I wanted to quickly thank NetGalley & Common Dragon, LLC for allowing me to read this book & give my thoughts!
I thought this book was so cool & enjoyed how the perspective was from another alien race. Iovans are described to be humanoid creatures, and the way that they were described kind of reminded me of colorful Na'vi from Avatar, minus the tail and... hair thingy.
Also, they are much more advanced in technology.
I think the book does a great job of showing real concerns about space exploration and the realistic horrors of exploring other alien planets. Also, the question of someone's character in these unique circumstances.
There is much diversity in the planets explored & the different issues presented on each planet.
The only thing that threw me off a bit was the jumps in time on the spacecraft. Also, there is a lot of information thrown at you at once that you have to take in and understand how it fits into the story.
I saw that there is a second book in the works for this book, and I can't wait to read that! The way things ended in this book... oh boy! I need to know what happens next. Overall, it was a great read!
"Habitat Survivor" by J.P. Mondragon is a fascinating space epic that immerses readers in a rich, vivid universe. Mondragon skillfully explores complex themes such as survival, resilience, and the fragility of trust. His visual and poetic writing brings to life alien worlds and deeply human characters, each facing moral dilemmas and unique challenges. The story’s intensity, combined with constant tension and high stakes, makes for a captivating read that questions the sacrifices needed to save a doomed civilization. A must-read for fans of epic science fiction.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
This book was not my favourite. I’m a big fan of sci-fi, but this was just a lot of info-dumping with not enough actually happening between all of the lore being shoved at you. It was slow and clunky, but I did enjoy the main character.
2/5 stars. Thank you NetGalley for the arc. Honestly I don’t know how to rate this. This book had SO MUCH info dumping. The first 20-25 percent was so much information it was hard to keep everything straight. And sci-fi is one of the worst genres to get confused in. I was also just bored. I found myself just waiting until the book was over. The only thing that kind of saved it was the main character.
