Tell me What You Did had an exciting start that immediately grabbed me and had me anticipating what was to come. I loved the way the podcast fit into this story and was a major element rather than simply being a detail on the side. Unfortunately, the early potential didn't develop quite as I expected, and I struggled with the second half.
I expected this book to be a mystery based thriller, and it wasn't really that. There were moments of intensity that briefly had me on the edge of my seat, but ultimately I guessed the ending early on and the increasingly farfetched actions of the main character, Poe, went far enough that I couldn't fully suspend disbelief and get invested in her story.
I enjoyed the first half of the book, and there were a few genuinely suspenseful, creepy passages. The second half may not have delivered on the promise of the first chapters for me, but I have no doubt that many will enjoy this one more than I did. Readers who love podcast related, plot driven thrillers should definitely give it a try.

This book has a great concept: a podcaster who listens to people’s biggest secrets who is holding on to a dark hidden past of her own. The writing is top-notch. I was hooked fast and deeply invested in our heroine Poe’s story. The writing takes place on two timelines that alternate by chapter and occur a few days apart. During the earlier timeline, told in standard prose, we meet Poe and her story and background are revealed. The later timeline is told purely in dialogue as an episode of her podcast. The only thing stopping the book from getting 5 stars is that the last 1/3 of the book seemed to drag a little and bits of story were repeated. A stronger edit cutting maybe 25 pages would have earned it a 5 star rating, but as is, it’s a strong 4.5/5 ⭐️

I absolutely love thrillers with a podcast theme and when I read the synopsis for this, I couldn’t wait to dive in!
And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This was creepy, unnerving and downright ADDICTIVE! I could not stop reading.
Poe has a podcast where the guests come on to confess to their crimes and dark secrets. Until one guest comes on familiar to her and also threatens to turn the tables.
This one blew me away. A must read for thriller fans!

Much like recent trends, Tell Me What You Did is a thriller novels centering centering around a podcast. However, this one has a twist.
This is the story of Poe, a woman with a tragic past who now hosts a podcast where her guests can confess to heinous acts under the veil of anonymity. But the tables are turned on her when a guest appears to have very personal, intimate knowledge about the murder of Poe’s mother.
There is no slow build-up with this story, which was a little jarring for me at first and had me feeling a little confused. However, once I settled into the storyline, I was captivated.
The last 1/3 of the book was very fast paced, and I couldn’t stop reading. The twists were ones I didn’t foresee but not so outlandish that I totally had to suspend my disbelief.
Definitely suggest adding this to your TBR if you enjoy thrillers with mixed media elements.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I could not get enough of this book. I loved every second of it! I loved that the chapters were short - it felt so easy to read. I was literally getting anxious reading this book because I so badly wanted to get to the end to read the resolution haha! My only complaint was the very ending - and this *may* be a spoiler, so I apologize, but I will try not to give too much away. The fight scene at the end should have been more flushed out. It being resolved so quickly was very on-theme for the book, but I would've liked to have that one scene specifically drawn out a bit more or to have gotten more information about what happened after, e.g. conversations between the characters, etc. Besides that, I really enjoyed the whole thing and will be recommending this to my followers on Instagram.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinions.

Poe's story is fascinating from beginning to end. This is the kind of book that makes your brain spin thinking about all the possibilities and the end does not disappoints. I read the whole book in exact 4 days.

This was SUCH a gripping and intense thriller that thoroughly engaged me! I absolutely could not stop reading this—many twists and turns kept my mind racing!

This is an entirely WILD page turner of a book - or as Poe's mom would say, a ripper!
Poe Webb's podcast Tell Me What You Did has gained massive popularity and success. She allows people to come on her show with stories they need to confess. She can't protect them from the police after the fact, but if they want to unburden themselves, they can do it on her platform. When a man named Ian comes on her show claiming to be her mother's killer, she's sure it can't be true, because seven years ago, she killed that man. What follows is an ever escalating game of cat and mouse that plays out out over a podcast livestream, leading to an explosive finale.
The high stakes premise had me hooked from the very beginning, and the short, snappy chapters had me cruising through Poe's terrible October. Ian was an entirely terrifying adversary, and experiencing Poe's dilemma of wondering if she killed the right man added even more palpable suspense to each scene.
Tell Me What You Did is an extremely fast paced, gritty thriller that will have readers glued to the page!

Poe Webb, a true crime podcast host, invites anonymous criminals to confess on her show. While many of her interviews amount purely to entertainment, her devoted fan base has actually helped solve a handful of cases, but her most recent interview shakes things up when the strange guest is claiming to be the man who murdered her mom.
This such a good thriller! I absolutely loved it! I found the story to be a unique take on the typical podcast format that has become popular in the thriller genre. This is told through alternating chapter POVs, with one chapter giving context about the Poe's complex life and the next chapter being podcast interview excerpts. I was highly stressed the whole time and didn't know who or what to believe! Carter Wilson is a new-to-me author, but I've already moved some of his books towards the top of my TBR. This comes out on January 28, and I can't recommend it enough!

I stayed up WAY past my bedtime to finish this book. It had me absolutely hooked from the first couple of chapters!! 6⭐️ read!! Highly recommend if you're a thriller lover!

Poe Webb hosts a podcast where people come on air to confess their crimes. She is caught in a game of cat and mouse with a man claiming to be her mother’s killer. He threatens to expose Poe’s secrets and harm the ones she loves.
This book had me on the edge of my seat. This book is the definition of a thriller and left me sleeping with the light on. I loved the way the setting added to suspense. This book is told with a nonlinear and contains podcast elements. Both of these factors kept me engaged and wanting to find out what was going to happen next. Thank you Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for this ARC!

Addictive & gripping thrilling mystery!
Holy $hit!!!!
This was a 6☆ read! Might be my favorite thriller of this year!
I started this one THIS MORNING! Not yesterday, not two days ago, this morning when I clocked in for my 10hr shift at work at 8am and finished it as of 11:28pm! I could not put it down! I HAD to find out what was happening next!
This is the must-read for the year 2025, and I cannot wait for yall to read this one so we can talk about it!
I absolutely loved Poe and Bailey.
The story was so well structured, the tension and twist so well planned, I did not see any of it coming! The end had me shocked!
I will definitely be checking out the authors' other work. This was amazing!
A huge thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this e-book ARC in exchange for an honest review

I really loved the true crime podcast theme of this book. It was definitely a wild one but I loved it!
This book kept me on my toes, multiple times I thought I had figured it out & multiple times I was wrong! This book really spoke to trauma and being a survivor. Being pushed to your absolute limit and dealing with your actions after reacting.
I loved the family dynamic including the sweet pets!

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
Tell Me What You Did was a fresh take on the thriller genre that was undoubtedly an enjoyable read. It kept me on my toes and had me wanting to find out the truth with every page. The best part about the book was how wonderfully grey the characters were. There were no perfect character, each one of them had their own flaws and pasts that humanised them.
Having the tale twisted where Poe, the interviewer is forced to become the interviewee was such a delightful change of pace and even the jumping back and forth in the narrative worked better than I would have expected. I often struggle with books that jump back and forth in time, but for this book it just worked.
The only thing that I struggled with was actually the description of the characters and trying to visualise them. For the first third of the book, I was not sure if Poe was a girl or a boy😅 Not that it really mattered for the story, but it made it a little harder to picture the character in your mind.
Other than that the story was solid and there were plenty of moments that sent chills down my spine. Definitely a book worth checking out!

Holy heart thumper...I just could not turn the pages fast enough even as I hated to get to the end.
I loved this book. I loved how feisty, flawed and real Poe was and I couldn't wait to unravel the mystery surrounding her mother's death and the identity of her "harasser". I loved her relationship with both her dad and her dog, Bailey.. This makes me want to go back and read every single thing Carter Wilson has ever written...and I will.
Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy. It is my pleasure to write an honest review.

It sounds like you're describing a compelling mystery or thriller novel! Based on your description, here's a short review template you could use:

If you’re looking for an exciting thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this book is a must-read. The plot twists are unpredictable, and the author masterfully keeps the identity of the perpetrator a mystery until the very end. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, another twist sends you reeling. It’s a gripping story that will keep you guessing all the way through.

Hooked from the very first page! 4.5 stars! Definitely recommend! Fast paced and kept you wanting to know what happens next!

I liked the blurb about the book. The way the author wrote the chapters with the different times was appealing and helped grab my attention more.
I kept wanting to read it even though it was very repetitive in its wording and I kind of assumed who the killer was. It was however still an enjoyable read. Thank you.

As a true crime podcast enthusiast, the fact that the main character is a true crime podcast host really made me want to read it. Poe has a podcast in which she allows people to confess to crimes they have committed. Eventually, someone connected to her past comes along and the thriller begins. Honestly, this book creeped me out, and I'm not usually one to get creeped out. This only made me want to read more. I would highly recommend it. Thank you for providing me with this ARC.

I loved the podcast element in Tell Me What You Did, it was very unique and the book had me hooked quickly. Unfortunately about halfway into it, I was bored. The story itself got really repetitive and very predictable. The big reveal was very obvious if you read any thriller/murder mystery. The writing was strong, but overall there just need to be more to the story or it needed to be shorter.
