Wow wow wow!! This book was just crazy when you really think about it! The storyline was so very interesting! This was such a fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! I will say it’s classified as a Mystery/Thriller when it’s really just “Murder” it’s dark, it’s evil, I really struggled with the first 180 pages and can see why so many marked it as DNF or rated it poorly I was also wanting to rate it a 1/2 star it was so graphic and as women we do feel so much fear as it is, it’s almost like this book makes you 100000x more paranoid and afraid. I also didn’t like the male predator going after women, the main character was creepy and disgusting in every way. I’m glad it finally picked up I would rate this a solid 3.5/4 stars I think the author wrote really well, it’s just too dark for me and for me it’s not something I would pick up again. I did love the main female characters and Doris and Jessica they were great.

*Spoiler alert * but my gay heart was sad Midnight and Jessica didn’t end up together that would have been icing on the cake 🥲

It seems I read The Profiler by Helen Fields before in April 2024, and it's being released again in February 2025 as Profile K. I was wondering why the premise and these characters seemed familiar.

When I originally read the book last year, I enjoyed the book. But this second read was just okay for me. Maybe that is because I felt like I did indeed read it before.

I so enjoyed Profile K. This was an edge-of-your-seat story. The story was intense, and the action felt like it never stopped. There were so many good twists and tension. I really liked the author's writing style and how the story unraveled.

I really liked Midnight as a character. And the stalking part was quite scary.

I would recommend Profile K. This time, I am rating it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Helen Fields does it again in this genre, it had that element that I wanted and enjoyed the overall story going on in this. It had a tension that I was looking for and was glad everything worked together. The characters had that element that I was looking for and glad I read this.

This is disturbingly good, but you have to be ready for some gore and some scary death scenes. This book is the epitome of thrilling and will hold you captive until the end.

When Midnight Jones realizes there might be a serial killer on the loose, after she profiles him in the course of her job, she can’t get anyone to listen to her. Everyone thinks she’s being overreactive, but Midnight must find “Profile K” before he finds her.

I’m a big fan of psychological thrillers so I loved this. It might be too much for some readers, but it was right up my alley. I loved it and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Absolutely thrilling. It was so dark and twisted but SO good. This is probably one of the most graphic thrillers i’ve read. I hung on to every word.
Dawn and Dorris were such lights. The parts where we got to see their relationship were a complete reprieve from all the darkness.
This was the first book I have read from Helen Fields and it will definitely not be my last.

OMG! The most frightening 1st chapter I’ve ever read!
A quick reminder of how dark Helen Field’s thrillers are.🫣

Midnight works with a highly successful biotech company (of sorts). She analyzes applications to determine a person's fit in a particular field or educational environment.

But when she comes across one applicant it triggers the system. There must be a mistake! Nope… this applicant is so off the charts there is no way to classify him other than by Profile K. A one-of-a-kind profile the company never expected to use.

Prepare for one of the scariest, most evil serial killers you’ll ever come across.

It’s up to Midnight (who has a twin sister Dawn - don’t you love that?) to bring down this killer before he strikes again.

We have a cameo from Dr. Connie Woolwine, a world renowned profiler, who has been in Helen Fields’ previous books. I love her character and have a feeling we’ll be seeing much more of her in the future!

This was a fabulous, suspenseful and gripping read classified as a stand-alone but does have a recurring character. No worries if you’ve missed her previous books, but Dr. Connie Woolwine’s character is worth the trip through Helen Fields’ backlog of books.

This is such a good book!!! It is a new take on killers and how an uncommitted crime is coming and how they knew it was coming. It was so fun to read this introspective take and the story that came along with it was great. It kept me hooked from the very beginning, i like it a lot!!

Truly exceptional writing bringing forth a very unique concept. The character development is also so interesting. Very twisty and a real nail-biter.

Midnight Jones is focused on her job at an omnipresent biotech company as a way to give her twin sister a good life. They are alone in the world after their parents have gone on a never ending vacation to escape the challenges of caring for Dawn.

Midnight reviews scores from testing - finding a disturbing profile (Profile K). As she delves into the details of Profile K, the company denies it's excistance. Midnight reaches out to coworkers, supervisors and the police.

The subject, Profile K, escalates his enjoyment by torturing women in a variety of methods. It is pretty insense and can get a little distrubing. As we learn about the Profile K individual, he learns of Midnight and the possibility she can id him. And so the race begins!

When Midnight comes across a 'Profile K' at her job as an analyst for a biotech company, she is shocked. When she brings this discovery to the attention of her superiors, she is dismissed, being told it is an error and no such profile exists. With 2 grisly murders occurring near her home, Midnight follows her instincts and follows the links between the murders and the profile she found. Naturally, this gets her into trouble at work. But, she persists, bringing herself and those she cares about, closer to the evil she uncovered.

This was gripping right from the beginning, with the first chapter being extremely chilling. I love creepy, gory stories, without going totally over the top, and this book fits that bill perfectly. I highly recommend, if like me, you love to be creeped out!

This book had a solid plot and an excellent hook that kept me reading. Interestingly, it wasn’t the characters that drew me in. While I couldn’t relate to any of them personally, they were fully developed and served the story well.

For me, it was the plot that truly shined. The way the author intricately wove the future of technology and medicine into the storyline was absolutely fascinating. It added a unique layer that set this book apart from other crime/mystery novels.

If you’re a fan of the crime or mystery genre, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try. It’s a great read with a fresh take on the genre!

This one started out slow for me, but gave me just enough to keep my attention until it got unputdownable. (Not sure if that is a word, but it should he if it isn't) The twists were in just the right places, and I felt satisfied and happy with the ending.

Gruesome murders are being committed too close to Midnight’s home. When she finds a few coincidences between her work and the killer’s activities, she just can’t get rid of the thought that these are not mere coincidences. Asking questions will increasingly draw her closer to danger, as well as endanger the people she loves. This was a very bloody and horrific story of murder. If this is the type of book you enjoy, you’ll surely love this one.

I read Profile K by Helen Fields last month and boy was it gripping. It’s a psychological thriller that dives deep into the ethical boundaries of technology and human nature, and it had me hooked from the very start.

After an interesting hook, the story moved a little slowly for me. Once I reached halfway, it really picked up the pace. Very suspenseful!

An excellent psychological thriller. Grabs ahold from the opening pages and doesnt release the deathgrip until the harrowing ending. The very fast paced story that flows incredibly smooth. The twists and turns will make you feel as though you have been on a rollercoaster.

Midnight Jones (superhero name, no biggie) works as a data analyst at a world-renowned biotech company that screens individuals for, say, university applications. But one day she comes across a data set that must surely be wrong… or is it? What seems like a system error is, in fact, the „Profile K“ (for killer) data of one particular applicant. And when a local woman is murdered, Midnight soon suspects that said applicant may be behind the gruesome killing - and she knows he won‘t stop.

„The Profiler“, which was previously published as „Profile K“, has everything you could ask for in a heart-stopping thriller: a strong, smart lead, a truly evil antagonist, and nail-biting tension, all packaged into a clever story and mixed in with some societal commentary. I flew through it in a day!

Word of warning: Helen Fields‘ books are quite dark, but well worth the sleepless nights, and once you start, you won‘t be able to stop.

a super engaging/ enjoyable thriller, i can’t wait to read more from this author!

This book sucked me in from the start, and I tore through it in days, Helen Fields is absolutely brilliant bringing The Profiler. The pace, the story, the twists and turns - I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. More than just being a stunning thriller she implements police procedurals throughout the novel that keep you wanting more.

Note: There are some graphic and gory scenes in the novel, it's not just a standard plain thriller.
