While Nugent doesn’t present anything groundbreaking in her book, this devotional is encouraging and helpful for those striving to live a healthy lifestyle. I enjoyed it.
I just started listening to this arc- and I must say I am enjoying abundantly well. Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for making this book available for me to pick up for my arcs. I need a copy of this book (physically) because all self help books I’ll need to take my notes and read it more than once!
Full review to follow. 5 stars.
The author of this book is a celebrity with a podcast and who also is a Christian. The book is a 40 day devotional. It includes scripture for each day, prayers as week as nutrition, exercise and other health advice. As a nutritionist who is also well-trained in other holistic wellness practices, I thought the advice given by Nugent was generally good. the topics jumped around, however and there was no discernible pattern to what was covered in the book and when. If the reader was not well-versed in these areas, I am not sure how useful the book would be. It would have been better to arrange by topic area. For example, week 1 could be diet, then week 2 about exercise.
I received a complementary copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
I like that this book helps in the motivation area. It works to make you look inside yourself. to figure out what may be preventing you from reaching your goals. I loved all the suggestions that it offered. However, where I think it fell a little short were the receipes. There just weren't enough of them and they were pretty generic. While this isn't a "diet" book, it would have ben helpful to have several more recipes so that you could start your journey on the right foot and find receipes that are like those or similar to those in the book.
This is a devotional book: not a how-to book. If you understand that then you'll get more out of it than me. That's not to say there arn;t exercises or recipes included because there are both. But each day doesn't give you a true task. It's more introspective and communicative with God. This is great for Christians would like a living well devotional.
There is some good information but also some that isn't. That's the whole problem with most wellness books; no one agrees.
I don't really struggle with weight...would like to lose that last five pounds of baby weight...but not overweight. This book had a lot of good information, some charts, along with personal stories and scripture. It would really be a good book for those struggling to lose weight and keep it off.
Informative book.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
I love self=help books, especially those that help you live a healthier life, and Abundantly Well filled that need for me. I also love when scripture, prayer, and other Biblical elements are included. (It goes a lot deeper than just dieting, folks!) I would recommend this book to everyone.
I enjoy reading books about living a healthy life, so I was thrilled with the opportunity to read Abundantly Well by Shermane Nugent. Before reading this book, I was unaware that the author is the wife of the famous musician Ted Nugent, nor was I aware of her celebrity status from being on the show MTV Cribs. Apparently, she is also an internationally known Zumba instructor. All of this was revealed to me in her book, as well as her story of having experienced severe health issue due to mold exposure in her home.
I loved the 40 day approach of this book, the bible scriptures at the beginning of each chapter, and the prayer at the end of each chapter. The focus of each chapter was clear and provided steps to living a healthy life. Although I loved the premise of the book, I found most of it common knowledge about how to live a healthy life.
If you are a fan of the author, Shermane Nugent, you will probably love this book because she shares many personal stories and how she rose above her struggles.
I do enjoy a celebrity lifestyle book, and this fits the bill. This one effectively incorporates Christian values, perspectives, and scripture with contemporary wellness perspectives on physical health, fitness, nutrition, environmental health, and mental health. Even-handed and accessible without being preachy (which both wellness and Christian books can do sometimes). Shemane leads the reader through a comprehensive wellness journey a step at a time providing information and prompts for personal reflection without overwhelming the reader. She encourages you to start where you're at and take it a step at a time, setting goals to improve your quality of life. I liked that there are also journaling and goal tracking pages as an added resource. It makes the book more interactive and supportive on your wellness journey. Her personal experiences are woven into each section and she makes her life relatable despite being "rich and famous." I'm not sure if I am the target audience for this book, but I enjoyed the faith perspective interwoven throughout. 3.5 ⭐ rounded up bc its a decent book with useful content, but probably not one I'll personally use. Definitely will resonate with its intended audience.

This book was absolutely phenomenal. I was so engulfed by this book from the very beginning! I absolutely loved it. Well done!!
Good book for people without health issues trying to live healthier using Biblical themes for behavioral modifications. Those with medical issues that cause metabolic problems need to look else where for help. As always consult a doctor before trying a weigh loss or exercise program if you have health issues.
