Usually good things come in 3
1. Snap crackle and pop
2.The Holy Trinity
3.Primary Colors
4.The stripes on my cool Samba shoes
Unfortunately this follows the saying bad things come in 3.
I usually enjoy the cheeseball Christmas books, especially those written by Christian authors. All three of these fell flat for me. It was shocking how bored I was despite their incredibly short length. None of the characters were built up enough or allowed me to buy into who they were.
The narrorator may have had something to do with part of my dislike....the way over the top Scottish accent was too distracting.
I usually will sing Christmas books from the top of the mountain....but for this one....its just gonna be a Silent Night from me.....
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to review this advanced copy of Mistletoe Season. I was not influenced or paid in exchange for my honest opinion.
I loved that this book had three delightful stories that could appeal to anyone.
The first story in Mistletoe Season was a surprise delight! I loved the friends-to-lovers trope, especially with characters in their 40s, which brought a fresh and mature dynamic to the romance. The vibes throughout were perfect, leaving me smiling from start to finish.
The second story, featuring a royal romance, was equally adorable! This was my personal favorite story. It had the perfect meet-cute and the "love at first sight" element, which gave me all the feels. It’s everything you could ask for in a sweet, fairytale-style love story—a good old-fashioned romance that made my heart melt.
As for the last story, it didn’t quite hit the same note for me. I appreciated that the protagonist was a romance writer, and I typically enjoy the friends-to-lovers theme, but I wasn’t a fan of how she ended up giving up her life in the city for the small-town guy.
Mistletoe Season is packed with cute, heartwarming tales perfect for getting into the holiday spirit!
I received a free copy from NetGalley for my honest review. I love a good Christmas novella that gives me all the warm holiday fuzzies like a Hallmark movie. And these three stories did just that. The romance is quick, with the nature of a novella. The love stories are obvious without being boring. And they all left me ready to put away the pumpkins and pull out the Christmas lights, and mistletoe. My favorite of the three stories was The Mistletoe Prince by Pepper Basham. I love a good “prince comes to a small down” holiday story, and this one did not disappoint. If you’re in the mood for some easy, holiday cheer, definitely give these novellas a read. ♥️🎄
If I could do partial stars, this compilation would get 3.25 stars. The Pepper Basham story was the most enjoyable because even though the story was short, a significant amount of time passed to make a relationship believable and I liked the country meets royalty juxtaposition. That one alone would be a 4 star read for me. The other two stories are 3 star reads and were just too fast for my taste even though both couples had history. The Irish accent of the male lead for the first story was also bizarre and distracting for me. I don’t think it is believable that a person comes to adulthood in America (where none of his family members have accents) and then develops a brogue after 26 years abroad. I know that sounds silly but it was seriously a distraction from the rest of the story.
I did like the narrator and felt like the voicing was different enough across the stories so as not to be confusing.
I received an advanced copy of this audiobook via NetGalley. The thoughts and opinions of this review are my own.
Content Notes: Kisses
A charing collection, featuring three novellas. Perfect for a cozy afternoon with a cup of tea by the fire.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in excahnge for an honest review.
I listened to this book while I was walking my pup. The stories are very good and all were entertaining. I enjoyed the narrating as well.
I recommend
This was a charming audiobook that had three Christmas novellas by three authors I've never read before. I enjoyed all three stories and thought each would make a wonderful Hallmark Christmas movie.
The first novella is Return to Mistletoe by Kathleen Fuller, is a fun brother's best friend/second chance romance story.
The second novella is The Mistletoe Prince by Pepper Basham. This is a great royal/small town romance where our Prince is sent to Ransom North Carolina to get his life in order, as he has been a little out of control.
And our third story is Say No to Mistletoe by Shelia Roberts. this is a lovely unrequited love romance.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins Christian Publishing for the advanced listener copy. Tanya Eby narrates all three stories, and she is a pleasure to listen to. I highly recommend this audiobook, these three stories are sure to put you in the holiday mood.
Return to Mistletoe: such a cute story! A classic, old flame returns for a second chance at love. Very heartwarming and well written. Looking forward to reading the other two novellas apart of this book.
The Mistletoe Prince: I enjoyed this one even more than the last! I love a good "Royal goes to the country to fix their image" trope. The way that the author brought in the true meaning of Christmas and had Bible verses brought up in the characters conversations really sold it for me. For sure gifting this book for Christmas!
Say No to Mistletoe: Another super duper cute story. Romance writer returns to hometown and rekindles with high school crush.
I loved all 3 of the stories in this book, but I think The Mistletoe Prince was my favorite for sure!
This is a delightful holiday treat for readers who adore romance, Christmas magic, and the whimsy of the season, making it a perfect fit for anyone seeking a heartwarming and feel-good collection of stories to get them in the holiday spirit.
First of all, thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this ARC of Mistletoe Season by Sheila Roberts, Kathleen Fuller and Pepper Basham.
I loved this holiday collection of Christmas stories. For m, each sounded like the perfect little Hallmark Christmas story.
I enjoyed each of the three stories and loved the main characters in each of them.
Such a fun little listen and will definitely be looking out for more from each of these authors
I ended up DNFing this book around 25%. It didn't have enough going on to keep me interested and the storyline of missed love and second chances is not something I like.
These are three cute stories! I listened to the audio version but wish I would have read it instead. The narration was good but I had a hard time keeping everyone straight especially in the first two stories.
I did enjoy the stories and would recommend this book. I think this would be great for those who like to read young adult.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my review.
These were such sweet holiday stories! I especially loved the second story that was based in the NC mountains with a prince! These authors did a wonderful job of fixing all the holiday cozy feels!
Three fun short stories from three different authors centered around holiday couples fueled by mistletoe.
First you get Emmy and Kieran. Emmy lives in a town called mistletoe, where she works in an antique shops. She loves all things festive, her daughter and her town. So when Kieran, her childhood crush, returns to Mistletoe for his mother’s birthday, sparks fly between him and Emmy. But his life has been in Ireland for the past years. Will he stay with Emmy or return to Ireland?
Second you get Prince Arran who’s given a reality check and been sent away to work on The Mistletoe Wish, a charity fundraiser to prove he’s suitable for the crown. What he didn’t expect was to meet a women who shows him some Christmas magic and just how deep his own character goes.
Lastly, you get jaded Hailey. Shes a romance writer who’s been burned by all her past mistletoe experiences. Specifically one with her neighbor Carwyn, back in high school that ended up in embarrassment. Now she returns home for the holidays, and possibly will run into Carwyn, but will she continue to say no to mistletoe this time?
These were so fun and light hearted to read. I think Hailey’s story was probably my favorite. The irony of being a romance writer while holding a grudge to her own experiences made for a fun journey. Kinda gave of the grinch vibes with her great growing lol. I also really enjoyed the Irish details with Kieran in the first story. Really gave him character and set the scene for some of his customs.
These 3 Christmas stories are adorable.
They deliver exactly everything that they promise.
My favorite was without a doubt “The Mistletoe Prince” by Pepper Basham.
This is the perfect compilation of stories to read or listen to in a cozy day. They are short, sweet and funny.
You can connect to the characters and see their evolution and growth in this short stories. I had an amazing time listening to this.
The narrator is spectacular and was fundamental do deliver the spirit of the characters.
In this stories there are all the good and amazing tropes, as enemies to friends to lovers, 2nd change, brother best friend. The heroes and swoon worthy.
Overall: I had an amazing time listening to this and would definitely recommend. It’s the perfect combination to get you out of a reading slump and into reading again because it will give you that cozy feeling and will reconnect you again with your reading.
Mistletoe Season is a collection of 3 Christmas short stories by Shelia Roberts, Kathleen Fuller, and Pepper Basham. The romances are clean and the second story talks about faith. The settings are good, and the stories definitely feel like I’m reading a Hallmark holiday romance!
The first story is Return to Mistletoe by Kathleen Fuller. It follows Emmy and Kieran. Kieran is her brother’s best friend and he just moved back from Ireland. This one was pretty cute. 3.5 stars. The chemistry was there and the characters were likable.
A Mistletoe Prince was written by Pepper Basham. A prince goes to a small town in North Carolina and meets, Charlie (Charlotte). It was not the best one. There was no chemistry between the hero and heroine, and Charlie felt a little cliche. 2.5 stars.
Say No to Mistletoe by Sheila Roberts is unrequited love, childhood friends. This one was pretty cute as well. The heroine didn’t want to kiss the man that she always liked under the mistletoe, because any time she kissed a guy under the mistletoe, it wouldn’t work out. There is some development that the heroine goes through. The characters weren’t flat. 3.5 stars.
Tonya Eby did a great job narrating the stories! She does different voices very well! Thank you to Netgalley for an ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an audio copy of this book. This was a cute collection of short stories set around the Christmas time, specifically having something to do with mistletoe. I appreciated the theme with all three stories. It was very mid. Not amazing, but not bad. Very cutesy
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book contains 3 light romance stories by different authors. Each is acceptable for any reader, as kissing is the extent of physical interactions. All takes place during the Christmas season, but the stories and locations are not tied together.
I listened to the audio version of the book. The same narrator read all the stories and she did a great job with accents
1. Return to Mistletoe by Kathleen Fuller
This followed Emmy who was a local in Mistletoe, Missouri. Her best friend's brother Kieran was back in town after living in Ireland for over two decades. She'd had a crush on him when they were were kids and that quickly came back to the surface when they bumped into each other. I loved the simplicity of their reconnection. I also enjoyed how everyone around them tried to get them together. The narrator did a great Irish accent.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
2. A Mistletoe Prince by Pepper Basham
I was so excited when the story began. I loved the Skymar series and this time it was Prince Arran's love story. He came to North Carolina to heal and start afresh. Charlotte Edgewood aka Charlie needed help for the gala. That included practicing her speech and getting the right wardrobe as she was used to carpenter chic attire.
They both needed healing from past hurts and to feel loved enough to be worth staying for. Charlie also felt unworthy of being a princess. I loved how she got the courage to fight for her HEA. The narrator did a great Scottish accent which definitely contributed to enjoying the story. Arran was so charming! I loved every minute of this story.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
3. Say No To Mistletoe by Sheila Roberts
This followed author Hailey Fairchild who wanted to avoid mistletoe at all costs since every kiss turned into a failed relationship. She returned to her hometown to visit her parents during Christmas and bumped into her high school crush Carwyn. He was determined to have a relationship with her and got through her defences eventually. I wasn't into this one but it made for a light read.
⭐⭐⭐
Overall, I enjoyed this novella collection. The narrator was amazing. Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
