I love the incorporation of podcasts into mystery/thrillers. This story follows Poe who has a unique podcast, a space for people to anonymously confess their crimes. Interesting premise, fast-paced and exciting.

Even through the chapters moved fast, the overbook was a little drawn out. It's a solid thriller that is best going in blind. It'll be worth it.

I wasn’t expecting this book, and it was best to go into this one blind and just enjoy the plot as it unfolds.
I was hooked right from the start with the short chapters and engaging writing style.
Although I could guess where the plot was going, I couldn't put my Kindle down because I wanted to see what kind of ending this story would have.

This book is told in dual timeline: the present time of the live podcast that changes Poe’s life, and the events from the past leading up to the present.
I liked the script interview format from the present timeline, which felt like watching a live podcast without knowing what’s on the minds between Poe and her latest deranged client.

Poe, the podcast host, is an intriguing and complex character, making this story much more than a simple thriller—it’s thought-provoking too.
Not everything is black and white; there are many grey areas where the author explores important themes such as guilt, revenge, justice, and redemption. It had me pondering what I would do in Poe’s position.

Overall, this is a fun fast-paced, plot driven novel, and I enjoyed my time reading it, even though the last few chapters toward the ending dragged a bit.
I'm definitely willing to try another book by this author and will keep an eye out for one!

RUN DON'T WALK - READ THIS BOOK NOW!

This was such a fantastic book! I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen. I loved the Podcast element and I definitely will have to go back and check out the audio version of this book. I loved the FMC - Poe and don't' blame her one bit for what she did! If you love podcasts and crime thrillers, this one is definitely for you and you won't regret it!

I will definitely check out this author's other books!

DNF at 22%.

This book was vague and predictable.

I went into it blind, having not read the blurb. I couldn't even tell whether the protagonist, Dylan Poe Webb, was a woman or a man. There were no surprises or twists; everything was predictable. I didn't care about the characters, and even if I tried to, the writing was too flat and got in the way.

Overall the book had a good premise and I thought I was really going to enjoy it. However, it did fall short for me. I really enjoyed the story but felt there were some plot holes and just some things that were a little far fetched.

This book is packed with suspense and intrigue, capturing the addictive vibe of a well-crafted podcast. As someone who binge-listens to true crime podcasts, I absolutely loved how this novel was inspired by a popular show, delivering just as much of that page-turning energy. I could not put this book down reading it in one day. Wilson does a fantastic job creating a morally complex female protagonist—someone who feels incredibly relatable but also holds that unpredictable, even unhinged side we all secretly wish we could unleash. I thought I had the ending all figured out, but I was pleasantly shocked by the twist! This book was exactly what I needed to break my reading slump!

I would recommend going into this book blind!!

Ian is a creepyyyyyy guy, omg. I was so nervous for Poe and what would happen. I loved the suspense and creep factors, all while following such a morally grey FMC.

Love the SHORT chapters. You fly right through them because they’re so quick. But even without the short chapters, I was hooked.

The novel moves back and forth between the story as it unfolds and a podcast transcript a couple weeks in the future, until the timelines converge. I loved the podcast element, and it was so integral to this story.

Poe Webb, in her early thirties, is a true crime podcaster famous for her show “tell me what you did,” where people anonymously confess to their crimes committed. Her show guarantees instant fame and anonymity while providing relief for confessing a heavy burden. Poe feels connected to these people because she herself has been harboring a secret for the past seven years. When a strange man appears on her show and claims to have killed her other 17 years ago, Poe is taken by surprise. Poe cannot believe this man is the killer of her mother, because she herself had found the killer and murdered him seven years ago.

Twisty, edgy, heart pounding, and nail biting! This is a story that grips you and holds you to the edge of your seat! Definitely recommend for fans of fast paced psychological thrillers!

This was my first read of the new year, and WOW did I start the year off with a bang! The sheer intensity of the storyline made it impossible to put down. I’ve always enjoyed thrillers that have a podcast premise, but this one was definitely unique. Add in the serial killer angle, and I knew it was bound to be a winner!

With a pulse-pounding pace, this book takes you on an unforgettable journey that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The suspense and tension were so palpable that I was wildly flipping pages. If you’re looking for a thrilling read filled with shocking revelations, this is definitely the book for you! As a new-to-me author, I look forward to reading his backlist. This is a MUST-READ for any thriller lover!

Tell Me What You Did
by Carter Wilson
Pub Date: Jan 28 2025

Talk about a page turner, all nighter read! Tell Me What You Did was a book I could not put down until the final page. It was a creepy thriller that made me never want to listen to a true crime podcast. This is a long read but well worth it!

Synopsis: Poe Webb, host of a popular true crime podcast, invites people to anonymously confess crimes they've committed to her audience. She can't guarantee the police won't come after her "guests," but her show grants simultaneous anonymity and instant fame—a potent combination that's proven difficult to resist. After an episode recording, Poe usually erases both criminal and crime from her mind.! This thriller was mostly told in part through the podcast itself. But when a strange and oddly familiar man appears on her show, Poe is forced to take a second look. Not only because he claims to be her mother's murderer from years ago, but because Poe knows something no one else does. Her mother's murderer is dead. Poe killed him.

Thank you to #tellmewhatyoudid #NetGalley and #PoisonedPenPress for providing me with an E-ARC of this 5 star thriller!

Carter Wilson delivers a thriller that grabs you from page one and doesn’t let go. Tell Me What You Did is a labyrinth of secrets, guilt, and unexpected revelations, all wrapped in Poe Webb’s compelling voice. The true-crime podcast backdrop is both timely and fascinating, adding layers of tension as Poe’s past collides with her present. With twists that feel as inevitable as they are shocking, Wilson explores the blurred lines between justice and vengeance. This book is impossible to put down and stays with you long after the final confession.

Poe is a host of a true crime podcast, and invites people to confess crimes they committed to the audience. A man comes on her show to say he killed her mother. But that can’t be right. Because Poe killed her mother’s murderer years ago.
This was a scary book, filled with revenge!

As someone who considers Criminal Minds a comfort show, Tell Me What You Did is a book after my own heart, so much so that I berated myself for putting off reading it so many times. Although I initially found the interview-style structure jarring, I soon realized it was only for the true-crime podcast parts and not for the entirety of the book. When that realization settled in my bones, I dived and devoured the book like my life depended on it.

I loved Poe’s strength, and though morally gray, I rooted for her. Admittedly, though, it was Hindley that got me. Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t like him. I can even go as far as to say that I loathed his character. But his chilling weirdness fascinated me. His tapestry story stuck with me and raised goosebumps on my skin. I enjoy delving into the inner workings of the mind of a depraved character, and that is exactly what Hindley is.

It goes without saying that I reveled in Tell Me What You Did’s twists and turns. I found it gripping until the very last page. It is definitely a book worth reading for those who love psychological thrillers.

This book had such promise. I was sucked in by the blurb, but in fact the story was a little slow, and there were little inconsistencies which bugged me a lot. They weren't vital to the plot line, but still annoying.

And then there was Poe... Likeable one minute, and then completely off her rocker the next, then just reckless. I couldn't get a handle on which was her true self. Maybe she didn't even know.

I'd guess what was happening before the end, which is fine, but then the end was a little disappointing.

Not my favorite book, but some who like suspense/horror will enjoy it.

Tell Me What You Did is new podcast fiction from Carter Wilson.

"Poe Webb hosts a true-crime podcast. She invites people to call in and confess their crimes. A familiar face calls in and confesses to killing Poe's mother. But Poe knows something about her mother's murderer.
She killed him."

Wilson keeps the tension high in this one. All through the podcast narrative you're wondering what direction the story is headed. I guessed but was only close to one part. The bad guy is terrifying and willing to do whatever to make his point. Crazy, wild ending that adds some unexpected decisions. Alice from Mister Tender's Girl makes an appearance and teams up a bit with Poe. Hope to see that mashup again in future books.
Poe is a morally gray character, but your pulling for her.

Great story from Wilson.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me this arc! I loved the concept of this book and how it was executed so that it drew you in. I was not expecting the ending and thought it would end differently to how it did. I don't normally enjoy mystery-thriller books, but when I do read one I normally stick to Freida McFadden as its an author I know I love. I would definitelty read more of this author's books when I am in a thriller mood again, but I would recommend this book to people who like and love mystery-thriller books!!

Poe Webb's podcast is made up of confessions. She gives her guest fifteen minutes to talk, then questions them about what they've just revealed. Whatever the police or her listeners will do with those revelations is out of her hands. The format has made her famous -- but now she's got a man on the other end of her internet connection claiming to have impossible information about her mother's murder. The first confession in the book had me on the edge of my seat. After that, it took a little while for me to figure out the format, but once I did I was hooked and the book held my attention until the last few chapters. I'd recommend this one if you're intrigued by the world of true crime podcasts.

I love a good podcast thriller. This thriller is very suspenseful, and the way it was written made it feel like a pretty fast read. I really liked how the author wrote these characters. The scene setting was perfect. The wrap up of this book was also perfect, we learned everything about all of the characters and it all came back full circle. Additionally, I liked the fact that a character from another one of the authors books was included. Highly recommend if you like podcast style thrillers. I did not see the twist coming at all.
