As someone who was diagnosed last year in their early 30s this is a really insightful and helpful book thank you
This book was 3 pages long, consisting of the cover, one chart, and a smiley face with an exclamation point....where's the book?
As someone diagnosed with ADHD later in life, I was eager to read this book, hoping for insights and understanding. While it’s clear the author aimed to keep the text concise, which can be helpful for readers with ADHD, the book ultimately lacked the depth needed to explore such a complex topic. The balance between brevity and thoroughness was not quite achieved, leaving me wanting more development and substance. Though it touches on important aspects of ADHD, it didn’t delve deep enough to provide a truly impactful or informative read.
This book will be helpful to anyone who has received a diagnosis later in life and has never done any previous research into the diagnosis. If the world of ADHD is completely new to you, then this book could be a helpful guide to how navigate the new experience and some inspiration to help you combat any despair you may be experiencing. If however, you have done some research on ADHD then this book is probably not for you. This book reads as a to-do list with brief explanations and does not delve into details. I have done some research into living with an ADHD diagnosis and this book often left me thinking "Thats great, but how do I actually do that?!" Telling me to build resilience and to not worry about other people's opinions when unmasking is not as helpful as it could be if it including an explanation of HOW to build resilience and HOW to not worry about other people's opinions.
I enjoyed reading this book and found it to be quite informative. It was well written and clear to understand. It had some interesting ideas and suggestions in which I will be trying. Recommend
I really struggled (ironically) to focus and stay engaged with this book. The author’s suggestions seemed to mostly be things that felt very obvious to me, and I wish that there had been more suggestions for how to effectively manage the symptoms discussed in the book. Also, the links for the self assessments were not functional and no URL was provided to copy and paste instead.
LATE ADHD Diagnosis is an empowering guide for adults recently diagnosed with ADHD, transforming what can feel like a setback into a powerful new beginning. The book provides practical strategies to manage symptoms, overcome shame, and embrace one's authentic self. I especially enjoyed the way it offers actionable steps to move from feeling overwhelmed to achieving self-acceptance. It’s a refreshing read that turned my own challenges into a journey of growth.
🎉 Feeling overwhelmed by a late ADHD diagnosis? Dive into LATE ADHD Diagnosis and discover how to turn that diagnosis into a major win! This book is like a life coach in your pocket—helping you ditch the shame and embrace your true, awesome self. It's packed with practical tips and a ton of encouragement. I couldn't put it down and left feeling totally empowered! 🚀
I really like that this book focuses on getting diagnosed with ADHD later in life, because I feel like a lot of us are in this same boat, and have been living with ADHD for so long with no resources and help and need a book like this to help guide us. There is a lot of useful tips, tricks, and guidance within this book, along with very helpful exercises. The information is presented in such an easy to digest manner and you know you can trust what's being told to you. I feel less overwhelmed because of this book, and I'm so grateful for it!
This is a wonderful resource for those who are embarking on their journey of understanding ADHD. The author’s engaging authenticity stood out for me. It was nice to be reminded of some useful exercises. 3/5 for me, 4.5/5 for those are on the lookout for making sense of life with ADHD.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an early e-copy of the book. As a recently diagnosed adult ADHDer I found this book quite useful for tips and tricks on how to live with ADHD and understand why I am the way I am! I would definitely go back and check in with it every so often to check where I am / what support I’d need from it periodically!
I was just recently diagnosed as having ADHD in my late 20s, this book has helped me so much in coming to terms with and figuring things out, it is a fantastic tool to use and while I still have lots of things to learn, this was a great start and made things feel less overwhelming
Can I be honest here? I mostly focused on the summaries and suggested actions at the end of each chapter, as well as the exercises to discover yourself and work towards your goal.
And guess what? I got a lot of inspiration and encouragement from it! That's how I know that this book was made with ADHDers in mind.
It's got everything you might want as someone who's recently received an ADHD diagnosis -- a bunch of useful, well-structured information to help you find out what the diagnosis means for you, and how to adjust your life so that it suits you. Plus, it's easy to get through and get the gist of it.
There are also resources for people who haven't pursued a diagnosis yet, but might want to.
All in all, and even though I haven't read the whole book, I am giving it 5* because it was clear, informative and helpful, which is what I was looking for. Thank you so much for the ARC!
