I really can't say enough good things about this book.
If you're looking for a closed door romance but still has that deep connection that makes your tummy flip this is your book!
Also, flower shop owner and "it's always been you" vibes... need I say more?
You can see my full review on my vlog.
Thank you Madison for gifting me an ARC! I was not disappointed.
This was such a cute romance, I absolutely swooned! I love a good fake-dating, small town romance, and Only in Your Dreams hit all the marks! The banter was delightful, Finley and Grey were lovable, and the tension was everything. The way Madison writes her romances, full of swoon, banter, and tenderness just tugs at your heartstrings. Also, I love the Fontana Ridge setting and I wish I could just move there and the side characters are so fun!
Things I loved about Only in Your Dreams:
💐 I'm a sucker for "it's always been you" I was shaking crying screaming throwing up
💐 he got a tattoo of her favorite flower 🫠
💐 Grey Sutton MY MAN I love it when the man is down bad
💐 he calls her 'sweetheart' 🥹🥹🥹
💐 gifts as love language

Oh this was a good and beautiful one, I liked Finley and Grey as a couple, was it a fake dating but almost everyone knew it was fake? Yes, but I liked it, although the issue of the ex and Finley's attitudes with him made me feel a little out of touch, the plot was good, plus when the title makes sense everything clicked for me with them and it's the first time that happens to me with a book. Grey was an extremely cute character, he always liked Finley but since she's his best friend's little sister he didn't do anything and he suffered because of it. The evolution of the two both together and individually was beautiful, the romance was a little slow but sure and it was what they needed to be together. There was a little drama almost at the end and I liked how it was resolved. A light read, full of many feelings and a beautiful family and friends.
📌I received an e-arc through netgalley, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.
I had liked Off the Beaten Path a lot, so had a good feeling for this book, but it was honestly even better than the last one.
Finley is so soft and I felt for her from the very first chapter, but then as we saw more of Grey I realised he was just perfect for her. They are both hurt by their past, a little bit broken, hoping for love and to be chosen, just wanting to be someone’s priority. This was just extremely sweet, and I will not get over how much Grey was pinning for Finley all this time (the secret tattoo!!)
*I received an ARC of this book, this is my honest opinion*
This is a truly beautiful story. I loved the vulnerability of both characters and the honesty it takes to hear those vulnerabilities to another person. Some may think this book uses the "miscommunication trope", but I strongly disagree. Miscommunication tropes in my mind stem from a place where a character *think* they know what a person is thinking and feeling and then uses those thoughts to make a decision. That is entirely different from being afraid to open up your soft spots to someone for fear of being hurt.
Finley and Gray have such a fun base friendship from being in each other's lives for so long. Brother's best friend and all that. I haven't read the first book in this series, but I'm sure both characters make appearances and more of their original friendship is shown. The build up is so organic and believable. The struggles they each go through tugged at my heart and I honestly teared up in a few places. I kept preparing myself for spicy scenes, but aside from kissing and being mentionings in the epilogue it was all just sweet, swoony romance. .5🌶️ maximum. 4.75 rounded up
This is my first Madison Wright book and I will absolutely be going back to her backlist and reading those as well.
Thank you Madison and NetGalley for this ARC. Pub date Sept 27 2024. 🩷
Loved this! So many beautiful moments and spectacular quotes. The author’s writing includes stunning descriptions of the cozy small mountain town of Fontana Ridge and Finley and Gray’s swoony romance story. Their history, the longing and the tension was SO GOOD that I could not get enough of it. I couldn’t wait to pick up this book each time I picked it up and only put the book down when I absolutely had to adult. Honestly, reading this makes me want to go back and reread everything else she’s written because her writing is beautiful, swoony, and poignant in so many ways. So many thanks to the author and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this story. All opinions are my own.

I’ve been reading Madison Wright for a while now, and with each book her writing just gets better and better. I thought her previous book was my favorite, but Finley and Gray surpassed it. I was swooning with huge flapping butterflies from start to finish. This was a perfect closed door romance.
Guys, this was my first book by Madison, and OH MY GOD, it’s so perfect!!! I am completely obsessed! The main characters are EVERYTHING they seriously ate so hard! The chemistry between them and the romance?? Ugh, chef's kiss! I was hooked from start to finish, and the story just had the perfect blend of emotions, tension, and swoon-worthy moments. If you haven’t read this yet, you NEED to — I’m begging you, please don’t miss out on this perfection! I love it so much, it’s a 5-star read all the way!
5/5 stars
I absolutely adored being back in the beautiful mountain town Madison Wright has created. I really enjoyed Off the Beaten Path so I was thrilled when I got an arc of Only in Your Dreams.
Gray Sutton and Finley Blankenship are such incredible characters with depth, growth, and so many real aspects to them. This book will make you laugh, cry and feel okay making big dreams and wanting to chase after them! I especially liked the flower shop and bookstore element/scenes and it a dream of all of us bookworms to open a bookstore/coffee shop/floral shop combo. While I loved all the scenes with Gray and Fin, I really really liked when Fin was with her best friend Nora and they were chatting, supporting each other and in my season of life, I often visit friends with babies and I'm that friend that just wants to hangout with my friends and their kids and I love it!
Both Gray and Fin have pasts that they are working through and I'm so glad we got to see the honest and messy parts of that!
Madison is an auto read author for me and I can't wait to see what she writes next!!
Read this book if you like:
-brothers best friend
-he falls first
-fake dating
-found family and amazing small town community
-childhood crush and secret pinning

Oh, how I have been waiting for their book!!! Grey Sutton the man that you are! It was so lovely being back in this world with these characters I've grown to love so much. I read this SO FAST OH MY GOSH. This story was just as beautiful, sweet, and swoon worthy as it was emotional and raw. We all know I love a brother's best friend trope and this one did not disappoint. We love a man who is head over heels for their girl! Finley also loves flowers and reading romance books, me 🤝 her - besties. I loved this one so much and am forever grateful I applied for an arc for Off the Beaten Path. (also really wish there was a poppy emoji rn 😉)
Thank You NetGalley for the arc 💓
I’m in loooooove with this book! I’ve been so excited for Finley and Grey’s story and it did not disapoint! The two of them were so good together, and THE YEARNING!!! Finley and her journey definitely hit home for me in a really personal way, and I loved the way she came into her own. Madison’s writing is so beautiful and sensory and imersive and I didn’t want it to end! I love Fontana Ridge so much and I already can’t wait to reread this beautiful book!
I simply adore Madison Wright's books!!!!
I fell in love with Fontana Ridge, and Finley and Grey, in "Off the Beaten Path" so I was beyond excited to get this ARC! Finely and Grey are so completely gone for each other, their love story is one of my absolute favorites. My heart is with Grey throughout this entire story as he finally gets his chance to love Finley the way he's always longed to. And Finley is my main squeeze! I relate so deeply to her and what she wants from life. I loved seeing her be loved so fully and unconditionally by Grey, not only because Grey has been wanting to forever, but because its the kind of love Finley has longed for and deserved forever. Their overwhelming comfort, joy, humor, and love in each other makes this one of my top favorite books, right in line with "Off the Beaten Path."
I was also enamored with seeing Wren, Holden, and June living their happily ever after!!! The setting, the characters, the story-- all of it was absolutely beautiful, completely captivating, and wholly loving in every possible way.
thank you so much for the arc!!!!
Wahhh I don't even know where to begin with this.
I won't lie, at first I thought this was just going to be heavy on the cheesy cringe side and I rolled my eyes a few times with the amount of overly repeated analogies within the first two chapters...But the more I read on, the more I fell deeply for these characters.
I assumed this was going to be just a silly little fake dating romance where the girl just wants to make her ex jealous or needed to prove she was worthy of love. But, you know what they say about assuming. (Definitely made and ass out of me.)
31 yr old Finley is a hopeless romantic, all her life she's wanted one thing. To settle down and live her small town romance dream with the charming husband, the quaint home with a white picket fence, and the children to fill it with. But those dreams are ripped from her when her boyfriend of two years abruptly ends things one week before her brothers wedding. Heartbroken and lonely she gets absolutely smashed at said wedding, when on the brink of embarrassment her brothers hot fireman best friend Grey swoops in. Ensuring she gets home safe, Finley asks him to stay. And little does she know that Grey is hoping this will be the catalyst to change the dynamic of their relationship forever.
It doesn't. Seven months later and everything has remained the absolute same between them. That is, until Finley's ex waltzes into her flower shop to let her know that he is getting married. And when he makes a comment about her not causing a scene she does the only thing she can think of and says she's fine because she has found someone. In walks Grey, commence the fake dating yada yada yada you know how it goes. Or at least so I thought.
What I was not expecting was the family dynamic between Grey and his parents. This backstory of his character and the chosen family he found not only within Finley's family over the years but with the fire department was one that I really admired coming from a similar dynamic myself. I really felt like the dialogue between our two leads was authentic and admirable. Their exchanges were banter filled and felt natural like they really knew one another for years. The way they continuously were a pillar for each other to achieve their own goals was utterly beautiful. We have a mix of supportive characters that really feel like a village and makes you crave having people like that in your own life. (I would also love to mention that I really appreciated the fact that we completely avoided that overly done trope of "You're not allowed to date my sister". Holden is perfectly aware that his younger sister is a grown ass woman capable of making her own decisions.)
I was incredibly moved after reading the Author's note touching on the topic of her miscarriage amidst writing this book and how she wove details from her own life and loss into it without making it the focus of the story. It explains how so much emotion could be felt throughout the book. As a mama who's also been through those dark times I can only imagine how hard yet healing putting a piece of your heart on paper like this was.
I could go on about how much I simply adored this story but I think you should experience it for yourself! For the lovers of small town romances who aren't looking for heavy spice but more of that romance based off characters connections emotionally this one you won't regret.

I loved Off the Beaten Path so I have been highly anticipating the release of Only in Your Dreams and it did not disappoint! Finley’s boyfriend of 2 years broke up with her because he couldn’t imagine ever getting married, but months later he shows up at her work to tell her that he is engaged. Finley ends up roping her older brother’s best friend Grey into pretending to be her fake boyfriend, but she doesn’t realize that Grey has been secretly in love with her for 15 years.
This was such an adorable small town romance! Grey is a top tier book boyfriend. He is so sweet and attentive, and I loved how he was so supportive of Finley s dreams. This book had me smiling from ear to ear, and I loved every second of it. I highly recommend this series if you love small town romance!

Thank you to Madison Wright and NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book has a lovely premise and I did like the story. But the arc I was given had a dark grey background with black font and so I found it unbelievably hard to read. I’m sure I would’ve enjoyed this book more if I had a different edition where I could easily read the book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I am SOLD on Madison and her writing from here on out. She is definitely on my top FIVE which is hard to come by, but she is so deserving! This book had me laughing out LOUD and also blushing. Also, who doesn’t love a brother’s best friend trope? Fin + Grey were like reading all of my favorite rom com movie’s in one. I ate this up and finished in under 24 hours bc it’s truly that perfect. If you haven’t read her books, you’re missing out!! ✨🤍🥹 I will now be binging the rest of them.
Thank you NetGalley, Madison and Victory Editing for this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review 🫶🏻
4.5 stars!!!
The second book in the "The Mountains are Calling" was just as excellent as the first!
The small town of Fontana Ridge is such a lovely backdrop to some of the sweetest, coziest and most romantic stories.
Only in Your Dreams has some of the best tropes:
- small town romance
- brother's best friend
- banter and bickering as flirting
- he falls first
- "it's always been you", and YEARS of pining in secret
- fake dating
- SECRET TATTOO
The romance was sweet, they had insane chemistry and the tension was delicious!! Grey, my tender and soft-hearted man.. I love you. Such a walking green flag of a man, who is supportive, understanding and honestly damn near perfect! He takes such care with Finley, and even when it pains him, he is by her side, as her friend whenever she needs it.
This book was just packed with emotion and I ate up every word. I loved Finley and Grey so so much!
Just when I thought Madison couldn’t top Wren and Holden, Grey and Finley came sneaking up on me.
Mad’s books perfectly encapsulate the sweet, wholesome, feel-good romance every hopeless romantic dreams of. OIYD is no different, in fact, I feel like she hits a new level.
Grey is so hopelessly gone for Finley from page one (and even before😉), which has you begging for time to speed up for him to tell her, while also having you hoping time slows down just to listen to him gush about her a little more
Finley is sunshine personified, the most perfect example of sweet, small-town charm. The way she loves every person so wholeheartedly, wearing her heart on her sleeve to show she cares, it’s not hard at all to see why Grey fell for her as quickly as he did.
And all the aspects of this book that make it the absolutely perfect romcom that it is… the tattoo?? the rodeo?? the trip to Maine?? the epilogue?? I binged the last 90 pages last night and now I’m so so sad that it’s over. I can’t wait to read it a million times over again.
Thank you Madison and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC
Only in Your Dreams takes the reader to a lovely, small, mountain town where Finley and Gray are dancing around each other but never seeing the opposite in true light. With a little bit of all the best tropes (brother’s best friends, fake dating, he falls first), it’s a joy for the reader to experience their love story. I was so excited to receive this early arc from NetGalley and Madison Wright! Going back to Fontana Ridge was a delight and I truly hope we get more of the townspeople’s stories. Can we also talk about how gorgeous this cover is? Definitely judge a book by its cover on this one because it is just as lovely on the inside as it is on the outside. There is some light swearing and heavy making out involved in the story.
✨ARC REVIEW✨
It's no surprise that I loved this seeing as I really loved Off the Beaten Path. As soon as I saw the opportunity to read this, I ran. Not even realizing this was part of the series, the cover absolutely captivated me and the blurb convinced me further.
I really enjoyed the premise of this book. I am a sucker for brother's best friend and the fact that this is Holden's best friend is even better. Holden in the ultimate grump but knowing he has a friend like Grey just melts my heart.
Finley is a ray of sunshine and I genuinely loved her character. She has such relatable and realistic thoughts and feelings. I found myself relating a lot to her insecurities and general thoughts about certain things. Because she's so raw and vulnerable, she felt more real. I also loved her personality beyond the doubts. She's just an adorable person who has a lot of love to give.
Grey is a charming mush and I just absolutely ate him up. I really think this book could have just been written about all things Grey and I would have devoured it. He's such a kind hearted, sweet soul who just wants to be loved. I really wanted to just hug the crap out of this man the whole time. He was a wonderful character and I really loved him.
I was thoroughly entertained by these two. I absolutely loved watching their friendship turn into that romantic love. They've always loved each other but not like this. This love was beautifully written. They're just so cute and wholesome and you can't help but fall in love with them. Whether they fake dated or not, you knew it was inevitable that they would end up together. They just fit. Their chemistry was fun and adorable. I loved their banter and their digs. They bantered in a flirty way and I really loved it.
I really enjoyed that even though there wasn't a 3rd act breakup, there was still some unsure thoughts and doubts that added to the story. Finley didn't want him to give things up just for her but Grey doesn't want to give her up and it's beautiful.
I had a fun time reading this. I was entertained. I got some good chuckles in and this story felt so cozy and cute. I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THE BOOKSTORE plot. And let's just call it the "book riddles" at the very end. So adorable, so "raising standards for all men out there".
I absolutely loved the poppy flower references and the secret tattoo. It just added to the cuteness to it all.
I definitely recommend reading book one first just because it feels right to do so but regardless, this can very much be read as a standalone. You get appearances by Wren and Holden - not enough to spoil anything but enough to give you a taste of their story.
If you've read anything by Madison, you know how cute her books are. If you haven't...welcome...here's a really cute romance book.
Shoutout to Madison for her author's note. Absolutely bittersweet and had be tearing up. You're a rockstar.
Thank you so much to Madison Wright and NetGalley for the arc copy!!
