Great book. My one complaint is that it was too short. I wanted more. This is my first book by this author, but would read more.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of ths book.
Quick paced, action filled story. Good characters for the setting. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
This was a very quick read and though some of the storylines were similar to other books I have read the author moves quickly from scene to scene which I found refreshing. Jade is taking over her father’s business in Memphis and she knows the other high-powered player will make a play to take her out. She must be ready for that and have a plan in place when she succeeds. A good story.
A short but dramatic story. Crime boss, revenge, rival gangs and the next chapter. Basic synopsis
Didn't realise it was so short.
This novella was quick, easy, and straight to the point. While that is sometimes good, considering it's a novella, it lacked character development. But it wasn't a bad read. I was actually happy to see that the female, Jada, was the new queenpin! We rarely see a female as the boss in these books. I would recommend it.
I really enjoyed how good this mystery was in this story, the concept was everything that I was hoping for from the description. The characters worked well in this universe and was invested in what was going on. Michael Allen has a strong writing style and glad I got to read this.
This. Lol was a ok read just very short a d straight to the point . I would day it's more a short story but was ok .
“Queenpin” is a gripping novel that follows the journey of Jade Daniels, a 25-year-old woman who unexpectedly inherits her father’s drug empire after his untimely death. Set against the backdrop of the gritty streets of Memphis, the story delves into Jade’s struggle to navigate the perilous world of crime, where she must confront power struggles, betrayal, and intense rivalries
.
As Jade steps into her new role, she quickly proves her mettle by forming strategic alliances and taking down her most formidable rival, known as Black. Her character evolves from a grieving daughter into a powerful figure determined to secure her legacy in a male-dominated environment. The narrative highlights her cunning and determination as she expands her operations beyond illegal activities into legitimate businesses.
QUEENPIN had potential but felt way too rushed, leaving the characters and plot underdeveloped. I wanted more depth and backstory to really connect with Jade’s journey.
This was a quick action-packed short story. Two crime bosses are fighting over territory. Since this story is so short, we lose background and character information. It's still a decent story but lacks depth.
This was a very quick read. As a Memphian I was curious to read this one just to see how the storyline would play out. The plot was very familiar as with other similiar stories. However, I would love to read more about how her reign continues, Trust is a huge component of this criminal world and I was glad to see that those who chose to stay under her reign were in fact loyal. As a women in that line of work, we all know that many will perceive you as weak. Short and to the point but I think it could for sure make a great ongoing series.
