perfect for a cold wintery night and a hot cup of tea.
I adored each of the main characters in this book as well as the side characters. Elsie, the FMC, was so well developed and loveable that I wanted to invite her over for tea and a chat about her adventures. I really enjoyed the fact that once in Midwinter Haven she wasn’t scared or stand-off-ish of the differed magical beings. She has such an excited curiosity and want to learn and understand them. She fully immersed herself into the town and that was something I really loved. I also enjoyed the world building that happened not only at the beginning of the book but throughout the entirety. There are so many magical elements in this book, laying marvelous groundwork for several other books. Author, Jenny Sandiford, truly is a talented magical writer. You can see and feel all of the love and time she put into this book. I will read this book over and over again each winter for many years to come, as well as any other books she decided to write in the future.
Winterfrost Market is so captivating you will want to sit down and read it all in one shot. So, grab your favorite blanket, a pot of tea or in my case a hot cup of Glühwein, and settle in this winter for a magically enchanting read.
This book was the perfect combination of romance, mystery, fantasy and adventure and I am desperately hoping for another book (or books) to follow this magical read.
🫖Thank you so very much Netgally and Jenny Sandiford for allowing me to be a part of this ARC team. I am blown away by your talent and cannot wait to see what magical reads you write next!🫖
***Contains an aromantic's view on romantasy.***
When tea-loving Elsie's mother disappears just before Midwinter, Elsie must leave the family's tea house and put her trust in a tracker by the name Kit - who's supposedly familiar with the dangerous, magical city her mother was travelling to. The question is why he's so familiar with all things magic... And why is he so secretive about his life? What else might he be hiding? In order to find her mother, Elsie might have to risk not only her health, but also her heart.
First of all; Winterfrost Market by Jenny Sandiford is SO COZY. As a Yule-lover, I was immediately drawn into the cozy story. I could smell the cinnamon, feel the Winter chill, and hear the roaring fireplaces. I can't stand the heat, brightness, and migraine-inducing sound levels of Summer, so I have been longing for a book that celebrates the joy and beauty of Winter instead of treating it like Summer's annoyingly depressing sibling - and here it is! The snow sparkles, the lights twinkle, and the tea never stops flowing.
...and then, there's the romance.
Listen, if you enjoy characters who make all the wrong choices because of someone they met *literally* days ago, then sure. I guess it's cute to risk everything because a guy (or gal) is hot? Why waste time trying to solve a crisis, when you can make goo-goo eyes instead?
I knew what I was getting myself into when I started the book, but because it's so centered on Midwinter, I still took the risk. And I'm glad I did! Romance will never be my thing, but at least the steamiest part of Winterfrost Market is the tea - so the ace part of my brain was perfectly fine during the entire reading of this book. If you're into the whole romance-thing, you're probably going to love it.
This book, where cities are named after the holiday season and every corner is decorated with bows of holly (falala lala), is PERFECT for when you want to cuddle down under a blanket with a hot cup of tea. Sandiford perfectly captures why Winter is my favourite season, and despite the romance, I can't wait to return to Midwinter Haven when the next book arrives.

Huge thank you to Velikor Publishing for making this book available through NetGalley. An even bigger thank you to Jenny Sandiford for writing it.
All opinions are my own.
OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK. A secret fey royal, festive setting, and hidden truths being revealed at each turn. It was an absolute page turner for me. Kit is a sweet character who acts all grumpy until he’s around Elsie. Elsie has a heart of gold and a no nonsense attitude when there is something standing between her and something she’s after. All the characters in this book felt really detailed and individual. I’m almost sad to have read it so quickly because now I have to wait until the next book is released. It was cozy and gave the butterflies in the stomach feeling that I just love in a book. This was a spectacular book!
This is a cozy, magical tale perfect for the holiday season. It follows Elsie, a tea-loving girl, as she ventures into a world of fae, elves, and witches to find her missing mother. With captivating world-building, charming characters, and a hint of romance, this lighthearted fantasy offers a fun escape filled with warmth and wonder. Ideal for readers who enjoy clean, enchanting stories with a sprinkle of magic.
Winterfrost Market is a charming, cozy romance fantasy that made for a delightful read. The story follows a tea-loving human, desperate to find her missing mother, and the brooding elf tracker with a dark past whom she hires to help her. Their journey together is filled with moments that make your heart flutter, and the relationship development between the two is incredibly sweet.
The story itself is light, with a straightforward plot that makes it a pretty quick read. The writing and worldbuilding are easy to follow, and the fun side characters add an extra layer of charm to the story. While the plot was a bit cliché for me, it was still undeniably cute, with a gentle, heartwarming vibe throughout.
If you’re in the mood for a cozy read that will calm your soul like a nice cup of herbal tea, Winterfrost Market is a perfect choice. It’s the kind of book that wraps you in warmth and leaves you with a smile!
Winterfrost Market by Jenny Sandiford is a cozy, winter themed romantasy that follows Elsie, who runs a travelling tea shop with her family in the town of Winterfrost where humans live away from other creatures. But after Elsie's mom doesn't return from Midwinter Haven, a place full of fae, vampires, and witches, Elsie decides to go find her despite the rumors of how dangerous that place is. With the help of Kit, a traveller that knows maybe too much about magic and Midwinter Haven, Elsie starts her journey of finding her mother. As their journey progresses, she sees that maybe not everything said about Midwinter Haven is true and after all there's beauty to magic. And maybe her travelling companion Kit is not as normal
as he seems to be.

This book, just as i've described it was the epitome of a cozy time! I must admit that I wasn't expecting to have such a good time. As a fantasy lover that appreciates a good worldbuilding, Jenny did an amazing job at creating these different sceneries with their unique personalities. The book had even a detailed map!! I especially loved Midwinter Heaven with its unique and magic shops and citizens. As Elsie was strolling through the streets, I felt like I was with her walking and being in love with the town. Jenny Sandiford's magical and descriptive writing was an important factor at making me, the reader, feel the magic and coziness. The portrayal of a loving family, strong friendship bonds was also perfectly executed. I also very much appreciated the constant mention of tea, I think it added to help set the perfect atmosphere. The only wish I have would probably be more in depth informations about the different creatures in this world, but I'm sure that we'll be told more in the upcoming stories about Midwinter Haven.
The characters as well es the worldbuilding were created perfectly. I loved Elsie! I loved her warm smile and big heart, how despite being scared of the changes she would go through, she was open to everything. I also think she went through a big character growth which I always love in a character. Kit on the other hand wasn't like your classic fantasy mmc, I was in love with his sweetness, shyness, and especially his interest
in birds and the little book he was putting together! I also loved how vh choose to set himself free from the chains his father mentally had him in.
The cute and wholesome romance between Elsie and Kit was just the perfect warmth this story needed. Big shotout to Pepper, the dog, she was my number one favorite character from the whole book.
Even though being in the more slower and cozy side of fantasy, Winterfost Market was never a boring book. I must admit, the last sixty pages even had me excited and scared! I can't stop but say that if you loved the book "An Enchantment of Ravens" , this book has very similar vibes but set in winter, so give it a chance. I promise you will not regret it.
Wintefrost market has secured its place as one of my favorite standalone fantasies, and I cannot wait to read more about this cozy and magic town.
Release date: October 24th, 2024
Thank you to NetGalley and Jenny Sandiford for providing me with a digital copy of Winterfrost Market in exchange for an honest review.
First and foremost, I want to extend my thanks to NetGalley and Velikor Publishing for the opportunity to read Winterfrost Market by @jennysandifordauthor as an ARC. I was drawn to this title initially by the adorable cover art followed closely by the description of the book as a cozy fantasy with fae vs. mortals.
I loved the little details about both the FMC and MMC that help form their characters as we get to meet them. The true star of the show is Pepper, the MMC’s dog. This book journeys through some world building and awkward encounters, and stays clean with a little FTB to appease the masses.
If I had to add a critique, my only issue was differentiating between Midwinter (the holiday) and Midwinter (the haven town). Sometimes the reference tricked me so as a heads up, there are two uses.
Otherwise this YA book had all the makings of a cozy fantasy book perfect for the season with one bed, hidden identity, and some mixed representation included. I’d definitely suggest picking it up for a nice quick standalone read.
This book comes out on Thursday, October 24th and will be available on #kindleunlimited !

This was a quick and easy read that I would honestly rate at a 3.5 (I’m rounding up for the sake of Goodreads).
The writing was really well done. I enjoyed the lyrical writing, because it gave off very cute and cozy vibes. The overall story is really cute- Elsie (the FMC) runs a tea market stall with her family, but her mom goes missing. She’s desperate to find her, so she pairs with a tracker to hunt her down.
Elsie and Kit were cute, but I needed/wanted more from them. More insights on their traveling days, more relationship building, something. I found myself struggling a little bit to connect with Elsie’s family. There was just something missing there for me. I think it might have needed to be fleshed out a little bit more and then I would have absolutely given it a legitimate full 4 stars or even 4.5 stars.
Overall, it’s a cute read if you’re looking for something light and quick. I would recommend it.
This beautiful and enchanting book was given by @netgalley Thank youuu soooo very much 🩵
Aahhh....the book is extremely beautiful and precious! The Characters, the world building and the most importantly the chemistry between the two main leads was extremely beautiful and heart touching ❤️
Elsie has a soft heart and strong determination with brains...she was indeed the most beautifully written character with appropriate depth! And the sisterhood shared between both the sisters is extremely beautiful ❤️
And the MMC, Kit has definitely charmed me with his Fae power! He is soo sweet, considerate along with being a royal...not only by lineage but by heart ❤️ The strained yet to be better relation with his brother Anders is something definitely to look out for!
Pepper has my heart....that cute fluffball is adorable 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
The chemistry, the proximity and the blushing - cute moments between Elsie and Kit made me have butterflies and giggle the entire time!!!! 💜💜
Can't wait for book 2
Winterfrost Market by Jenny Sandiford
Rating: Going back and forth between 3.75/5 and 4/5
Summary:
A tea-loving mortal with a warm heart. A worldly fae prince in disguise. Midwinter is brewing something magical…
At the enchanting Winterfrost Market, Elsie is run off her feet at her family’s cosy travelling tea house. But her holiday spirit dims when her mother fails to return from a journey to Midwinter Haven—a legendary land in the north rumoured to be home to elves, witches, and fae. Desperate to find her, Elsie enlists the help of Kit, a charming tracker with secrets of his own. As they travel north, Elsie’s world opens to magic and wonder, but also danger. She quickly suspects that Kit might be one of the clever fae her sister warned her about. Is he her dream prince, or an enemy in disguise? To find her mother, Elsie will have to gamble her heart.
Plot & Pacing:
The plot offers some truly delightful elements, with plenty of intrigue and moving pieces that make the story engaging. The steady plot progression kept me turning the pages, but there were moments when it felt like a lot was happening without enough depth. The first half had a great pace—I flew through it in one sitting! However, the second half slowed down unexpectedly, even as the plot intensified. The romance, in particular, could have benefited from more breathing room, allowing the connection between Elsie and Kit to develop more naturally.
Characters:
The characters were charming, especially the side characters—and I have to give a special mention to the dog! Elsie and Kit were both likeable, with Elsie’s tea-making skills and big heart, and Kit’s honour and quiet strength adding warmth to their personalities. However, I felt we only began to scratch the surface with them. I would have loved to see more depth and complexity revealed through showing rather than telling, as it would have allowed for a more organic discovery of their unique traits. Occasionally, the dialogue felt a bit clunky, which disrupted the flow for me at times, especially as a reader with dyslexia. But overall, there’s a lot of potential here, and I’m looking forward to seeing how these characters evolve in future books.
Romance:
The romance has some wonderful elements, but it felt a bit rushed in places. I wanted to see more of Elsie and Kit’s connection build slowly, with more moments to let the relationship breathe and grow. That said, I loved Kit’s protective side and Elsie’s stubbornness. Their dynamic is fun, and I look forward to seeing how their relationship evolves in the future.
Writing Style:
The writing has a cozy, warm quality that suits the story perfectly. I appreciated the lovely prose and the immersive atmosphere, especially in the first half, which drew me right in. For the most part, it was accessible, which I really valued as a reader with dyslexia. Occasionally, the narrative leaned more towards telling rather than showing, which limited some of the depth, and there were moments when the dialogue felt a bit stilted. However, the overall tone remains comforting and adds a delightful charm to the cosy, magical setting.
World-Building:
The world-building is one of the highlights, with charming and whimsical elements that create a cosy, warm, and magical atmosphere. I enjoyed exploring the different magical groups, and the overall vibe was perfect for a winter read. While I appreciated the magical touches, I found myself wishing for a bit more depth in the magic system. A deeper dive into the rules and limitations could further enrich this world, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in its unique details.
Final Thoughts:
Winterfrost Market is a warm, cosy read that’s perfect for autumn and winter. It’s the kind of book you want to curl up with, a hot cup of tea in hand. Although there were a few moments where the pacing in the second half slowed down and some parts leaned more towards telling than showing, the story has plenty of charm and potential. With its enchanting world and delightful characters, this book lays the groundwork for what could be a truly cosy series. I’m excited to see where it goes next!
The review is online on Goodreads (meltriestowriteastory) and will be put online on my TikTok account where I share my own journey as a beginner writer with dyslexia and my love for books. The review will be online on Saturday October 19th
Winterfrost Market
By Jenny Sandiford
Brew up a cup of tea, snuggle under a blanket and devour this delicious story.
Tea shop owner Elsie is desperate for news of her missing mother and engages a strange wanderer Kit to take her into the dangerous Fae territory in hopes of finding her. However, both parties have secrets of their own and are unprepared for the danger at the end of the journey.
A super sweet and cosy story which I would have loved to read snuggled up on a winters night to devour. Tropes at play include enemies to lovers, forced proximity and second chance romance as well as the strong familial bond Elsie has to her family.
Great read, not to be missed.
Thanks for the arc read Netgalley and Jenny Sandiford.
Sat down for a nice cup of tea and ended up with an overly sweet cup of mush.
There's a story here, but this feels like a book 2 or a spin off to a series that could explore Midwinter Haven, the stone and the Royal family. Instead it feels like a half story with plot points I wanted more off and others I could have done without.
The characters....Elsie was boring and weak and I enjoyable. Kit lacked any real substance. Anders and Liri were the best, let's have their stories.
And the dialogue. How many times can a person hug someone, isn't there another word for this? And using deity terms over and over; angles, ancient mother, azure sisters. Terms that mean nothing without any reference.
This needed more world building, stronger characters and less convenient additions (oh suddenly her can fly?).
I would grab this book if I had the choice over again, but if you do read it with a pinch of salt to balance out the overly sweet story.
I loved this book. It's an enchanting cosy fantasy. It got me out of my reading slump and I couldn't put it down.
Elise and Kit have great chemistry and both are great characters. Pepper is adorable! I didn't get bored at any point as the story was fast paced. The world building was fantastic and I want to live in Midwinter Haven. It seems such a magical place.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. if you are looking for a Christmassy/Winter read then i recommend this book.
The descriptive writing is great, you really immersed in the surroundings that are described. Its a nice little cosy read about Elise whose mother has gone missing, so sets out on a mission to find her with help from Kit.
❄️ grumpy x sunshine
❄️ forced proximity
❄️ cosy fantasy
I would have liked to have seen the relationship to grow abit more between Elsie and Kit, but it still some cute moments. Loved the dog Pepper though.
a wonderful blend of cosy fantasy and hallmark romance for a cold winter day. make yourself a cup of tea, wrap into a blanket and fall in love with a whole new world.
for a story set in the coolest season it only radiates warmth.
i loved the winter vibe and the world building was just the right amount for an easy read. the characters felt a little one dimensional at times and i felt they could have done with a little more depth, but that’s my only nitpick.
i will definitely be looking out for anything by jenny!
🥀 cosy fantasy
🥀 clean romance
🥀 grumpy x sunshine
🥀 forced proximity
🥀 supernatural mmc
🥀 an adorable dog named pepper
If you enjoy a mug of cinnamon hot chocolate on a snowy day, this book is for you ✨

The Winterfrost Market is the story of a woman’s mission to recovery her missing mother in a land of Fae, vampires, witches and elves. Her guide, a grumpy Fae Princeling in disguise on a dreaded mission.
I enjoyed this cosy story. Is the perfect lighthearted read in between heavier reading plans. It’s full of crunchy snow, crackling fires, a cinnamon and cardamom steamy tea. Delightful!
However, I found the characters were quite simplistic. There were low stakes and not a lot of depth to personalities. However, it’s marketed as a cosy fantasy, so I took that into account.
Thank you for#netgalley for distracting me from my heavier #victober2024 reads 😂
Winterfrost Market is a cute and cozy romantic fantasy. It follows Elsie, who runs a traveling tea shop with her sister and mother, who has recently gone missing in Midwinter Haven, a place that is rumored to have dangerous magical creatures. She hires Kit, a fae prince in disguise, to help her travel to Midwinter Haven and find her mother. I love the grumpy/sunshine pairing of Elsie and Kit and Elsie was such a sweet protagonist that you couldn't help but cheer for. The only thing I wish is that backstory and world building were a bit more fleshed out. Overall though I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be keeping an eye out for Jenny Sandiford's future books!
my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
age rating: new adult, but can be read by 14+
spice rating: kisses, no spice
kit - a secret fae prince whose two main interests in life are birdwatching and drawing, and he’s creating his own bird field journal?? 🥹 CONSIDER ME HOOKED.
elsie - i honestly had a hard time connecting with her as a character, but elsie is a sweet and headstrong girl, who has a sharp tongue and is not afraid to use it.
the plot: this book radiated coziness and comfort. the snowy holiday vibes made me want to curl up in bed with a steaming cup of tea and fuzzy blanket. the story was fun and well paced, and i appreciated that there was really no ‘dull’ part for me to get stuck in. the royal ball was a fun touch too!
the writing:
i loved the charm and sweetness the writing managed to portray. scenery and culinary descriptions were tactfully done.
i think some more world-building would have helped my understand of the story overall, and i feel that quite often the narrative wandered more towards ‘showing’ rather than ‘telling.’
the dialogue flowed a bit strange at times for me, sometimes sounding formal and proper, and then more modern at other times.
the characters also seemed to speak only one sentence at a time throughout the book, which kinda threw me off and felt unnatural.
thank you to jenny sandiford and netgalley for the e-arc copy in exchange for my honest review!
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed book. I would describe it as a sweet and cosy fantasy romance and a great introduction to fantasy. It was easy to read, fast paced and I loved the wintery vibes and the main characters. It was such a cosy read and perfect for this time of year.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Genre: New Adult, Romance, Sci Fi & Fantasy
Cozy mystery, that pretty much sums up this book. Its a sweet story, a little gentle mystery, some drama, not the heart pounding sort but enough to keep the story interesting. I enjoyed it, its not one I'd re-read, but was entertaining.
Some interesting characters, a fun story line and a gentle romance. I loved the tea descriptions, felt lovely and warming with all that snow.
Stars: Three, a fun story.
