What a way to wrap up the series! I was so excited for Jasper’s story (there may have been some slightly frantic DMs to Sumner back in autumn of last year asking if he’d get his own love story) and this did not disappoint. A lovely second chance romance with pining and plenty of heat. Great prose as always, can’t wait to see what’s next!

Absolutely loved this book! The Dutchess Society series has been amazing. I liked Jasper Noble from previous books in the series and was looking forward to reading his story. His background was intriguing. CeCe was a great addition to the women of the series. This book was fast paced and well-written. I'm sad for this to be the end of the series. I do hope Jackson Dorsey gets a book.

I received this book from NetGalley and Victory Editing fir an honest review.

Jasper Noble is the most feared man in London, a ruthless scoundrel with a reputation as dark as the rookery alleys he prowls. Yet, his grim façade hides the secrets of a man, haunted by the woman he once loved but lost – Cece. Cece Willoughby married to save her family from ruin, yet her heart remains chained to memories of the man she once adored. Now widowed, she returns to London to find him, only to realises that their attraction is as strong as ever. However, Jasper is uncertain whether he can ever forgive her or whether he should give her another chance.
This second chance romance was very powerful with so much action and subterfuge. Both characters were very entertaining as each played the other like a chess game. This made their romance all the more enjoyable. Both characters had their flaws but in having these, I felt that I enjoyed them even more.
This book I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A sigh for forbidden love!

Ah! My heart breaks for the young Miss Constance (Cece) Willoughby and Crispin Jasper Sinclair, “heir to a ragged barony.” So in love and separated at nineteen.
Cece is forced to marry the elderly, reclusive viscount, Lord Smithton, the Earl of Edgerly. Cecelia will be the Earl’s third countess. Crispin, changing his name to Jasper Noble, becomes an Intelligence Agent for the government. Fifteen years later he is embedded in the rookeries, a Shoreditch hooligan. He’s retired (a mystery here!) He becomes part of the Leighton Cluster. Crispin aka Jasper’s turned legitimate and in business with the group—Xander Macaughley, Tobias Streeter et.al. (Tobias’ wife Hildy owns the Duchess Society, an Investigative Agency, who look into potential groom’s backgrounds for concerned ladies.)
Cece, the widowed Countess of Edgerly, has moved from Northumberland to the Earl’s Mayfair terrace in London, a place she rarely visited in her fifteen years of marriage. Cece has decided to put her plans into place to find Crispin. (There’s many a secret here!)
A novel of second chance romance (definitely), of many surprises, of final happiness, despite the rocks strewn across that road, blocking moves at every turn.
A challenge only persons like Cece and Crispin/Jasper can thrive on.
As a reader I kept anticipating the worst, horrified that things might fall in a heap, yet at other times incredibly optimistic
Another super satisfying episode in Sumner’s Duchess Society series!

Many thanks to the author and publisher.

Tracy Sumner really needs more acknowledgement in the histrom arena, she is such a magnificent, hidden gem. Her stories continue to impress, and Jasper and Cece are no exception. Hidden desires, secret pasts, and of course a kidnapping, Three Sins and a Scoundrel is my favorite of the entire series yet. I am desperately waiting to see what brilliance Tracy concocts next!

4 1/2*STARS*
A doomed love as teenagers, leaves no hope for Cece and Cris. Forced to marry to protect her sister, Cece sends Chris away with a broken heart. Sixteen years later, Cris isn't Chrispin Sinclair, heir to a barony anymore, he's a man with a secretive past and lives under the name Jasper Noble. Friends with the Leighton Cluster, a group of lords that come from various parts of Society. He's envious they are married to their wives in a love match. Jasper is tired of his life of drinking and carousing. He wants a home like his friends, but doesn't know how to get it. Jasper's seduction of the widowed Cece keeps him distracted and unfortunately he keeps messing up. He needs a plan. A little subterfuge never hurt.

Constance Willougħby and Crispin Sinclair were neighbors who fell in love and acted on their deep attraction to each other as teenagers. They were torn apart by her father, an Earl who did not think Crispin, an heir to a minor barony was good enough for Cece. She was married off to an elderly Earl who was not good to her or his tenants. A few years after the Earl died, Cece went looking for Crispin. Who she found was Jasper Noble, a commoner who may have been a spy for the government. Jasper was now a successful businessman with a group of friends known as the Leighton Cluster. The reunion between Cece and Jasper was combustible and though Jasper initially tried to fight the attraction he couldn’t. In order for them to be together, he had to expose who he really was to his friends and Cece had to learn and accept the “new” Jasper was not the same young man she fell in love with. An encore performance for the last installment of the series. I will read this series over again just to experience the characters and their stories.

I told myself I wasn't going to stay up all night and finish this book when after work existed, but who was I kidding? Cece, is a woman that is denied what she wants in life (to be loved by Jasper) and forced in to a marriage she never wanted. Her marriage was as happy as could be as her husband mostly just left her alone. After her morning period ends and the man of her everything doesn't come for her, she goes looking for him. After her first attempt at gaining his attention does not go as she wants she tries a more in your face way by seeking out the societies' help. Jasper, is a man that is in DENIAL from the get go. She was his obsession that he has been trying to let go for 17 years unsuccessfully. This book had some of my favorite things (house party and supportive friend groups)and things I don't like (men who hold a grudge against someone that is considered property and men "love" from a far by sleeping their way through London -.-). Regarding my last thing I don't like, she does actually hold that against him which I freaking loved. AS SHE SHOULD! I am sad that the series is over, I really enjoy this group of couples and their love and friendship they each bestow to one another.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved Jasper and Cece and was happy to see them find their place among the Leighton Cluster. However, I felt the book was a little short on an actual story and spent too much time with them lusting after each other. That was just personal taste.

I received an ARC for free and gave my honest opinion voluntarily.

We finally get the backstory for the suspiciously proper Jasper Noble. We first met Jasper in an earlier book in the series, where it seemed like he was a low-born rookery thug, but has suspicious slips of etiquette, suggesting that he may have a higher class upbringing. We find out here that he is actually Crispin Sinclair, the son of a lowly baron who had his heart broken when his childhood friend and neighbor, Cece, marries a decrepit old earl. Crispin re-invents himself when he’s working as a spy for the crown and becomes Jasper in the process, leaving his old life completely behind. It’s almost twenty years later now, Cece is widowed, and she’s coming to London to get her man back. Except she’s fumbling all over the place and even I’m not sure what it is that she wants. Jasper’s doing his best to protect his heart and feelings and Cece is saying she’s asking for an affair, but she might also be amenable to more. I enjoyed seeing the bickering and flirting and steam between these two, plus all the advice Jasper’s friends are trying to give him. Excellent conclusion to the series.

Highly Recommended Read!

I’m gutted! This has been such a fantastic series from this amazing author, I really didn’t want it to end but as with all great series, there has to be an end in order for a new series to start. Having said that this last book is everything you could want.

I loved the appearance of all the Leighton Cluster and how they interacted with each other and supported Jasper the newest member in his journey to love and his own HEA with Cece.

As with all amazing love stories, their journey has its problems, this second chance at love will totally enthrall you as you live the journey with them and have a little fun along the way.

If I could give it more than a 5* review, I would. Loved It!

Absolutely loved this story filled with Leighton cluster characters.
Crispin has reinvented himself as Jasper Noble after a devastating loss that haunts him.
After many years, Jasper comes face to face with the girl now a woman who broke his heart.
Cece has come to get him but can he free himself of the past and risk all he is again?
The torment is real.
Fun sexy hot scenes.
Have to go back in my library and reread all of the series again because they are that good.

Three Sins and a Scoundrel
The Duchess Society
by Tracy Sumner

Three Sins and a Scoundrel by Tracy Sumner is an engaging historical romance filled with passion, mystery, and second chances. The story follows Jasper Noble, a feared man with a dark past, and Cece Willoughby, a widowed countess who once loved him but left to save her family. When fate reunites them in London, their buried feelings resurface, and they must navigate the dangers of their past and the secrets that still haunt them.
I’ve enjoyed Tracy Sumner's previous books, and this one did not disappoint. The characters are well-developed, and the chemistry between Jasper and Cece is intense. Sumner balances the romance with a good dose of intrigue, making the story exciting from start to finish. The steaminess is well-timed, and the historical setting adds richness to the narrative. Overall, it's a captivating read that fans of historical romance will love.
