Sheryl Lisa Finn’s The Healing Anxiety Workbook is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to understand and address anxiety at its core. Unlike many self-help books that focus solely on symptom management, this workbook takes a holistic and deeply personal approach, guiding readers to explore the root causes of their anxiety while offering practical tools for healing.
One of the standout features of this book is its interactive nature. Through reflective writing exercises, guided meditations, movement practices, and even lineage exploration, Finn encourages readers to connect with themselves on a profound level. The inclusion of audio downloads adds an extra layer of support, making this more than just a workbook—it’s a fully immersive healing experience.
Finn’s writing is both compassionate and insightful, creating a safe space for readers to explore their fears, worries, and intrusive thoughts. Her approach fosters self-compassion and empowerment, helping individuals transform their relationship with anxiety rather than simply trying to suppress it.
For anyone seeking a deeper, more integrative path to mental wellness, The Healing Anxiety Workbook is a must-read. Whether you're struggling with chronic anxiety or looking to cultivate a greater sense of inner peace, this workbook provides the tools and guidance needed for true healing.

Just like any workbook, you can chose what is helpful for you and beneficial, and this was definitely the case for me. Personally, I find more benefit talking out my issues, anxiety, stress and annoyances with my therapist. He has recommended some good books that I use frequently. I have also mentioned a few to him, as well like "Overcoming Anticipatory Anxiety" by Sally Winston and Martin Seif. What a fantastic book! I definitely recommend this book.
The sections of the book were interesting: the unseen, the self and others. For the others (IMO) it is not helpful to bring in ancestors and distant relatives into your routine for self-care. I like the parts on daily meditation to calm your breathing WITHOUT bringing religion into it....
Again the meditation aspect helps. I also like the coloring aspect, actually. I do several adult coloring books for anxiety and ADHD and to de-stress. There is an adult coloring book that has curse words related about to the chaos of adult lives. It's humorous.
Overall, I felt this book was a miss. This definitely did not get to the root of MY ANXIETY. I do not judge others who found this book to be helpful. Everyone needs to find what works for them.
Just ok. Cannot recommend.

I personally really enjoyed this workbook as I am on my journey with having anxiety. I feel that these exercises would help me a lot and I look forward to applying them to my life. As a spiritual person I felt that the workbook resonated with me.
It would depend on whether someone is a spiritual person or at what level spiritually they are as to whether this book would be ideal.
'Love is stronger then fear, connection is stronger than anxiety'
Connection is safety
Connection is trust
When you're held in trust, you feel safe.
Since anxiety is fundamentally the sense of feeling unsafe, connection is the remedy.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me a copy of this amazing book to review.

Yes this is a workbook. But to me this isn’t like any other workbook you’ll find. I say this because it is so much easier to understand then your traditional marker workbook that stems around anxiety. This is simple but also not too simple that you would find it boring. I quite enjoyed it and it had sometimes a little audio scan code you can do to hear the exercises as you read them which I found really helpful. I quite enjoyed it and may end up using some of the exercises when I need to.

I was given an advanced copy by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I have read many books on anxiety over the years and this one really resonated. It got me thinking in new ways and from angles I hadn’t thought of before.
The heart of the workbook is that connection is the antidote to anxiety. It explores these connections in many ways with practical concrete strategies to try. It was thought-provoking and allowed me to really ponder the root of a lot of my anxieties as well as offered a path to working towards healing.
I recommend this book for anyone who is has anxiety and wants to examine it further. This book left me feeling hopeful.

This was a well written self-help anxiety guide that I found very helpful and engaging. I recommend reading!

This works better in a paper edition but I loved it. It was a great help now that I have anxiety, full of activities and an amazing guide to be yourself again. I'm going to buy it so I can write on it and do it all over again.

The book's concept is unique, I’ve never seen an approach to anxiety like this before.
What I like:
• Brief and clear explanations of what anxiety is, easy to understand, The examples are enlightening.
• The tone is gentle, not offhand. The author doesn’t label you as ’sick’ for being mentally damaged and focuses on self-awareness to uncover the hidden reasons for one’s current state. It is said that the reason for anxiety is disconnection – from ourselves, the environment, or other people. So, the book tries to encourage reconnection. The main idea is fine, but I believe that for this to be truly useful, more books should be read on the topic (CBT, etc.).
• Short chapters: the title of each one is informal, so it’s easy to conclude what the topic will be.
• It’s easy to see through the book’s structure. The pages are pleasant to look at.
• This IS a workbook with many tasks to be done. All of them vary, so you won’t get bored by getting through them. A few examples: journaling prompts, self-awareness tests, connecting with trees and animals, dancing, family recipes, working with dreams, drawing, etc.
• Short read, doesn’t take many hours away from you.
• There’s no toxic positivity.
Negatives:
• Too little explanation and text, it’s more like scratching the tip of the iceberg. You won’t receive a deeper understanding without more books about anxiety.
• It might be triggering to some that the author calls the digital detox day sabbath.
• It’s way too culture-specific for a workbook. Things like sitting together with a stone, making friends with a tree, and asking for guidance from the ancestors are traditional for some, but for others, it might be too much to handle.
• Some of the available bonuses for the book are embedded in the book as QR codes, which will take you to some main page, and from there, you must find them yourself. The other bonus is a podcast, which can’t be found among the bonuses, but you have the code in the book.

As someone who struggles with severe anxiety, this book has really helped me. I have tried so many things to help manage it, but the techniques in this book have been the most effective so far. This book is really amazing!

This guide supports readers to connect to self, connect with others and connect to the world. The book includes checklists of strategies and places for readers to reflect on their mental health journey.

I love the layout of this book, it was simple to read and it felt like a breeze. It felt like something I will be able to use in practice

Most self-help books leave me feeling more anxious than when I started reading. I don't find the answers that I think would help me personally. I suffer from OCD and Anxiety so my thoughts and feelings feel so much more complex than most people can imagine.

This workbook is super helpful and I look forward to getting copies for members of my family. I like how the book is structured and the prompts and explanations about dealing and healing anxiety. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was vey helpful for me to use with my clients. We would use some worksheets in session and I would also give them homework to work on specific tasks between sessions.
The worksheets were very easy to use and supplemented our sessions.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for additional tools.

This workbook is great. As someone who deals with anxiety, I got great tips about how to ground myself in different areas of my life. Sheryl Lisa Flynn, MD calls these areas The Tree of Life. This is then broken down into three areas: The Unseen, Self, and Others and breaks down how to find things within these areas that you can focus on.

Publishing on March 18 2025 with Sounds True Publishing
I loved the fresh take of Sheryl Lisa Finn. I have read many books regarding this topic and this is one of my favourites.
I enjoyed that with the information given so you not only can think a different way but also put exercises to go along the way for you to see for yourself ways to put in practice what works for you. The part the stood out the most was that of "Connection." Such a simply yet varying of meanings. While reading this and working my way through I saw truths I hadn't thought of before and something that could be real change happen. This is book I will be getting and having on my shelf for years to come.

I really enjoyed working through this book. It offered a great opportunity to pause and reflect, which allowed me to reconnect with my thoughts and goals. It was refreshing to take the time to slow down, reflect, and reframe my mindset in a meaningful way.

This is a good place to get ideas. Not everything will applicable to everyone but I feel everyone can self reflect with this resource and also can get a good idea or two from this workbook.
