller makes the claim that he killed Poe’s mother, she knows he’s lying - because she killed him. While Poe tries to find out who this mystery caller is, she also has to entertain the thought that she might have killed the wrong man.
I know it’s early, but this is going to be the best psychological thriller of 2025! Poe has a podcast where she talks to criminals who confess their crimes. But, the tables turn when it’s Poe on the other side being forced to confess what she’s done. I don’t want to say too much because this book is best not knowing everything and letting it all play out. It goes back and forth between telling the story leading up to the podcast, and the actual podcast transcript of Poe’s confession. I absolutely loved this book!
Thanks so much for the opportunity to read!
Wow. I absolutely loved this one & could not put it down. This was CREEPY. Last night after I was reading, I had to check my closet & my shower for murderers.
Poe has a podcast where she allows people to confess to crimes that they have done to get it off their chest. Then someone comes on her show with awful, traumatic ties to her past and forces her life to become part of the show. He begins to stalk her.
This book creeped me out and it definitely kept me guessing. I hate to reveal too much when it comes to thrillers, because I feel like it’s better to go in mostly blind. But basically Poe did something that she needs to confess to and theres a very good backstory to that, as well. There were times I thought Poe was a little creepy herself.
I loved the formatting of this book. It went back and forth from events leading up to a certain day filled with a climax of events. I felt this really built the suspense. I can’t say enough good things about this one, just READ IT.
Thank you to netgalley for this free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Wow what a ride that was. Fast paced, complex, complicated in the best way and full of unexpected twists and turns. The story had me guessing til the very unexpected end.
A fantastic read, 5 stars.

AMAZING THRILLER!
This book is so intriguing chapter after chapter of new crimes discussed by criminals who committed the crimes! The suspense, mystery and more!
A few amazing lines catch my eye from this author, “Your going to learn a lot about regret”, “And how hobbled they are before they succumb to death”!
I love the different stories within one book! What an amazingly talented author!
Thank you Carter Wilson, Poisoned Pen Press & NetGalley for allowing me to read this Great book!
In "Tell Me What You Did" by Carter Wilson, Poe hosts a podcast where people reveal their darkest secrets. But Poe has her own hidden past, including witnessing her mother’s murder. When a man claiming to be her mother's killer reappears on her podcast, she has to face the terrifying secrets she's been running from.
I was thrilled to get my hands on an advanced reader's copy of this book, and it did not disappoint! IT HAD ME SHOOK! From the moment I started, I had to remind myself to breathe—the suspense is that intense. If you're a crime junkie, obsessed with podcasts and serial killer stories, this one will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you double-checking your locks every night. Grab a copy as soon as it’s available and brace yourself for a chilling read.
Consider me thrilled—my heart was audibly racing as I ripped through this book.
Filled with true crime energy, Tell Me What You Did takes a unique approach to a classic structure—upon starting this, I was a bit worried that nothing would be super suspenseful or interesting because key information is presented right away. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Even with minimal twisting and turning, Wilson built insane tension that keeps building to the end.
Our main protagonist, Poe, & her father had a genuine dynamic that was realistic and a little tear-jerking in the best way. They are both pleasantly self-aware. What I most enjoyed is that Poe is the epitome of unapologetic (& just) female rage.
A gory-fun read!
