Sadly, this wasn't a book for me. I wanted to like this one, it sounded good in the blurb, but this one was a let down at every turn.

I found this to be slow, boring, confusing, and the MC was flat, uninteresting and couldn't decide if she was a "badass bitch', and felt guilty at every turn. If there was a twist, I didn't see it at all.

2 stars = didn't like it.

I really do enjoy when authors add a podcast setting into their books. As a true crime fan that really meshes both of my worlds together. Now I did enjoy this... but I think it was a little slow and predictable. I found myself still being interested in the ending but truly couldn't get over the fact there were 100 small chapters... it just made the book feel much longer. All in all this was ok.

I absolutely loved this book! I also liked Wilson's earlier book Mister Tender's Girl and am excited to hit up his backlist.

From the very first page, "Tell Me What You Did" grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. This psychological thriller by Carter Wilson wastes no time, throwing readers into a relentless game of cat and mouse from the jump.

At the heart of the story is Poe, a popular podcaster who specializes in true crime. But things take a turn when a stranger comes forward claiming responsibility for her mother's murder—except Poe knows her mother's killer is dead.

The premise is gold, and Wilson executes it with razor-sharp precision. The tension is constant—every chapter is filled with unease, pulling me deeper into the mystery. The pacing is fast (which I love!)… well, almost. While the book starts strong and moves forward rapidly, I hit a bit of a lull in the middle. Nothing significant—just enough to make me consider setting it down for the night. But fortunately, the last quarter of the book jumps into high gear again, leading to an action-packed conclusion.

This was my first Carter Wilson book, but it won't be my last. If you're a thriller fan looking for a book that keeps you guessing (and possibly looking over your shoulder), "Tell Me What You Did" is well worth the read. Buckle up—this one is a ride.

Poe is a podcaster who invites people to confess anonymously to their crimes on air, followed by a segment when she asks them questions. A novel concept with a growing following of listeners with possible consequences for those confessing their sins.  But this time, Poe is the confessor on her own show.
Years ago, at age 13, she watched her mother being stabbed in their home by an unknown man. Only she saw him and he was never caught by police,  but she made it her mission to find him. What happened when she did is what led to her sitting in the hot seat on her own show.
The narrative flips between her on air confession and the years and days that led up to it. It was difficult to imagine Poe's role in the narrative from the descriptives about her in the story. Her quiet personalty just didn't match what she did and the drive necessary to produce the outcome. Her love interest was also without fire as well, involved but bland.
Lots of twists as you read along with an exciting ending for the reader.

This book was just so good, it’s as simple as that. It grabbed my attention in the first couple pages and never let it go. I’ve read a lot of thrillers but none quite like this. Loved the podcast trope as well - I highly recommend it! Thank you Carter Wilson, Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC!

Carter Wilson presents a book with this premise:

A podcast where serial killers can confess their crimes anonymously and accept the consequences while finally getting it off their shoulders. It's beyond intriguing and a little macabre, thinking that you could place your headphones in and listen to someone who really did those things while you work, drive, or clean. Poe, our main character, has a lot of secrets and they're kind of on the verge of running some things in her life.

Until Hindley.

He has a confession that could destroy every single thing Poe has ever thought to be true... and he plans on it.

This book is fast-paced and engaging, which I think is a huge deal for the way the plot is set up. We alternate between the podcast that reveals it all, and the time with Poe leading up to the podcast. The book keeps you on your toes and is definitely a kindle/book-clutching experience. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, heart-stopping read.

Big thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for the arc!

I liked the premise of the book, however, I feel like it was poorly executed. It really dragged on at times.

Such a great read, right away it felt like a dark and twisty read and this kept me hooked the whole way through.

This is a book I wasn't sure I could finish only because it gave me the heebie-jeebies at specific points.

Poe is an intriguing character. She has a podcast where people confess their biggest sins/crimes to her, which is ironic because she killed someone herself years ago, her mother's killer. Or did she? With the introduction of Ian Hindley, he knows too much to be a random stalker. What is his connection to her mother's death? I think there is a hint to this, but I missed it.

I was not a fan of Poe's. I don't feel like we really got to know her at all in this book. We know surface details, but the book does not delve into her beyond that. We know she drinks a lot and curses like a sailor, which adds very little to the book. I did like that she and her father seemed to grow a little closer throughout the incidents in the book. She is close to her dog, Bailey, and comes to appreciate her dad's cat.

Despite my dislike for Poe, the story was intriguing. Her podcast allowed criminals to confess their crimes. However, I was confused because two phrases were used: Tell Me What You Did and Confess To Me. I don't know if this was not cleaned up in the editing or if it was done on purpose. However, when the tables are turned, and Poe is pressured into confessing her crime, we learn more about what lengths a person might go to preserve their sanity or right a wrong.

This book was creepy at times and possibly one you shouldn't read at bedtime! However, the story unfolding was engaging, and it has the reader evaluating how they would act or react if in the same situation.

We give this book 4 paws up.

Everything and i mean everything about Tell me what you did was so intriguing and honestly one of the best books i have read.

Full of suspense, mystery and thrills once you start reading you will not want to stop. As a big true crime podcast lover everything about this book was so engaging and had me turning the pages as it was that good. Poe is a character i really liked and i was engrossed in how she was going to find out who this mystery caller was but throughout you and poe herself start questioning if something that happened was right and if she really killed her mother's killer or if said person was innocent.. i was going through loops trying to figure out where everything was going and i enjoyed every second of it. I would recommend this book to all fellow book readers who enjoy a suspense thriller who did it read.

⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounding up)

• cat and mouse thriller
• crime podcast
• short chapters

I was definitely hooked by the blurb, but this one ultimately fell flat for me. I just didn't care about our FMC... the dog was actually my favorite character. I'm looking forward to discussing this with the #thrillerobsessedbuddyread group!

Thank you to Carter Wilson, Poisoned Pen Press, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion,

This was really good. The villain in this story is so perfectly written that it makes you think that you are reading a book from one of the world's most famous serial killers.

This one kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the whole Podcast trope. It is easily becoming one of my favorites!

4.5⭐

Carter Wilson's Tell Me What You Did is a well-written book that expertly explores the darker sides of human nature and the blurred lines between good and evil.

As Poe Webb, the host of a popular true crime podcast called 'Tell Me What You Did', invites guests on to anonymously confess their deepest darkest crimes.

Only Poe can't guarantee that the police won't come after them. But what she can guarantee is her guests anonymity and instant fame. Which is a powerful combination that is hard to resist.

However, Poe is easily able to forget each guest and any crime confessed.

That is, until Ian Hindley appears on the show, claiming to have killed the person responsible for Poe's mother's death. Only Poe believes that's a lie because she committed the crime herself.

But Ian's confessions don't end there. As Poe is left on the air and in a perilous game of cat and mouse.

And with complex characters, and a disturbing yet catchy, fast-paced storyline. This was an impressively shocking psychological thriller. That I'd happily recommend to others.

Tell Me What You Did was such a fast paced thriller that had me hooked from the beginning. It follows Poe, who has a podcast that her guests can come and air their confessions. A man comes on her show telling Poe he killed her mother. Only problem is Poe already knows who killer her mother.....or so she thought.

The pace of this book was good. The shorts chapters are always a bonus but sometimes it made it seem like the book was rushing. Over all I really enjoyed this book. Carter Wilson definitely gained a new fan. I am surprised that the podcast element didn't bother me. This is my second book with this element and I really enjoyed it.
