I loved the premise here and the tagline about Paris not always being a good idea was intriguing to me. You figure out almost immediately that none of the characters are very likable or even decent people but in a thriller, who cares? I found the pacing to be pretty fast and while some twists were surprising some weren’t but that was ok for me. I was assuming this would be about four stars for me until the ending and now I’m def bumping it down. I hate an ambiguous ending where you’re not sure what happened and that’s what we were given here. It could be seen as two different outcomes and I don’t like that at all, I want clear and concise answers. Blah. But if you enjoy that type of thing the rest of this was a pretty fun popcorn style wild thriller! The ending was just disappointing for me.

To post a review while one is still thinking about the book or to wait? I decided to not wait. I don't think my stars would change, but maybe my comments would? Three unlikeable characters in a very twisty situation with a lot of clues being given to the reader. Really, they should all be figured out well before they are revealed, but somehow I didn't catch most of them, which is surprising considering my own family had been involved in a somewhat related situation. (Can't tell you.......spoiler!) But as always, I am glad when authors do enough research to present situations accurately. I do really wish I had liked at least one of the characters in the book, I always like someone to root for, but there was no redeeming person. It still made for an engaging read, waiting to see where these three went next.

Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau makes her adult debut with The French Honeymoon. Taylor arrives in Paris, alone, to check into a honeymoon suite with no suitcase, no plan and a whole lot of stolen money. Cassie and Olivier arrive around the same time living a life of luxury while Cassie documents everything on social media. Taylor finds Cassie and begins to track every move they make. It was the life Taylor was supposed to be living.
The French Honeymoon was a thriller-lite story about three characters. Taylor who arrives in France with stolen money and seems down on her luck. Olivier, a French man desperate to stay in New York but his via expires when he loses his job and Cassie, the daughter of his recently deceased landlord who seems to hold the golden ticket for him. However, it is not enough to keep me guessing until the end. I do like Jouhaneau's writing style, but a character driven thriller just didn't work for me. All three characters were insufferable at times, and they all seemed to super toxic.
The twist at the end was a little predictable, and without giving anything away, I really felt like most of the end of the story was rushed. The story was a quick and easy read, and a great palette cleanser, but overall I felt it was an okay story.

The idea of this sounded soooo good. The cover looked amazing. However this fell extremely short and felt very rushed. I felt bored

I remember reading this author's previous work. I wish this was more simplified. I really liked the mystery but again the characters (which is the most important part for me) were un connectable.

I will say for a debut adult thriller I think this one was pretty good, but it didn’t quite reach its full potential in my opinion, I will be interested to see how her writing of adult books evolves. It grabbed my attention right away, I love any book set in Paris, it has multiple POVs with questionable characters all around, quick chapters with a mix of past and present and I was really looking forward to see where it went! But at some point it came to a standstill and just felt like nothing was happening, we weren’t moving forward, and it got repetitive and in general I would say it didn’t have enough dialogue. It may work for the calm thriller lovers, it is less than 300 pages so it’s a quick read too! Again, I think for a debut it was pretty good, but as a whole it left me wanting more. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you @netgalley @bookmarked and Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau for this e-arc, it comes out April 15th!

Wow! This book was amazing and full of surprises!
I did not see a lot of it coming! It was a quick read and one you will enjoy!

3.5⭐️'s for me. This had some great twist and turns right from the beginning with some family drama. The ending was a little bit predictable but such a fast paced read and easy to get through. It is also a really good reminder that if you are out and about to try and not post anything in real time on social media so you are not as easily tracked by others.... that is all I want to say so I don't give to much away 😊

With a dreamy Parisian setting, morally gray characters, and a voyeuristic premise, The French Honeymoon offers a twisty escape into obsession, secrets, and curated perfection gone wrong.
Taylor Quinn arrives in Paris alone, heartbroken and carrying a suspicious amount of cash. When she becomes fixated on newlyweds Cassie and Olivier, whose picture-perfect honeymoon plays out like a fairytale on social media, things spiral fast. But no one in this story is exactly who they seem, and as their paths intertwine, the glossy fantasy gives way to something much darker.
The novel delivers serious vibes: luxury hotels, moody cafés, and that eerie contrast between the city of love and the tension bubbling underneath. The character work is strong- especially Taylor, whose descent into obsession felt unsettling and real. I also appreciated that none of the characters are particularly likable, which works in the context of a psychological thriller.
The themes of social media perfection vs. reality, toxic relationships, and identity were thought-provoking, and I enjoyed how the story left me questioning everyone’s motives right up until the final page.
If you’re in the mood for a dark, bingeable read with a stunning backdrop and some delightfully twisted characters, The French Honeymoon is worth the trip- just know it’s not all macarons and romance in the City of Love.

I love a twisty thriller story, and the synopsis had my interest so immediately peaked that I practically tore my way through the first pages - stolen cash, obsession and deception? Sign me up.
The French Honeymoon is short and easy to get through, however for me it was a bit of a slow burn. I did appreciate the way that most of the twists came - from narrative instead of plot - and while I had problems with the characters, it was in a good way - I enjoyed wanting to shake or throttle them. The latter being more angled towards Cassie. Anyone who enjoys a plot fuelled by envy, jealousy and obsession would have fun reading the French Honeymoon.
The ending, however, did leave me slightly disappointed. After the way it was building up towards something big at the end, I found myself having to read the last part twice due to how I found it so anticlimactic it almost confused me. Occasionally, I can love an ending being open to interpretation, but it felt so vaguely written that I found myself not even trying to interpret it at all.
Regardless, I definitely had potential, and I'm intrigued to see what thriller Jouhanneau might write next. I think this is just her warm-up.

What a fun book! I love a good mystery and this absolutely delivered.
It's funny, since none of them are exactly likable characters, but I still wanted to know all the answers! Taylor, Cassie, and Olivier all have their own secrets, and that really adds to the story.
If you like a fast paced thriller set in a beautiful location (hello, Paris!) then check this book out!

I’m such a sucker for books set in Paris, and The French Honeymoon did not disappoint. It had all the vibes: moody tension, luxe locations, and a cast of characters who had me constantly side-eyeing the page like… can I trust anyone here? (Spoiler: no. No, you cannot.)
We meet Taylor Quinn at her absolute lowest—broke, heartbroken, and wandering the City of Love alone. But instead of finding fresh croissants and healing, she finds Cassie and Olivier, a picture-perfect couple living the Parisian dream. And let’s just say that things get messy fast. Taylor becomes obsessed in that slow-burn, train-wreck-you-can’t-look-away kind of way and the voyeurism element? So well done. Watching her spiral deeper into their world through social media stalking and real-life encounters was chilling, unsettling, and honestly kind of addictive.
The first half builds this eerie suspense that had me flipping pages late into the night. I did feel like the middle sagged just a bit—I wanted more punch and more twist of the knife—but once the ending hit, Oh. My. Gosh. It was rushed, yes, but that final note left me rethinking everything. Open-ended in the best way, it stuck with me long after I closed the book.
What really made this one shine for me was how character-focused it was. It’s a tight little cast—just Taylor, Cassie, and Olivier—and every single one of them is hiding something. No heroes here. Just deeply flawed people wrapped up in obsession, jealousy, and curated perfection. The way the book explores the difference between what we see online and what’s really going on behind the scenes? Chef’s kiss.
So yeah. Twisty, bingeable, and perfectly unsettling—The French Honeymoon is a dark little Parisian escape I couldn’t put down.

Thank you to NetGalley and SourceBooks Landmark for this E-Arc, in exchange for an honest review.
If you’re expecting a swoon-worthy romance set in Paris, The French Honeymoon by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau is here to shake things up. This isn’t your typical love story—it’s a tangled web of secrets, lies, and social media illusions, all playing out against the dreamy backdrop of the City of Love.
Taylor Quinn somehow finds herself tagging along on her friend Cassie’s honeymoon with her new husband, Olivier. Weird? Definitely. But Taylor has been obsessed with Cassie’s picture-perfect Instagram life, and once she’s in Paris, she quickly realizes that reality is far from the glossy highlight reel. One overheard argument later, and it’s clear that these newlyweds aren’t exactly basking in marital bliss. As the story unfolds through Taylor, Cassie, and Olivier’s perspectives, it becomes obvious—everyone has an agenda, and no one is as innocent as they seem.
None of these characters are particularly likable, but that’s what makes them so intriguing. They’re messy, manipulative, and self-serving in ways that feel unsettlingly real. Taylor is the easiest to sympathize with (even when she makes some *very* questionable decisions), while Cassie… well, let’s just say she’s a character you’ll have strong opinions about.
The twists aren’t jaw-dropping, but they’re woven in a way that keeps you hooked, like listening in on someone else’s drama that you *know* is going to implode. And the Paris setting? It adds the perfect contrast—romantic on the outside, but beneath the surface, things are far from picture-perfect. The open-ended conclusion might not be for everyone, but it leaves you thinking, which is always a good sign.
If you’re in the mood for a quick, addictive read with toxic relationships, social media obsession, and just the right amount of suspense, The French Honeymoon delivers. It’s a little *Gone Girl*, a little *Emily in Paris*, but with a dark, twisted edge.
4 Stars!
Book comes out on April the 15th.

"The Paris Apartment meets A Simple Favor in an unputdownable thriller about a honeymoon gone horribly wrong.
Sometimes, Paris is a terrible idea.
This is not how she imagined it, any of it. Taylor Quinn arrives at her honeymoon suite in the City of Love alone, sans suitcase, but with wads of stolen cash. When she catches a glimpse of newlyweds Cassie and Olivier enjoying their happily ever, she can't tear her eyes away. And Cassie makes their antics easy to follow as she reveals every detail of their picture-perfect trip on social media. Taylor's obsession builds as she tracks their every move. This was the kind of life she was supposed to be living, this was the marriage she should have had, this was the honeymoon she dreamed of.
The illusion is shattered when she overhears a heated argument between Cassie and Olivier, which reveals that they're not the lovestruck couple they pretend to be. But Cassie and Olivier have agendas of their own and Taylor can't see the danger in getting in the middle of this until it's too late. And now, no one will get out of Paris unscathed."
I am very much obsessed with A Simple Favor right now as I await the sequel, so thankfully The French Honeymoon is here to temporarily fill the gap.

I absolutely loved this book. It quickly became my new favorite book! "The French Honeymoon" is perfect for those Freida McFadden readers that live for suspense and the "can I guess what happens next" excitement. Anne-Sophie had me truly HOOKED from the beginning to the end. This read entangles romance and suspense to create a honeymoon gone wrong thriller that you will devour. RUN to get your copy (& maybe a copy for you bookish bestie too) !!

I enjoyed this psychological thriller, The French Honeymoon. Olivier American visa is about to expire when he meets his landlord's stepdaughter Cassie. He desperately wants to stay in the states and convinces Cassie to marry him for a green card. Cassie and Olivier spend their honeymoon in Paris and things are not what they seem. Fun surprises and twists and turns kept me engaged.

Obsession, secrets, and a Paris honeymoon gone very wrong— yes please 🇫🇷✨
Told from 3 different POVs, this book really made me think about how lives are seemingly perfect on social media and so far from that in reality. It was fast paced and easy to read. The writing was gripping and descriptive (I am craving macarons now). If you like unsympathetic characters with unreliable narration and an open-to-interpretation ending, this one is for you! I rated it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Huge thanks to @asjouhanneau and @netgalley for the ARC of The French Honeymoon. This one hits shelves on April 15, 2025 📖

This one slightly missed the mark for me, however still a solid story. The cover, book title and synopsis grabbed my attention, but the storytelling didn't hook me completely. I did binge this one because I wanted to see how it would end, but I did get a little confused here and there trying to keep the storylines straight in my head. The middle part where the action picked up - did make it a little bit more enjoyable. Read this one if you are looking for: all the mentions of Paris (macarons, Eiffel tower), marriage of convenience, cat and mouse thriller, and social media envy.
Thank you to Source Book Landmark for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

(Rounded up from 3.5 stars)
This is a fast-paced thriller with some surprising twists. I love the setting but found the depiction of Paris a bit cliché, so I can’t say that I armchair travelled with this book. While I did enjoy it quite a bit, none of the characters were particularly endearing, and I found myself quite annoyed with Cassie. She’s a stereotypical entitled brat. Interestingly enough, the ambiguity of the ending worked quite well even though I’m not usually a fan of open endings!

This was just not good to me. I felt the writing was not great, and I did not like any of the characters. They just seem like bad peopl and I do not think I can get into this book.
