Unique premise to a thriller about a podcaster with a secret in her past. I would suggest going into this book blind because the twists are delicious and the main character is morally great. Love that!
New to me author and I look forward to checking out more from him.

This is a story about a woman named Poe Webb. Poe hosts a true crime podcast where people can anonymously confess their crimes. A man appears on her show one day that confesses to be her mother’s murderer. This forces Poe to second guess because Poe thinks her mother’s murderer is dead. This book had a lot of plot twists that were very surprising. Other parts were sort of predictable. I didn’t love any of the main characters but the suspense kept my interest. The ending was a tad far fetched but overall I enjoyed reading this one. Thanks NetGalley for the advanced cooy of thid book. I give it four stars. I would definitely read more books by this author.

This is my first book by Carter Wilson. I didn’t particularly like the transcript chapters but I do understand why they are important to the story. I like how there were two timelines running and eventually they met.
Poe is the FMC who has seen her mom’s murder. She was only a girl at the time and it haunted her. She would do anything to find her mom’s murderer and bring him to justice. Well her own form of justice.
Poe grows up and moves to New York…. Upon moving back she hides some secrets about her time in New York. She starts a podcast with her boyfriend Kip where she talked to people who have something to confess. This podcast ends up tying back into her mom’s murder and Poe’s secrets from New York!
I did NOT see the twist coming in the story line.
I did read where the author mentioned that Alice in this book is from another one of his stories and while they aren’t necessarily connected it is nice to see characters cross over.

I read this in record time… I couldn’t put it down. The story was unique and I loved how the dual timelines were executed. Poe was such an interesting character and her dilemma made for such a compelling story. I was sweating by the end of it, just totally on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend!! Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Poe Webb hosts a true crime podcast that invites guests to confess their crimes anonymously. Although she can't promise the police won't pursue them, the allure of anonymity and notoriety is often irresistible. However, when a peculiar man, eerily familiar, confesses to the murder of her mother, Poe harbors a secret he's unaware of: her mother's murderer is already dead, killed by Poe herself. Yet, he holds a piece of information that no one else does, and the truth is on the verge of being exposed.
Gripping, haunting, and compelling, this book compelled me to abandon all else in pursuit of the truth. For enthusiasts of serpentine psychological thrillers, this narrative is sure to convert you into a devoted crime junkie.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

When the interviewer becomes the interviewee.
With one of the most popular podcasts around, Poe’s followers are off the charts. So, what is the subject of her podcast? Well, let me tell you…Poe gives an uninterrupted platform for people to come on her show and confess whatever crime they’ve committed. 15 minutes to get their story out. Anonymously, of course.
Her latest guest appearance shares his confession that hits too close to home. He just admitted to Poe’s mother’s murder! But that can’t be…. And now he’s insisting on a second interview only this time he wants to interview Poe! Wow, talk about whiplash.
The tables have turned.
A rapid-paced thriller told in part through the podcast itself. Though the book is fairly long, the short chapters kept it moving at a steady pace.
I love that Carter Wilson brought back one of his original characters from one of his most popular books, Mr. Tender’s Girl. But not to worry if you haven’t read that one yet. This book is very much a strong stand-alone. Still, you may want to go back and pick that one up after you finish this latest.
Carter Wilson is quickly becoming a go to author for me! Hope he will for you too!

What I liked:
🏘️THE PACE! This was one of those books that you start and are hooked from page 1. I could not put this one down and when I wasn’t able to read (insert childcare duties), I was constantly thinking about it. It was so fast moving and always had me on my toes waiting to turn the next page.
👏THE CONCEPT! I am a big fan of crime podcasts and after reading the description of this book, I knew it was for me (and hopefully you). I love the idea of having a podcast where criminal confess anonymously to their crimes. I would hands down listen to this today if it were a real thing.
📚 THE WRITING STYLE! The back and forth between the live podcast episode on Halloween to the weeks leading up to it was THE perfect way to setup the book. I love books that have excerpts or dialogue in a different format (ie. Emails, texts, podcasts).
What I didn't care for:
🫣 The only thing that I found hard to keep straight, were the suspect names. Without spoiling anything, there is a part in the book where all of the names are given and I had to sit there for a minute and make sure I had it all correct in my head. Maybe this isn’t a downside and just a good thriller that makes you think. Really wasn’t much that I didn’t enjoy from this one!

This was an absolute nail biter of a book! It was so hard to put it down and go to sleep. I thought it about it all day until I could get back to reading it. And it's going to be a bit before I can shake off the chills from it.
Poe Webb has a podcast where she lets people call in and make their confessions. Everything is good until the day she talks to one man that she thinks looks vaguely familiar and he confesses to having killed her mom. She had watched her mom be murdered when she was young, but she knows this man didn't kill her....because Poe killed the man who did...or did she? And so begins an edge of your seat ride through this book. Poe has never told her dad or boyfriend that she witnessed her mom's murder and she definitely hasn't told them how she killed the man responsible for it. As this man stalks Poe, forcing her to speak with him on a live episode of her podcast, breaks into her home, and attempts to abduct someone close to her, she has to decide to tell those she loves her secrets and how much to put them in harms way.
Poe is a great character, very much Batman vibes, a vigilante almost. Her tongue is sharp and cutting but she's hurt from all her trauma. Her dad and the animals they care for are also wonderfully written. It's clear where she gets her bite when her dad is introduced. The boyfriend, Kip, is unlikeable. At the beginning of the book, he's trying to end things because he "knows she's keeping something from him". Not something like cheating, but a secret from her past. Ugh, who does that to someone? Everyone has secrets from their childhood or just a time before meeting someone that they don't like to talk about it. He kept pushing, even after she talked to him about seeing her mother die. Obviously it's a thriller and he was a red herring but it was annoying and she kept wanting to make things right with him. It was a huge character flaw for this otherwise strong woman.
Overall definitely a thrilling story. It moves fast, the down time between big stuff is needed to give the reader's heart a break. There's a character that Poe befriends that is from the author's earlier book, so I'm excited to check that out too. This one has a very Harlan Coben feel to the story but with less twists and turns, just action and thrills, but all fast paced and rewarding at the end.

This was almost a perfect book for me I’d say 4.75 stars!I really enjoyed the premise of this book I liked the cat and mouse game that was played throughout the book and how it had jumped back and forth from Halloween night and what had brought Poe to that night.

Tell Me What You Did started out with a bang and grabbed my attention immediately. Podcasts, true crime and serial killers, what’s not to like? Here’s my confession: this book was way too long and got rather dull the second half. Although billed as a thriller, I think it reads more like a mystery. There were no big twists and turns and it was obvious where the story was going. Overall, I did enjoy the book. Just wish it would have been about 100 pages shorter.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Press for the ARC.

A tense thriller, told in alternating timelines. An unreliable narrator menaced by an equally untrustworthy villain. Or is the narrator the monster? Wilson keeps the tale twisting and the reader guessing until the last pages.

Tell Me What You Did is an unresistable thriller. Complex characters, twists, revenge, and the fast pace made the book difficult to put down. I read thrillers almost exclusively and found this to be top tier. I will be reading more of Carter Wilson after finding this book so intriguing. Thank you to Netgalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Carter Wilson for allowing me to read this ARC. I hope to see this one blow up because it deserves it.

This book was a really good read! It did take me a minute to really get into it but once I did, I couldn’t put it down.
Poe and her podcast is a truly interesting concept and I love the way it played into the rest of the story. This was my first book from Carter Wilson and I will definitely be reading more!

Poe is the host of a popular thriller podcast that encourages people to call in and anonymously confess to past crimes. She is shocked when a caller confessed to killing her mother years ago, because she believes she killed her mother’s murderer already. She becomes intertwined in a dangerous game of cat and mouse while questioning if she may have been responsible for the death of an innocent person after all.
This was a fast paced thriller that was hard to put down and kept me turning pages! Poe is a very interesting and morally gray narrator who definitely makes the reader question right and wrong. I feel like I have read many thrillers that utilize podcasts as a storytelling method, but this one has a unique twist to it. The only thing that kept this thriller from being a five star read for me was the lack of a shocking twist. However, it was still an intense and engaging thrill ride from start to finish. Fans of suspenseful thrillers, true crime podcasts, and mysteries will be sure to love this book.
Thank you to Carter Wilson and Poisoned Pen Press for the arc and opportunity to read and review this book early.

It was an interesting premise that immediately turned tables onto the protagonist, and that was not a surprise, but the story bogged somehow. I'm not entirely sure where I lost interest but unfortunately I did; to say more would be to give away plot points and I don't want to ruin anyone else's reading.

I struggled to get into this book. The podcast
Style wasn't for me at all. I’m sorry, Thanks for the early read Net Galley

I was in need of a creepy thriller, and this book delivered.
This story was tense and intriguing from the beginning! Poe is a podcast host, allowing people to anonymously confess their crimes to the world. What her audience doesn’t know is, Poe is hiding a crime of her own. When a man shows up on her podcast claiming to be the person who killed her mother when she was a child, she knows this must be impossible.
I would definitely recommend this read for thriller fans! It was nicely paced, believable, and kept me on my toes.
Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC

This kept me on the edge of my seat! Quick thriller with a twist and turn interspersed. This was my first read from this author and would definitely pick up another book from them.

The plot has a compelling and intriguing premise, especially for a psychological thriller. The concept of a true crime podcast where confessions can lead to unexpected twists is quite modern and relevant. Here are some aspects of the story that stand out:
Poe Webb is a well-developed protagonist with a traumatic past that shapes her actions and decisions. The internal conflict she faces about whether she killed the right person adds depth to her character and keeps the audience engaged.
The idea of Ian Hindley claiming to be the real killer creates a gripping tension. The stakes are raised significantly when he abducts Poe’s boyfriend, which adds urgency and danger to the plot.
The story also explores themes of guilt, the quest for truth, and the consequences of one's actions. Poe's journey from being a victim to possibly being a murderer herself raises ethical questions that can provoke thought in the audience.
The revelation that Ian is Leopold's brother adds another layer of complexity and can serve as a shocking twist that kept me on my toes.
Overall, your plot is engaging and has the potential to keep readers guessing until the end. It combines elements of suspense, moral dilemmas, and psychological depth, which are key components of a successful psychological thriller.

🎙️ M A N I P U L A T I O N M O N D A Y review 🎙️ featuring “Tell Me What You Did” by Carter Wilson!
BOOK REVIEW: 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤/5
Poe Webb hosts a popular true crime podcast that gets people to anonymously confess their crimes to her. She listens to all the gruesome and shocking details of other people’s heinous crimes … meanwhile she isn’t so innocent herself.
When Poe was a child she witnessed her mother’s brutal murder and never told a soul. The murderer threatened to kill her and her father if she ever spoke a word of what she saw. She spent years searching for her mother’s killer and refused to give up on getting revenge 🔪!
When a new guest on her show claims to be her mother’s murderer, Poe is totally thrown off. This man knows a lot of specific details about what happened that only she and him would know. But this doesn’t make sense at all because Poe killed the murderer herself years after the fact … or did she??
🔥 HOT DAMN this book is FANTASTIC!! This book is so multi layered and gripping that I became immediately locked in and ignored all life responsibilities to finish it! I already love a podcast thriller, but the addition of a devious cat and mouse game with a possible serial killer just added to the intensity and creepiness of the story line!
Thank you kindly to @carterwilsonauthor @poisonedpenpress @netgalley for my advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review! This book releases on January 28th, 2025!
