Midnight Jones is focused on her job at an omnipresent biotech company as a way to give her twin sister a good life. They are alone in the world after their parents have gone on a never ending vacation to escape the challenges of caring for Dawn.

Midnight reviews scores from testing - finding a disturbing profile (Profile K). As she delves into the details of Profile K, the company denies it's excistance. Midnight reaches out to coworkers, supervisors and the police.

The subject, Profile K, escalates his enjoyment by torturing women in a variety of methods. It is pretty insense and can get a little distrubing. As we learn about the Profile K individual, he learns of Midnight and the possibility she can id him. And so the race begins!

Truly exceptional writing bringing forth a very unique concept. The character development is also so interesting. Very twisty and a real nail-biter.

My review is just my opinion. I love Helen Fields and her books are great. The Profiler started off with a bang. The first chapter was terrifying and I couldn’t wait to get into the story. Overall, I didn’t enjoy this one as I had some of her previous work.

This is such a good book!!! It is a new take on killers and how an uncommitted crime is coming and how they knew it was coming. It was so fun to read this introspective take and the story that came along with it was great. It kept me hooked from the very beginning, i like it a lot!!

DNF. I gave it a shot but I'm not going to finish this one.

I don't like swearing, at all, and there's too much to overlook. The explanation for this mega-corp, NETCO, is flat and straight out of a comic book. The author tells us about it but the reality doesn't live up to the hype. How does such a powerful, all consuming organization leave such massive loose ends?

The MC isn't much to write home about. (Midnight and Dawn, really?) She's kinda boring and lacks depth.

The bad guy, on the other hand, was very interesting. His POV was gripping. I wish we had more of an explanation for how he came to be what he is, other than the evil mega corp technology did it. Sorry, but that's lazy. He was written so well but, ultimately, he was a missed opportunity.

We have a cameo from Dr. Connie Woolwine, a world renowned profiler, who has been in Helen Fields’ previous books. I love her character and have a feeling we’ll be seeing much more of her in the future!

This was a fabulous, suspenseful and gripping read classified as a stand-alone but does have a recurring character. No worries if you’ve missed her previous books, but Dr. Connie Woolwine’s character is worth the trip through Helen Fields’ backlog of books.

Absolutely thrilling. It was so dark and twisted but SO good. This is probably one of the most graphic thrillers i’ve read. I hung on to every word.
Dawn and Dorris were such lights. The parts where we got to see their relationship were a complete reprieve from all the darkness.
This was the first book I have read from Helen Fields and it will definitely not be my last.

I was really drawn to the concept here and the cover is cool and I catching, unfortunately for something with such a dramatic blurb and premise it seemed to plug along like a workhorse rather than charge forward like a stallion... The pacing and tone felt off given the subject matter. It was dark and disturbing but with a detachment that I appreciated on one hand (the subject matter is harsh, as are some of the descriptions even in their clinical tone) but on the other felt incongruent given the story. I had a hard time connecting to it as a result and it felt like work rather than a thriller. This one wasn't a good fit for me.

This book kept my anxiety at a solid 8 throughout. I really enjoyed Midnight, the main character. I felt so much sympathy for her and how hard she worked and how little recognition and appreciation she received in return. Other than from Dawn, of course. Their relationship was my favorite part of this book.
That's what really sticks with me; not the serial killer myself, but the love between the twins. Profile K committed horrendous crimes that were hard to read about. But he's got nothing on Midnight.

This is a creepy thriller you should read with the lights on behind locked doors….

This is disturbingly good, but you have to be ready for some gore and some scary death scenes. This book is the epitome of thrilling and will hold you captive until the end.

When Midnight Jones realizes there might be a serial killer on the loose, after she profiles him in the course of her job, she can’t get anyone to listen to her. Everyone thinks she’s being overreactive, but Midnight must find “Profile K” before he finds her.

I’m a big fan of psychological thrillers so I loved this. It might be too much for some readers, but it was right up my alley. I loved it and I look forward to reading more by this author.

It seems I read The Profiler by Helen Fields before in April 2024, and it's being released again in February 2025 as Profile K. I was wondering why the premise and these characters seemed familiar.

When I originally read the book last year, I enjoyed the book. But this second read was just okay for me. Maybe that is because I felt like I did indeed read it before.

Midnight Jones is an analyst trained to understand the human mind. But everything changes when, during her work, she discovers Profile K’s file because K stands for killer, and she knows that someone more dangerous than she could have ever imagined walks among them.

I so enjoyed Profile K. This was an edge-of-your-seat story. The story was intense, and the action felt like it never stopped. There were so many good twists and tension. I really liked the author's writing style and how the story unraveled.

I really liked Midnight as a character. And the stalking part was quite scary.

I would recommend Profile K. This time, I am rating it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Helen Fields does it again in this genre, it had that element that I wanted and enjoyed the overall story going on in this. It had a tension that I was looking for and was glad everything worked together. The characters had that element that I was looking for and glad I read this.

Midnight Jones works for a big company where she is an analyst trained to understand the human mind. One day she discovers a profile that seems to be incorrect. It says "Profile K" - K for killer.
Among the problems coming with this profile, he got a notification with Midnights name when she started working with his profile... and that "was the moment she became his next target".

Content warnings: This books contains themes of violence, murder, assault, SA, animal abuse, stalking.

In this book you get to follow midnights pov and also "Profile K"´s pov which I really enjoy in books. I like the "cat and mouse" aspect of the plot and think it adds a lot to the suspense.

I rated this book 3 stars.

Wow wow wow!! This book was just crazy when you really think about it! The storyline was so very interesting! This was such a fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I will say it’s classified as a Mystery/Thriller when it’s really just “Murder” it’s dark, it’s evil, I really struggled with the first 180 pages and can see why so many marked it as DNF or rated it poorly I was also wanting to rate it a 1/2 star it was so graphic and as women we do feel so much fear as it is, it’s almost like this book makes you 100000x more paranoid and afraid. I also didn’t like the male predator going after women, the main character was creepy and disgusting in every way. I’m glad it finally picked up I would rate this a solid 3.5/4 stars I think the author wrote really well, it’s just too dark for me and for me it’s not something I would pick up again. I did love the main female characters and Doris and Jessica they were great.

*Spoiler alert * but my gay heart was sad Midnight and Jessica didn’t end up together that would have been icing on the cake 🥲
