I liked the premise of the book but found it difficult to get into. It very complicated with lots of twists but I found it hard to emphasise with any of the characters. While it’s not for me, it might interest those who love a twisty psychological thriller.

I found parts of the book really intriguing and well written but some parts just felt that they went on into either to much detail or did not really feel like they fit the story. Overall an okay mystery book.

This book was a 2.5 that I generously rounded up to a 3. It really wasn't that good at all. So much back and forth, and it's really hard to keep things straight in the story. And the end throws in a paranormal element, when the book had not been that way at all. This book was just not for me.

This was not one of my favorites to be honest. The author’s writing style was very confusing. It was difficult for me to complete this book. I was very confused while reading and I am still confused after finishing!

The premise of this book sounded interesting but I found it confusing & the style of writing didn't gel with me. I couldn't seem to make a connection with any of the characters & my rule of thumb is, if you get to 20% & couldn't care less what happens to anyone it's time to move on. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

2.5 rounded up.
This is a thriller with supernatural elements, multiple perspectives on then and now timelines is how the story is told to us. I don’t think the writing was for me, the characters seemed to drift off a lot and I found myself having to reread paragraphs multiple times per chapter which is unusual for me and I found frustrating.

The story has a now and then timeline with multiple characters perspectives, namely trying to discover the murderer of Theresa from 15 years prior.

Many thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.

It’s not often that I finish a book scratching my head, puzzled as to what the ending of the book was - but this book definitely, and rather unfortunately, left me puzzled. As I closed the book, I honestly cannot say “who” the killer was/is, or, who is supposed to be the “bad guy”, although I suppose each character can be one depending on your opinion and perhaps that is what the author was going for.

Although I am not a fan of the ending, I did love the plot - most of the time. I love when a book excels at dual timelines and differing points of views to tell each chapter, and this book absolutely did that. I loved reading from the perspectives of Jill, Caitlin, and Livy. The character development was solid.

I love deep, dark psychological thrillers and this most certainly was that, I just wish the author did a better job at tying everything together and painting a better picture for the reader. There were random inserts of “paranormal” activity which I felt was irrelevant to the actual story line - the only thing obvious is that all three main characters (Jill, Livy, and Caitlin) all suffered from trauma and mental health issues. So the paranormal inserts were rather unnecessary and misleading.

All in all, still enjoyed the book.

Looking for something dark and moody? You've found the right read.

The start of The Therapists Daughter grabbed me and made me want to know how Livy could kill her mother and what the hell happened with that Ouji board. While I am not typically big into the supernatural style genre, I felt it was done very well in this thriller, making you wonder if you are reading things correctly and questioning what's going on.

The downside is that for me, the book didn't keep me turning page after page to get to the ending like I hoped; it fell a bit flat for me.

Overall, 3 star book.

“The Therapist's Daughter” is Megan Taylor's most recent thriller. While this isn't the author's debut novel, it is my first time delving into her work. Despite the promising potential and the fast-paced narrative, I found the plot twists too predictable for my personal preferences.

On a positive note, the characters were well-crafted and multifaceted, and utilising dual timelines allowed for a deeper exploration of the story.

Despite being rated a three-star read, I have not been deterred from considering this author's future works.

Whilst i liked the premise of this book, it was so slow and I found it really hard to continue on with it. Characters were overly complicated and it just wasn't for me unfortunately!

A good premise but not well executed. I tried to get into it but nope. The story really dragged on and the writing style was quite bad. I was unable to finish it.

Thank you Bloodhound Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The therapist daughter by Megan Taylor.
This was a good read with likeable characters. I did like the cover and blurb. I sort of liked the characters but then I didn't like them. Twisty and gripping. I definitely didn't expect that. My draw dropped. It may have been a slow start but it certainly picked up.

I really liked the idea of this book and the fact that they were a few different perspectives to the story which was interesting. Didnt always feel the flow of the book and sometimes found it a little to gossipy. Thank you for advancec copy.

The Therapists Daughter by Megan Taylor ⭐⭐

The story started out strong but dragged on. It was told in multiple POV and timelines and I found myself confused/bored. The writing style was not for me.

Thank you for the ARC NetGalley and Megan Taylor

The beauty of this book lies in the complex links between characters and the different points of view give readers insight into these. I found the book dark and creepy at times but above all this is a psychological thriller which relies on the darkness of people as its core mystery. A very interesting premise which I also found to be well executed.
