We give books to new moms and new couples and new babies. There are books for birthdays and graduations and other big celebrations, but I don't know that I've seen too many books for divorces. Divorce is just as big of a life change as any of the things I listed! Of course there are probably big, lengthy books with lots of information to unpack on how to navigate a divorce, but it seems like that's the last thing someone would want to do while they're going through that. BUT, this book was what I imagine would be the best warm hug you could receive during a divorce. It was informative, but light. It was funny but also serious and emotional at times. Plus, a good graphic novel for adults is always a must in my mind! And you can't beat Hallie Bateman illustrations and the mom/daughter duo is one of my faves! Will definitely be carrying this in my store!

This work of illustrated nonfiction is a fantastically approachable guide for something that happens to everyone - a relationship ends when you still have feelings for the person. By counting down, day to day, it reminds those reading that things do get better, we do heal, and we can all find a way to pursue happiness without that person in the life we imagine for ourselves.

Beautiful book that mixes self help with illustrations and lovely storytelling. Even those not experiencing a breakup will connect with the stories and lessons to be found in this book.

A cute little book that will make a perfect gift for anyone who's been dumped. Because of the format (counting down the days to feeling ok again post break-up) this book could be read a page a day or all in one sitting. I loved the way the countdown format showed the slow steps toward progress after a devastating breakup. The illustrations are lovely and I think more poignant knowing that the illustrator is the author's daughter!

it was not bad, but not doing much for me either. partly my fault because i read the title and requested it anyway.

this book provodes comprehensive steps, everything you need or should do after a breakup. might be a big help if the reader is currently experience this kind of heartbreak but if not it's just... a collection of texts.

the illustrations are refreshing tho, so it's not too boring to read.

Simply drawn graphic novel that dispenses very practical advice about how to cope with a breakup, as learned by the author whose husband of 30 years walked out on her. There's real wisdom here, as well as great kindness, and much of it applies to other life changing events (such as significant grief). Honestly an excellent resource

Suzy Hopkins has written a delightful, helpful book.
I've been dumped many times.
Although I bounce back quickly, my last breakup took unusually long for me.
This book helped give me additional ideas and encouragement.
The best thing about this book are its illustrations. They're on most pages and they'll make you laugh and smile.

It's a great gift if your friend just got dumped or divorced.

In my job I find myself often talking teens through their first or another break-up so I thought this book might offer me guidance/suggestions on how to support them. I had not realized this book was more directed at adults going through a divorce so I was initially not sure if this would end up being helpful at all. And although there is a lot here about how to handle the stages of divorce there is a lot of advice that also applies to break-ups at any age. While I don't agree with everything here, there is a lot that I do agree with - especially the part about not trying to find reason or logic in something that just might not follow those rules. Having the format be a graphic novel I also feel makes this more accessible to readers and comes across much less like a self-help book and more like a guidebook for navigating the end of a relationship.

I think this is a very validating book for anyone who's been dumped, even long after the fact. It kind of feels like a bolstering hug. Some of the passages are a bit cliche or feel dramatic, but that's how break ups feel so I personally think it works for this sort of book. It's not quite a graphic novel, more like an illustrated picture book for adults, some page's passages are longer than others. Overall it's a quick read and easy to digest. I do think it applies more to people who were in longer term relationships or have a major link to the person dumping them, but the author tries to be inclusive. While this isn't a world-shattering self-help book I think everyone needs to go read ASAP, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a little comfort or a light at the end of the break-up tunnel.
