What a read this was, tense and gripping and very dark in other words just up my street.
The notion of a true crime podcast that involves callers confessing to their secrets was very interesting and when the tables are turned that's when the tension builds and builds.
Poe is the host of the podcasts and from the beginning we find out that she is fighting her own demons.I found her very interesting flaws and all.
Poe and Alice a character I understand is from an earlier book, and makes an appearance in this story would make a great team and adding Kip Poes boyfriend in the mix would be great,I'd like to know how their realionship progresses.
My first book by Carter Wilson but I'll be catching up with earlier books as the writing is deliciously dark just how I like my books

“Tell Me What You Did" is a gripping revenge thriller woven with the intensity of a true crime podcast. Dark secrets unfold in unexpected ways, keeping readers on edge. The less you know before diving in, the better the twists and turns will hit. A masterful blend of suspense and shock.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Carter Wilson for the opportunity to read and review "Tell Me What You Did" prior to its publication date.
What a fun thriller book this was! I’m so glad I got this ARC because I loved this!
The idea of the book and the plot felt so original and came together so well. I will take off some points because I definitely knew the “twist,” but the ending still felt so satisfying and it was overall just fun to try and connect all of the dots.
I love Poe, and I definitely respect the love she has for her dog 😂 I found myself really rooting for her during this whole ideal. Also, the writing was descriptive and there are definitely enough horror elements to keep you entertained.
Again, not much of a twist and there were some grammatical errors; however, I read this in one night so you know I enjoyed the hell out of it!
IIt was a fast-paced, engaging, and entertaining read that I would definitely recommend if you enjoy unique thrillers!
4.5 🌟 This was a delicious case of cat and mouse! I got right into the story. I loved the back and forth between real-time and the podcast. It was addictive. I love a strong female character, and Poe was it for me!
Consider me thrilled—my heart was audibly racing as I ripped through this book.
Filled with true crime energy, Tell Me What You Did takes a unique approach to a classic structure—upon starting this, I was a bit worried that nothing would be super suspenseful or interesting because key information is presented right away. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Even with minimal twisting and turning, Wilson built insane tension that keeps building to the end.
Our main protagonist, Poe, & her father had a genuine dynamic that was realistic and a little tear-jerking in the best way. They are both pleasantly self-aware. What I most enjoyed is that Poe is the epitome of unapologetic (& just) female rage.
A gory-fun read!
If I had one word to describe this book it would be ‘unhinged’! From the first page to the last this book is dark and gritty and completely unforgettable!
I practically inhaled it within a day of receiving it. When I had to step away from it to return to normal life, I found myself thinking of it and wanting to go back to finish it.
The characters in this book are all so delightfully grey and completely unaware of it. The moral compasses of these people is something I’m gonna think about for a long long time.
This is a gripping thriller that will captivate fans of true crime podcasts and psychological suspense, as it delves into the dark world of confessions, secrets, and the blurred lines between good and evil, making it a must-read for anyone who loves a twisty, mind-bending mystery.
Thankyou NetGalley and Poisoned Pen press for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Suspense, mystery, and some horror make up this heart pounding psychological thriller! Amazing writing and addictive storyline. The author had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The authors notes mention one of the characters is from his previous works and I will be adding it to my TBR list!
Poe is the host of a true crime podcast where callers can anonymously confess their crimes. When a caller makes the claim that he killed Poe’s mother, she knows he’s lying - because she killed him. While Poe tries to find out who this mystery caller is, she also has to entertain the thought that she might have killed the wrong man.
17 years ago, Poe’s mother was murdered. Today, Poe is the host of a podcast who has guests confess to secret crimes, when one guest confesses to killing Poe’s mother. Short chapters are always a win in my book and this kept me intrigued the entire time, with an ending I somehow didn’t guess. However, I felt like something was missing. I’m not sure what it was, maybe I didn’t feel connected to Poe and her boyfriend, or her dad was two dimensional, but something overall was missing.
I absolutely flew through this story, it starts off fast and doesn't let up. The true crime podcast really added to the story and I did laugh when she repeatedly acknowledged her own bad decision making comparing it to books.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
Fantastic and modern, I loved the inclusion of the podcast as it seemed to really fit well with the current obsession with true crime in that format. The author’s writing style is truly immersive and I found myself struggling to sleep after reading this book -it honestly scared me, which is not something I can say about many books other than Stephen King’s. It’s a great plot, the characters are interesting - there’s nothing bad to say about it!
I know it’s early, but this is going to be the best psychological thriller of 2025! Poe has a podcast where she talks to criminals who confess their crimes. But, the tables turn when it’s Poe on the other side being forced to confess what she’s done. I don’t want to say too much because this book is best not knowing everything and letting it all play out. It goes back and forth between telling the story leading up to the podcast, and the actual podcast transcript of Poe’s confession. I absolutely loved this book!
Thanks so much for the opportunity to read!
Wow. I absolutely loved this one & could not put it down. This was CREEPY. Last night after I was reading, I had to check my closet & my shower for murderers.
Poe has a podcast where she allows people to confess to crimes that they have done to get it off their chest. Then someone comes on her show with awful, traumatic ties to her past and forces her life to become part of the show. He begins to stalk her.
This book creeped me out and it definitely kept me guessing. I hate to reveal too much when it comes to thrillers, because I feel like it’s better to go in mostly blind. But basically Poe did something that she needs to confess to and theres a very good backstory to that, as well. There were times I thought Poe was a little creepy herself.
I loved the formatting of this book. It went back and forth from events leading up to a certain day filled with a climax of events. I felt this really built the suspense. I can’t say enough good things about this one, just READ IT.
Thank you to netgalley for this free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
The premise of this book is so. freaking. good. It's instantly grabby and will appeal to those who love a protagonist with a mysterious past, podcast-centric thrillers, and locked-door spookiness. However, fairly early on there were some elements that were more intense (and a little more graphic) than I had expected based on the marketing blurb. It might not bother some people, but I decided to err on the side of caution and DNF. I really do think a ton of readers (who are stronger than me lol) will love this book, and I'm excited for them to read it!
In this gripping thriller, Poe hosts a popular podcast called "Tell Me What You Did" with her boyfriend, Kipp, who handles production. Their show takes a dark turn when a guest, Ian Hindley, confesses to killing Poe's mother. However, the truth is more twisted: Poe's mother was actually murdered by a man named Leopold, whom Poe later killed in a quest for vengeance. Having witnessed her mother's murder, Poe kept this traumatic secret for 17 years, only revealing it to her father after Ian's shocking revelation on her podcast. The central question remains: Did Poe kill the right person?
Wow, this is one fast-paced and engrossing book, I was hooked within just a few paces and found Poe Webb and her true-crime podcast and real-life gruesome family history engaging - she's no saint by any means but the motivation for her actions rang true, Who among us wouldn't want revenge for our mother's brutal stabbing right in front of us or wrestle with how to rid herself of the demonds of revenge and guilt that tear her up inside? Although there was only one major mystery (and I figured out the answer very early on), it didn't lessen my enjoyment - the writing style is simple and chapters are short (over 100 of them), lending a propulsive feel to the read and I liked the juxtaposition of transcripts from the podcast episodes which lent an up close and personal feeling to the narrative. I'm predicting this one will gain a lot of new fans for Carter Wilson.
Started this book and finished in one day! Yes, it's one of those books that you pick up and start reading, and before you know it your done. It's that good!! Poe does a pod cast and interviews her mothers killer or is he? So good ! 100% would recommend!!
Whoa. This was such an addictive read!
Y’all know I love a podcast and this is one with a twist. Poe is the host of a highly rated true crime podcast that gives space for people to confess their crimes under the guise of anonymity. Things take a dark turn when she herself becomes the subject of her own podcast.
I was hooked from the very beginning. This story is told by our main character with almost every other chapter serving as a transcript from the podcast. This was done so incredibly well!
📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 If anonymity was the name of the game (or premise of a podcast), what secret would you publicly confess? Carter Wilson takes the reader on a wild ride when podcast Poe Webb is forced to face her own deep dark secret about her mothers death. Tell Me What You Did is a gripping, fast-paced book with the right amount of unease and morally gray characters. The format changes from different timelines and includes podcast transcriptions, creating an immersive and fascinating storyline. The only certainty the reader can trust is the need to keep turning to pages until the very end!
Review is on Goodreads and will be posted on instagram closer to publication date and on Amazon when published!
Carter Wilson seems to just keep getting better and better, because somehow every book of his is my new favorite. Tell Me What You Did is an absolutely gripping thriller that hooks you right away and doesn't let go until the end. There is so much tension and suspense from the beginning all the way through the heart pounding climax. Poe was a fantastic main character. I loved how morally gray she was, and I also loved her awesome dad and the relationship they had. Oh, and her dog of course! This book is over 400 pages, but it flew by thanks to the lightning-fast pace, short chapters and transcripts from the podcast. When I received my approval email, I decided I would go ahead and start reading and the next thing I knew I was at 40% already. I would have read it one sitting if I had had the time! For me, this was the rare book that isn't just good but reminds me why I fell in love with reading in the first place. I already can't wait to read what Mr. Wilson writes next, but in the meantime, I picked up Mister Tender's Girl and The Dead Husband and I'm looking forward to reading them! Highly, highly recommended!

Well that was a fun read and from the synopsis I gathered it would be , I am feeling very satisfied at the moment !!
If you’re a fan of True Crime Podcasts then you’ll love this fiction story that is centred around our morally grey FMC Poe who is peppered with her flaws.
“ What I saw that day is a secret I’ve carried for seventeen years. And I have a strong suspicion it’s a secret the whole world will soon know “
Can you spot a lie ??

Poe Webb has a very popular true crime podcast which is different from your average podcasts. She interviews people and gets them to confess their crimes to her and based on their testimonies she deciphers if they are telling the truth or not .
We are taken on a wild turn of events when a peculiar guest she is interviewing gives Poe the creeps and she instantly knows that things are going to get ugly for her because this man claims he murdered her mother years ago , but Poe has a secret about that tragic day that no one else knows ! 👀
I really liked this book , I loved the format of the Podcast between Poe and Ian and found the story went so quickly, in fact before I knew it the book was over .So if you’re looking for something thats a bit different and definitely gripping 🧐 then be sure to add this one to your TBR!
Although I had my suspicions about a few things, the ending had a small twist I didn’t expect which was just the icing on the cake !!
Thank you NetGalley , Poisoned Pen Press and Carter Wilson for this fun ARC!
