This was a very quick read. As a Memphian I was curious to read this one just to see how the storyline would play out. The plot was very familiar as with other similiar stories. However, I would love to read more about how her reign continues, Trust is a huge component of this criminal world and I was glad to see that those who chose to stay under her reign were in fact loyal. As a women in that line of work, we all know that many will perceive you as weak. Short and to the point but I think it could for sure make a great ongoing series.

As Jade steps into her new role, she quickly proves her mettle by forming strategic alliances and taking down her most formidable rival, known as Black. Her character evolves from a grieving daughter into a powerful figure determined to secure her legacy in a male-dominated environment. I really enjoyed how good this mystery was in this story, the concept was everything that I was hoping for from the description. The characters worked well in this universe and was invested in what was going on. Michael Allen has a strong writing style and glad I got to read this.

This was a very quick read and though some of the storylines were similar to other books I have read the author moves quickly from scene to scene which I found refreshing. Jade is taking over her father’s business in Memphis and she knows the other high-powered player will make a play to take her out. She must be ready for that and have a plan in place when she succeeds. A good story.

Great book. My one complaint is that it was too short. I wanted more. This is my first book by this author, but would read more.
