I read all of Nora Roberts - I love her as an author and she's my comfort zone. I can predict the layout of her books and where the story will lead me. Some people may get frustrated with that. I'm not some people. I love her storytelling and her way with words. I'll read whatever she writes, because I know I'll enjoy reading her writing, even if I don't enjoy the overall story. This book, for me, was neither great nor terrible. The start of the book was shaky for me and the dialogues between the characters seemed a bit choppy (this stayed a theme for me for the rest of the book). It was strange that the two main characters didn't meet until almost a 1/4 of the book was done - it almost seemed like an afterthought to have them meet. Once the two MC met, the connection between them seemed like that of more of friends than lovers -so when the lover angle was pushed, it almost seemed forced. I mean, Drea and Theo seemed to have way more chemistry and spark than Sloan and Nash. The antagonists seemed deranged. I guess that's the point but, I find it hard to believe that people who are so deranged can go about their day to day lives without raising suspicion in their immediate circles. Also the conversation between Clara and Sam was cringeworthy at times. I'll admit I skimmed many of their conversations. The climax was underwhelming. The climax supposed to make you root harder for your protagonist and celebrate their triumph. My only thought after reading the last chapter was "meh".
To conclude, not Ms. Roberts' best work - but not her worst either.

Nora Robert’s always has a way with weaving a perfect story. This title is no different. I was intrigued from the start.

The newest title by Nora Roberts grabs you just as all her others. I have read every book she has published.
The characters are rich, the plot intense and subject matter was interesting. Loved the room by room demo and redecorating more than I thought I would!
The only issue I had (and it's been in a couple other books as well) was the single typo. They get me EVERY time like a splinter. Around page 38x, when Nash is trying to tell Sloan he loves her, and she responds she'd rather he just come out with it instead of beating around the issue, the line read "rather then" instead of "rather THAN".
Please fix before printing thousands of copies!!

As always, solid mystery from Nora Roberts. It had more time with the killers that I would have preferred and the ending felt a little abrupt. I loved the relationships in this story, the family and the romantic.

Another Winn from Nora Roberts. This one had a very distinct J.D Robb vibe which I really appreciated, but I understand it may not be for everyone. Very suspenseful with a lot of creepy insight into the twisted minds of people who put purpose in front of human life.

Per usual Nora Roberts kicked off at a leisurely pace as she masterfully crafted the characters, weaving together three intertwining tales. You felt like you were having coffee with them—classic Nora Roberts magic! But when everything clicked, oh boy, it was a wild ride! The serial killer plot took a sharp turn I totally didn’t see coming. Trust me, I won’t spill the beans—gotta keep some surprises intact!

I was hooked from the beginning. It was insta-love with all the characters and the setting and the flow of the story. I was also pleased that the story started from “now” and not with the first 2/3 of the book in the past. Hidden Nature will forever be a recurring read for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press and Nora Roberts for this book. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~

I always enjoy Nora Roberts and I found this story to be entertaining and interesting. However, the serial killers storyline was difficult to wade through as the dialogue was extremely obnoxious.

3.75 Stars
I’ve read a few books by this author, and I definitely prefer their romantic suspense novels. This one was a lengthy read with some slow parts, but I was never entirely bored—except for all the remodeling details. The story starts off with a bang and builds steadily, culminating in a tense and exciting ending.
The characters were a highlight for me. Sloan is a strong female lead, and I really enjoyed the fact that we got not just one. but two love stories. While Sloan and Nash were great, I especially loved Drea and Theo’s dynamic.
One unique aspect of this book was following the serial killer couple. Usually, in these kinds of stories, you’re left guessing what the villains are up to, but here, we got insight into their actions, which added an extra layer of creepiness.
And of course, the cute dogs were a nice bonus! Overall, this was a solid read, and I’d definitely recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.

I love pretty much everything Nora writes, and this was no exception! I liked the slow build of the relationship and the friendship that developed first. I loved the picturesque setting and the people that are working to make a great place even better. I also liked the relationship Sloan had with Joel. We all need found family like that. The bits with the serial killers were both creepy and over-the-top sappy. It succeeded in giving me the heebie jeebies.
Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review this book prior to publication.

Ooo this was good! Such impressively written characters and pacing. Highly recommend this one!
Thank you NetGalley and Nora Roberts!

I have become a big fan of Nora Roberts and this book doesn't disappoint. Thank you to Net Galley for the opportunity to read it before it is published.
Hidden Nature had just the right amount of romance and just the right amount of mystery and tension. I love the description of the settings in all the seasons. The characters, Sloan, Nash, Drea, Theo, family members, the crazy couple and of course the sweet dogs were so well developed. It's the kind of book I want to keep reading but then I don't want it to end.
I'm not going to give you a synopsis of the book but I just going to tell you that you must read it.

Sloan Cooper's life as a Natural Resources police officer suddenly stopped when she walked into an active robbery in a convenience store and was seriously injured by a shot from the thief. After lengthy surgery, during which she was brought back to life on the operating table, she had a long recovery ahead of her. Added to her grief was the fact that her boyfriend dumped her while she was in the hospital.
Determined to get back on her feet again and back to work, she moved into her parent's home in Heron’s Rest.
When a local woman vanished, Sloan went to work searching online for similar cases. She found several similar cases across three states, both men and women of different ages. The circumstances were the same. They were found missing, but their cars remained parked where they had left them.
With the help of her new boyfriend, who shared her passion for solving mysteries, she got the support she needed to investigate the case. Despite the danger of investigating this case before she fully recovered from her injuries, she was determined to move full speed ahead to stop the abductions before any more lives were lost.

This is a little JD Robb, a little classic suspense Nora. And it’s a perfect blend of both sides of her literary genius. Sloan and Nash don’t realize that they’ve sort of danced around each other a few times in their lives, but we don’t know that right away either. And the cadence of this is very well paced. The before. The event. The almost gone. The healing. The after. And the love. Always the love, even if they weren’t looking to find it.
Add in some seriously twisted criminals and it’s easy to see why Nora Roberts is still a powerhouse. She sucks you in so masterfully that you don’t realize you’re halfway through a slow burn that feels fast. And then she lets you inside the minds of the truly unhinged so you’re wondering how this all ends. THEN? Then she hits you with the main event in a way that you might not have seen coming. With all of that, she still keeps the hope and the humanity and the love front and center for you to feel less bitterness. So yeah, this is very well done and will keep you guessing.

What an amazingly marvelous book! Its definitely has all the feels. Suspense, romance, family, real life and great dogs. The characters were so well planned out, I loved how they were slowly introduced, not overwhelming, just the right pace. The whole book flowed so very nicely. Sometimes with so many characters, it gets confusing, Ms. Roberts introduced the characters perfectly, so we could remember who was who, easily.
I'm a speed reader by nature, but after the first few chapters, I purposely slowed myself down so I could take it all in. I'm so glad I did, this is definitely a book to savor as you read it.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and Ms. Roberts for the chance to read this advanced reader copy.

Another great Nora Roberts novel. I love the atmosphere and mountain setting she brought to this book. The storyline just keeps drawing you along.
Natural Resources police officer, Sloan Cooper, and her partner had just taken down three men preying on hikers in the Western Maryland mountains. Driving back, she pulled in at a convenience store—and walked right into a robbery in progress. One gunshot from a jittery thief was about to change her world.
After being shocked back to life on the operating table, she has a long recovery ahead, so she moves back to her parents’ peaceful house in Heron’s Rest. As for the boyfriend who dumped her via text while she was in the hospital, good riddance.
She may be down, but she’s not out. So when a woman vanishes, leaving her car behind in a supermarket parking lot, Sloan searches online for similar cases. She finds them, spread across three states. Men and women, old and young—the missing seem to have nothing in common. And the abductions keep happening.
Luckily, the new man in her life shares her passion for solving this mystery. But it will take every ounce of endurance to get to the dark heart of this bizarre case—and she's willing to risk her life again if that's what it takes to stop the horror.

The first Nora Roberts book I ever read was "The Reef." I was home with the flu in high school, and my mom's best friend bought it for me to read. I didn't become a huge Nora Roberts fan until I graduated college; however, once I did I started to literally mark release dates on my calendar. May is always Nora Roberts month for me, and I could not wait for "Hidden Nature" to be released this May. That is why I was super excited to get a chance to read this one early.
I really enjoyed this book. I especially liked the natural progression of the characters in the book. I also like that not only did I get a satisfying story for the main characters, but for the secondary characters as well.
Not to be a spoiler, but if you consider yourself a Christian, the subject matter of this book may bother you a bit. I found myself a bit shocked at some of the subject matter of the “suspense” story. All in all, this was still an amazing book. I expect nothing else from Nora. I recommend it to all Suspense readers, regardless of it they like Romantic Suspense or not.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**

Nora never ceases to amaze me. This is about a female law enforcement officer who stumbles upon a serial killer and she could be next. I love how all of Nora’s female characters are strong women and Sloan is a bad ass. Thank you to NetGalley for access to this arc.

True to all Nora Roberts mystery/thrillers, this started out strong, and by that I mean it gets right into the story without having to slog through 50 boring pages of background.
Great setting, perfect amount of tension, small town living, and a sweet dopey dog.

I'm a big fan of Nora Roberts and love all of her books. This one is another romantic suspense book, though light on the suspense and more about the characters and their development. I loved all of the characters and felt invested in them and their recovery and resolve to over come hurdles. The book is also heavy on home improvement, which I'm always interested in, so literally seeing the houses improve, along with the design elements was very interesting to me. I finished the book in 4 days, alternating with not being able to put it down, while also taking my time to savor it, and not wanting it to end. In addition, I absolutely loved how Nora Roberts ended the book, wrapping everything up, which I wish she would have done in a few other books. Nora Roberts has such a unique and wonderful way of having you fall in love with her characters, family dynamics and writes in such a detail, descriptive way that this one will be another reread for me! I highly recommend it and give it 5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley for providing an early preview to this book.
