A young man is being chased by demons and he does not know why, or why his family was killed by them when he was younger. He catches the attention of some excerpts, who now want to protect him, but things are a lot more complicated than they thought. This book has some high emotions and some violent scenes.

The outfits continue to be as sexy as ever, the plot is moving forward in big ways, and Ezra and Sunny are FINALLY inching towards romance. A great sequel and I really enjoyed it!!! I’ll definitely be reading Volume 3!

I will never not love this series. I have already read the full two seasons available on the webtoon app but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the volumes. I plan to keep all physical volumes in my possession.
The concept of this story is interesting and volume two starts to weave in more characters and complexities. Sometimes the story is confusing, sometimes the characters are annoying and sometimes the artwork is off. However the plot moves forward, it doesn’t stop. Confusing parts start to make sense, annoying characters become loved, and the imperfect artwork makes it comedic.
In volume two, we start with a continuation of the fight with Ezra, Sunny and a demon, followed by the disclosure of Sunny’s past and present. All of this is entangled with the Great Church and the unnamed demons chasing Sunny. This volume covers a lot, mostly information which is critical in the world building and establishing the characters. And that’s not all, we also get Sunny’s background as well as hints into the background of other characters.
I enjoy how this story is fast paced. It doesn’t dwell too long on drama and romance currently isn’t the highlight. There is communication between the characters, although not always clear but it gets the message across. That’s not to say, emotions are irrelevant. Through Sunny and Ezra we see regret, sadness, anger, loneliness, comfort and many more emotions alongside the depiction of panic attacks, trauma and violence.
The artwork is absolutely stunning and I love how it primarily uses a few colors (including black) to depict this story. It has my respect because it’s very difficult to portray a story and the emotions with a limited color palette. That said, similar to volume one, the action is a little underwhelming and there are imperfections in the artwork. Also, some of the panel layouts don’t help portray the intensity well. Though it doesn’t bother me and I love the story regardless.
As we near the end of volume two, the plot thickens and becomes more dramatic. Ezra will soon have to make a clear choice, one that he struggles with in this volume. It’ll be interesting to see how that affects his relationships and the story going forward.
Overall, I highly recommend this story. The romance isn’t prevalent but the characters are still learning to trust and lean on each other. There is a diverse cast of characters, each of which is strong and badass. The character designs are gorgeous and the details in their tattoos are pure perfection. I’m definitely looking forward to my physical copy of this book and the next volume!

I was thrilled to get my hands on the advance copy from Netgalley. All my opinions remain my own.
Covenant by LySandra Vuong is easily shaping up to being one of my favourite series' this year. I'm loving the fun twist on religion, with Priests that call on angels to help them fight demons on earth.
The art is stunning as always, with Vuong having such a great grasp on proportion and character design.
Speaking of characters, I'm loving Samson and their aggressive attitude that softens towards those they love. I would like to learn more about Samson because they're one of my favourites!
The plot was good, although I found it got soft in this one compared to the first. The start of the book was following on from a cliffhanger fight from the first book, and then the middle was just everyone trying to figure things out and complaining. But the flashes to the demon lord (not going to name to avoid spoilers) were the best thing in the book. It made them more mysterious and really pushed the plot forward and made the reader wonder what they meant by certain things (especially at the end of the book).
Overall, this is a wonderfully drawn and written series. I'll support the author when it's out in physical form to match my first book on my shelves!

Thank you Netgalley and Oni Press for the readers' copy.
I know hot, queer, fighter priests sounds niche but I love this for everyone ♥
The characters, art style, pacing, dialogue are perfect. Literally no notes.
Such a fun continuation from book 1 and again leaves you wanting more.
Bring on book 3 *makes grabby hands*

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this story.

MORE BACKSTORY!!!! This is what I felt like was missing from Vol 1. There was so much background knowledge in this volume that I wish I'd had sooner because it just made it that much more enjoyable. I still adore the characters regardless though and I was really happy I was granted access to volume 2 after I read volume 1 on here as well. I love the designs of the demons and the priests outfits to death and I'm excited to see what comes next. I'm really glad we got to see more of Father Aaron too because he is SO FINE.

5 stars
I'm obsessed with this art style.
The story is entertaining and so amazing.
Can't wait for volume 3!

I NEED ANSWERS!!
Seriously, how are they going to leave me like this, with more questions than answers. I liked this volume more than the first one especially the confrontation and it was really THE confrontation. I look forward to reading what else happens next ahhh.

Another banger. The art style always blows me away, it’s stunning. Just looking at it by itself outside of the story is super appealing on its own but bonus that the story is also incredibly fun to read.
I’m even more invested in both the plot and the characters themselves. The more we learn about Sunny the more interested I get. This was action packed and so fun.
I would highly recommend this series.

Super enjoyable second installment! I can’t wait for further volumes! The diverse cast in both ethnicity and queerness paired with demons and a BEAUTIFUL art style makes for an epic story.
This second volume is just a tad weaker than the first. A bit of a lull while characters are further fleshed out. I find myself not really enjoying Sunny’s character. He’s reasonably whiny but tends to repeat the same things over and over again without growth. Ezra’s internal conflict on the other hand is super engaging. I can’t wait for volume three!

I loved everything about this graphic novel! What a cliffhanger to leave it on. I will be impatiently waiting on the edge of my seat until Vol 3 comes out.

there’s something about hot priests with tattoos and deadly weapons fighting demons that I’m very much into
I love the world building and queer representation throughout, it’s just so casual and natural. it’s not the only part of the story, it isn’t made to be the centre of it all but it’s just there as references for the community which I’m obsessed with
I really enjoyed the progression from volume one and I’m so intrigued to see how it will continue, just fun and fresh

I loved the continuation of the story from the first volume. It was nice that it picked up right where volume 1 left off. The way the story picked up speed with every page turned was fantastic! It made it very difficult to put down, and when I did, I did so begrudgingly. I cannot wait for the next volume of this to come out! It quickly became one of my favorite series that I have read in recent memory! Just incredible story telling!

Just as good as the first!
Again, the way I would pitch this is: if Kenji and Warner were sexy demon hunting priests with machine guns but make it queer and this concept works so well!
I really enjoy this series and this is a great continuation! The worldbuilding is interesting and the characters are still really likable, we also get a little more on their backstory. It is fun and engaging and I love the humor

3.5/5 stars
Covenant, Vol. 2 is a graphic novel that collects episodes 19-26 of LySandra Vuong’s webtoon about hot priest-exorcists fighting demons. Even though Ezra is still struggling with his faith, he must still fulfill the task the angel Gabriel assigned to him—protect Sunny. Sunny is still a demon magnet and must learn to trust the Church of Providence if he wants to get some answers as to why demons are hunting him. But Sunny is recalcitrant to the type of protection he is getting, and Ezra’s team is increasing growing suspicious of him.
Again, the art style is crisp and beautiful with clear and consistent style. I have noticed though that the backgrounds are usually quite empty, and while this does draw focus on the characters, it does make the world seem more empty than it should be. It also feels like all the characters are drawn very masculine (I assume intentionally) so I do often get confused by the genders, especially for newly introduced ones.
This installment is mostly more of the same—tons of hot priest-exorcists fighting demons. It finally provides more of Sunny’s backstory while still leaving why is being hunted a huge mystery. However, the promised queer romance between Ezra and Sunny still remains unfulfilled, and there is still really not much character development nor meaningful interactions. I am wanting for more actual forward movement of the story, but if the first volume felt like mostly introduction, this felt like a stretched out first act.
Covenant, Vol. 2 offers more of the same and would benefit from more progression narratively.
*Thank you Oni Press for the eARC via NetGalley

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an e-copy of this graphic novel!
This volume has just as much action as the first, but now, the plot is really starting to get rolling. We still don't know a lot about the characters, but Sunny gets a bit of a backstory to help flesh him out a bit. While Ezra gets some scenes that help us to better understand his motivations and what not. I enjoyed this installment more than the first and look forward to reading volume 3.

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Ezra and Sunny's adventure continues and so does the tension between them. Between trying to figure out why demons are hunting Sunny and what demon sent them I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two especially when they hit the club. Ezra is facing an inner struggle between the task given by Gabriel and what the priests have trained him. He must make a decision as a little more of the story was unravelling and it only leaves you wanting more. This is a wonderful series with amazing graphics. And just like the last one, I can't wait to find out more in the next volume.
Ezra, an exorcist struggling with his own faith in God, has been tasked by the Archangel Gabriel to protect Sunny—but that might be easier said than done.
As Ezra and the rest of those on his team find themselves facing increasingly violent—and increasingly powerful—forces, the mystery of why these demons want to capture Sunny continues to unfold, and Ezra finds himself drawn to his surly classmate-turned-charge. With their friendship growing and danger mounting, can Ezra’s faith withstand the onslaught? And more importantly—will Sunny survive it?

Covenant volume 2 did a great job continuing the story, both answering some questions but asking more along the way. Ezra is still struggling with his faith, thus limiting his powers and ability to protect Sunny. Sunny is struggling to make peace being kept in Ezra's protection. Both men come head to head with demons and must choose who's worth saving. Vuong's art is stunning and dynamic as always, and I look forward to continuing with this series.

What a joy to be able to read the continuation of Covenant. I had loved the first one and this second one does nothing but make me want to know more and more.
We find more depth in the characters, we can see the way they think and act, we manage to empathize with them, or at least understand them. I think it has a very engaging story, which makes you want to read more and more and it is a shame that we have to wait to find out what happens. I would love for everything to be published already.
I feel like there are still a lot of things to learn and discover, both about the plot in general and the characters!
Thank you very much Oni Press for the ARC I read on NetGalley.

Ever since reading the first volume of COVENANT earlier this year, I have been so excited to see it continue with volume 2 (and now I’m back at being excited for volume 3, it’s a cycle). It was super fun to dig deeper into the story and figure out just why exactly all this terrible stuff is happening near the Church of Providence, and I think that’s what this volume did, for the most part. We get a good amount of plot development and Sunny’s backstory, and maybe less character and relationship development than we did in the first volume. In essence, I wanted it to be gayer, faster, but I might just be impatient (there is a gay bar scene, but maybe demons happen, so take that as you will). I can’t say I enjoyed this volume quite as much as the first, but I’m definitely still just as invested in the series and the story, it just depends what your favourite part of the story is.
The entire world and lore that exists within this series is so interesting to me, and I love the way it takes on faith and religion with demons in a way that feels uncommon, but deeply compelling. The mystery also ramps up a lot with this volume, and I’m very curious to see what will happen. That said, I am hoping for a little more relationship development in the next volume, but I am so looking forward to the next volume already and I highly recommend jumping into the series if you haven’t already!
