Okay this was fun! I love the rock climbing sports aspect, I’m familiar with rock climbing so this was really what drew me in. It was a slow burn romance, but was okay because we got to learn the characters and watch them work through their lives. The mental health aspect were probably the best part of this book. It was done really well.

Personally I wasn’t expecting to love this like I did! Both characters were amazing in their own ways and are so unlike each other that you wouldn’t expect them to work but they do! The mental health rep is *chefs kiss* and so much funny moments you can’t help but laugh out loud at.

I am always interested in a good sports romance but this is my first rock climbing one! I liked this story's take on the risk of loving someone: there's always a chance of heartbreak but in this case it's ever present danger of being separated forever. I was happy to go along with Tania as she explored whether this was a chance she was willing to take in order to experience life alongside Nolan. The climbing terms used for times other than climbing felt a bit awkward but I liked them when in context. Overall a good romcom especially for those interested in adventure sports or those that do them.

Love on the Rocks offers a refreshing take on romance with a protagonist who is open about her struggles with anxiety. Tania's honest depiction of her anxious thoughts adds a layer of depth and relatability, making her journey both engaging and empathetic. The book's wit and humor infuse it with charm, and the detailed explanations of climbing techniques are a fun nod to climbers or those interested in the sport,

As a Central Valley native, I appreciated the book’s affectionate nods to the Bay Area and the Valley, which added a layer of personal connection. However, the integration of climbing references into intimate scenes felt forced at times. While the climbing theme is central to the story, these moments might have benefited from a more subtle approach.

Noah Wells’s character brings a certain allure to the narrative. His dialogue, particularly in bed, is captivating and adds an interesting dynamic. However, the book leaves readers craving more insight into Tania & Noah's evolving relationship over the weeks. While both characters are well-developed, additional chapters exploring their bond in greater depth would have really engrossed me more.

Overall, Love on the Rocks is a witty and heartfelt exploration of relationships and personal growth, with a unique climbing backdrop. Despite a few hiccups, its charm and relatable characters make it a worthwhile read. Thank you NetGalley and Alyssa Jarrett for the chance to read this E-Arc!

Tania is a VP of marketing at a tech firm in the Bay Area. Her firm takes a retreat down to Yosemite, where Nolan literally stops her in her tracks..... so she doesn't fall off of a cliff.

Tania leaves the retreat and heads back to the Bay, thinking she'll never see him again. Nolan turns up as the keynote speaker, but the only eye contact he has is for her.

Tania takes a sabbatical from work to see if things can work with Nolan. And truly find what she wants in life.

Overall, the story was a slow, slow burn. There's tension, and I think we get to know the characters well. My deductions are for the climbing lingo outside of climbing and for some tropes that aren't for me.

Thank you, netgalley and geek chic press, for the opportunity to read this eARC early in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really wanted to love this book but I am sorry to say this just wasn't for me.

I couldn't connect with the main character at all, or with the pacing with the story.

Thank you so much for the advance copy, I truly hoped I would have loved this book.

I would give this book 3stars out of 5. I loved the cover, that is what drew me in and made me want to read it. The title is also a great one and attracts the reader in in my opinion.
I really liked the idea of the forced proximity, boy helps girl out and then they fall in love. Unfortunately I did feel that the book was a bit slow to start of with and could have done with more spice and a faster pace. It felt like the first few chapters were dragging on a bit. But then on another hand I felt that the relationship seemed to grow too quickly to be realistic and it felt a bit unreal.
I did enjoy the characters and really pictured them and their interactions. I would recommend this book although I am leaving it 3 stars as I can compare this to other well known books that people have been known to enjoy.

I read this book quickly, found it easy to read and understand. It’s enjoyable and the whole rock climbing idea is different in the romance genre as it’s usually more office based which drives me crazy.

this book was good, just very very slow. the first few chapters of meeting Nolan took up a fourth of the entire book, and I still felt like I didn’t know the characters very well at that point.

This was such a good book. I really enjoyed it. More than I thought I would. I loved the writing style. This book had me hooked from page one. This is a first for me by this author but will not be my last!!

Tania is a techie with major anxiety and happens upon Nolan in a storm on a winter work retreat in Yosemite. They have a bit of an insta connection after a odd meet. Tania is all luxury and comfort while Nolan is simplistic and an adrenaline junkie. This is all told in Tania's POV. Throughout you get to also see Tania's anxious thoughts who she calls Hammy as she's trying to navigate through her life.

I was a little confused at first by the exerpts at the end of each chapter. But once I started getting a feel for Nolan, I realized they were posts and blogs from the rock climbing community along with some of Tania's texts and Google searches. The text and Google exerpts and some of the blog posts I understood but some, like the sisters blog post felt a little irrelevant to me.

While some of those things didn't add to the story for me, Tania's rampant thoughts really resonated. The fact that your mind is basically pitted against you sometimes to the point of paralysis or self destruction felt so accurate. Every little nuance from a persons expression can make your thoughts go wild even when you don't want them to. I felt the anxiety and some of the pain of dealing with it as I read. Tania came a long way throughout the story. Although she's a fictional character I was so proud of her growth. It made me reflect a bit on my own life.

Her relationship with Nolan was so cute. He was such a sweetheart and so clueless sometimes it was adorable. But Nolan was not perfect. He was very much one track minded but he tried too. Out of all the side characters in her story Tania's brother was my favorite. I didn't get to see much of him in the story but the small parts that included him made me love him! Shannon also grew on me. The glam fam, as sweet and supportive as they were did get on my nerves.

Even though this is a story of Tania meeting Nolan and romance and such this book for me felt like Tania's personal growth through her mental illness. I also loved that even in the end the anxiety didn't just magically go away it was just managed better because a lot of mental illnesses are unfortunately stuck with us and the representation of that felt enlightening.

An absolutely delightful and fun romance set in Yosemite! Opposites attract with an investigation of what makes one happy and how does a person pursue their goals. Spicy and fun, though there were times I felt that character traits were a tad bit overexaggerated to make a point. Looking forward to more from Jarrett!

I should have known Love on the Rocks wouldn't be for me before the story even began. Let me explain. The "on free soloing" page just after the content notes talks not only about how free soloing is dangerous and not to try it at home (good) but also about how some stuff about it in this story weren't actually possible and made up for the plot (bad). I really dislike when authors take liberties with things as big as what is and isn't physically possible when it comes to a major theme they chose to use in their story. Plus, what this ended up referring to specifically in Love on the Rocks wasn't even really all that necessary to fabricate. In my opinion, a good author can make a story exciting without making stuff up or being inaccurate. This may not matter to other readers, but it does for me.

Despite all of that, I gave it a chance, hoping the story would make the inaccuracies feel irrelevant. On the surface, it a story I normally would really like, so I was disappointed when I ultimately didn't. The relationship between Tania and Nolan develops a bit too quickly—and I don't even mind insta-love all that much if done right. The frequent climbing references, especially during intimate scenes, come across as overkill, and the inclusion of the climbing articles felt kind of out of place and irrelevant. It might be a good choice for those interested in a quick, outdoorsy romance but not so much for anyone looking for anything more than that.

I absolutely adore this story. I could relate so much to Tania and how she processes her feelings. Enter Nolan who helps her out from her anxiety ridden trenches. I loved how they interacted ans it was so fun watching her come out of her shell and experience life and the great outdoors while at it! ;) Such a great message about how certain people can help us bring out our best selves.

After being rescued in a snowstorm by world-renowned climber Nolan Wells, Tania Beecher decides to quit her job and spend 6 weeks with Nolan while trying to figure out her next move.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

I was drawn to the premise of this book and I really enjoyed the emotional vulnerability and openness the characters displayed. Tania’s anxiety was relatable and I loved the open, honest conversations between Tania and Nolan.

However, this book also fell flat for me in several areas:
- I thought their relationship progressed way too quickly. They often mentioned how much chemistry they had, but tbh, I didn’t see it. Even their first meeting didn’t feel like there was anything special between them.
- TOO MANY climbing references! I get that rock climbing plays a big role in this book, but using climbing terms during intimate scenes was super cringey and too much for me. Also the chapters were interspersed with online climbing articles that sometimes didn’t relate to the plot at all and didn’t do much to enhance the plot either.
- This book was marketed as “Free Solo but sexier.” I took that to mean that it was inspired by Free Solo, but several plot points and entire sentences were basically copied and pasted from the documentary.

Overall, I really wanted to like this book because the premise was intriguing and it looked like it was going to be a fun read, but it just wasn’t for me.

Burnt out Techie meets nomadic adrenaline junkie in this Alex Honnold inspired love story. Tania meets Nolan when she’s on a retreat for work in Yosemite, he saves her from almost falling to her death and she has to spend the night in his van. In the morning they part ways both missing the other. Weeks later they run into each other in San Francisco and their rock climbing romance takes off.

I really wanted to love this book. I was so excited for the adventure aspect, especially the rock climbing in Yosemite. I personally love hiking and camping so outdoorsy romances are my favorite. This just fell a little flat for me. It took about half the book to get to the adventure part, and then Tania was just not into it so it made it less fun seeing it through her eyes. But I did think the concept was fun!

Forced proximity, stranded
One bed
Hot climbing instructor
Instant connection
City girl vs Nature

If you like books about city girls learning to exist in nature with hot rugged outdoorsy men this book is for you. This book has some spicy scenes so fair warning.

In this book, we are following Tania who works in the leader of the marketing team of a company (Habituall) that just decided to go on a retreat. Our main character Tania leaves an evening that her team was having and ends up meeting a guy who lives won his van- Nolan Wells, a well-known rock-climber, but Tania does not know that. She will discover that she is in great need of a sabbatical and will take the opportunity to find out more about herself and this Nolan Wells.

I loved this book. It was my first time reading about rock-climbing, so the whole vocabulary and everything was new to me (but it was also new to Tania so I was learning everything alongside her which was nice).

Anxiety is in my opinion very well represented in this book. It’s in the form of someone that Tania named Hammy and u found it confusing at first but then I just saw that it was just something that we do experience. We hear this voice in our head and this voice could have a name. It is a way to show that anxiety is real.

The mixed media in this book was also great. There were texts to her therapist, articles, work messages, and other things.

The chapters were not too long and the book was written at the first person narrative. There was also not really miscommunication which is quite rare in romances.

I would recommend it!

I picked up this book as I was excited to seeing climbing represented! I liked both Tania and Nolan's characters and the differences between them, but I felt their relationship progressed very quickly and I personally prefer more of a slow burn. This was an enjoyable holiday read and I look forward to reading other books by Alyssa Jarrett!

I really loved the themes of this book, because it felt like it was talking directly to me. A book about a 30 something who has climbed the corporate ladder incredibly quickly, partially to impress her parents, and is now in a constant state of wondering whether it’s all worth it? Who has crippling anxiety, which causes imposter syndrome and self sabotage? Who falls in love with the man who spends every day focused around the thing he loves the most because he refused to conform to societal and parental expectations? It’s my story, except with rock climbing instead of trail running.

I also loved the setting. Yosemite is one of those places that will change your life if you let it. So I love seeing others appreciate its grandeur. If you loved You with a View, check out Love on the Rocks.

And I love, love, love a shy, recluse of a MMC, especially when they’re so ripped they make it in the body issue of Sports Illustrated!

Fun little romcom!
