I really enjoyed the humorous elements to the plot in addition to the mystery. This book had all the same qualities that I loved about the first book in the series. I would definitely read more from this author in the future.

I received an ARC copy from Net Galley! This is my honest feedback.
I immediately was sucked in in the first chapter due to the banter, humor, wit, and characters that immediately came to life. Then the stakes are introduced, and they are high enough for you to care and be interested, but the main character is genuinely hilarious.
I LOVE the island setting and the coworker setting and so this book was fun for the island setting. I loved the conflict that came with it, but the spicy scenes were also amazing. I inhaled this one and I’ll be recommending it to my friends and other readers as this is a good one. I can’t stop thinking about it.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this!

Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!
Two friends go on the trip of a lifetime, to help one of them break through their writer’s block, and meet some very unfortunate circumstances causing them to reexamine their relationship.
This was a really fun read! I enjoyed and rooted for the characters, appreciated the mix of real world and wilder experiences and loved traveling to a new part of the world via this story. It also encouraged me to more deeply consider the impacts of my travel to the local communities. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes rom coms, mystery and/or travel stories.

An enjoyable read overall. I felt like the main character lacked a clear voice, and the love interest’s constant flirting with other people didn’t make me root for them.
I could never fully picture the characters in my head—more physical descriptions would have served readers well.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc!

Okay, so I loved this overall. It started strong, there was definitely a lull in there for like the second quarter, but overall it had my attention throughout. I loved the anti-colonial nature of the story, but also that it was not directly representative of the states or England because that is everywhere in books. The FMC was flawed but not beyond redemption, and the pacing, particularly in the second half, kept me reading past my bedtime to finish it. I loved that the (sort of) antagonist was a badass woman, and I loved the forced reflexivity of the characters. I loved that it was a book that requires you to suspend reality but also digs into the deep flaws with western colonialist capitalism because this world needs that. Totally here for it. Thank you St. Martin's Press for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

"Here for a Good Time" by Pyae Moe Thet War is a fun rom-com set in Myanmar that follows two best friends as they find their way to love.
Poe Myat Sabe is an up-and-coming author whose first book is being turned into a Netflix film. She suffers from second-book syndrome and is struggling with writer's block. She shares her apartment with her childhood best friend, Zwe. Lately, she has neglected him, and she decides that the solution to both her writer’s block and their strained friendship is a two-week getaway to an exclusive island resort. The plot thickens when the resort is taken over by a group of masked women, forcing them to run for their lives.
I loved the combination of romance and action. The book started slow, but it gained momentum after the heist. I usually prefer the enemies-to-lovers trope, but I do enjoy friends-to-lovers at times, and I love the vacation-gone-wrong trope. I liked the interactions between the couple and how miscommunication contributed to misunderstandings.
I also appreciated that the lead characters were Asian, and that the author refuted the misconception that Asian parents don’t support their children’s dreams. However, it took me a while to realize the story was set in Myanmar and not England. Additionally, Poe tended to go on and on about her writer’s block, her drafts, and how much she cares for Zwe, but he doesn’t seem to share her feelings.
Poe and Zwe are complete opposites. She loves books; he loves numbers. He helps his parents run their bookstore, where she also signs her book. They’ve both dated other people, but nothing ever worked out. He is all about numbers and logic; she is driven by emotions. He has always held a steady job, while she is an artist—more of a dreamer and spontaneous. I guess "opposites attract" is true.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. The writing and humor made it an entertaining read. It was a bit predictable, as most rom-coms are, but it still had its twists. I liked the couple and rooted for them. I’d recommend this book to fans of the genre who don’t mind slow-burn romance and enjoy a bit of action in their love stories.
* Thank you NetGalley and (publisher) for the opportunity to read this arc. All opinions are my own.

This book was much better than I anticipated, to be honest. I was thinking it would simply be a fun little romance about best friends finally seeing what’s right in front of them, as that’s how it was billed. But it turned out to be a much more involved story, especially the intrigue of the armed women and also the complexity of the relationship between Poe and Zwe. I dug it. 💜📚

I have to say I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This book was better than I thought it was going to be. It started off slow but then it got way better.
This book is a nice romance story with a slow burn. A writer had what every writer is afraid of, writers block! After her book became a hit and got offered a Netflix deal, the pressure of her fans and agent wanting a book 2, she could come up with anything. She tried millions of new hobbies to get the creative juices flowing… but nothing!
Finally on impulse, she books a 2 week retreat on a remote island with her best friend. Nothing could go wrong right?! When people try to take over the resort, will love be enough to save the day, will it be enough for the story of her dreams?!

I have never in my life experienced such a profound lack of urgency when being surrounded/chased by armed assailants. I guess that's where this one lost me, but there is also the fmc's consuming sense of self importance. That was...bracing.

First off, thank you NetGalley for an ARC e-copy.
This is such a cool premise that was just so much fun reading through. The book started out really good, I could not put it down and I was reading through it so fast. Then, when the female group overtook the resort, that’s when it slowed down is pace a lot. At this point, I wasn’t as drab into the story/plot. It picked up pace about 50% through and then I flew through the remainder of the book.
I enjoyed the conclusion and how they progressed the story along. It was super fun, upbeat book that had you looking forward to what happened next.
Thank you again, NetGalley for the advanced e-copy!

I was really excited to read this book but sadly it fell a little flat for me. It was hard to get really invested into the characters and parts of the story were disjointed a bit. Great premise just wasn't my favorite

started off promising but lacked the conviction and vision to justify a full length novel. i really wanted to like this one, because bffs to lovers is my favourite trope but i sort of feel like the portrayal was very lukewarm and off handed. decent read, but nothing sticks out after you close it.

Immediate 5 stars. What a joy of a book to read. The romance is to die for and it was heartwarming to see it bloom. This was everything.
A special thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for a ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Started out with an interesting premise and engaging characters but the middle of the book dragged a bit and I found the FMC to be a bit annoying at times. Cute ending but nothing stood out to me about this book.

There were so many times where I thought this would be a DNF for me but then the author would bring me back in only to lose me again a few pages later. I liked a lot about this book, including the heist aspect and friends to lovers but the good was met with a lot of cringe. The incessant mentioning of the protagonists book exhausted me & the resolution to the heist was wildly unrealistic. If the whole “I’m struggling to write my book” story line was eliminated & the author had gone a different route with how things ended with the heist, I think I would’ve liked it a lot more. Overall, a lot of it felt unrealistic to the point that it took me out of the story & had me rolling my eyes. That being said, I did like the characters and the author’s writing style and will definitely give her a try in the future. I just don’t think this was the story for me.

Thanks so much for this ARC. This was my first book by an author from Myanmar. I really did not know much about the country and its culture besides its involvement in the genocide of the Rohingya community. I would not categorize this book as a true Romance. it was definitely a slow burn and I would not say that I particularly enjoyed it unfortunately.
this book follows two best friends who go on vacation together, and the main conflict is that the girl has been a bad friend to the boy, which I feel makes her really unlikable and I didn’t feel like this issue was really redeemed or appropriately addressed. Very little actual romance. It also took me a long time to figure out that the book did not actually take place in California

This book was very cute - I always enjoy a best friends to lovers/opposites attract romance. The writing was great, the story kept my interest, would recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! The plot was engaging and full of twists that kept me hooked until the very end. The characters were well-developed and relatable, and I found myself really connecting with their journeys. The pacing was just right, balancing action with moments of reflection. However, there were a few areas where I felt certain storylines could have been explored a bit more deeply. Despite that, the book offered a memorable experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a thought-provoking read!

Really LOVED this!!
I thought the writing was sharp and witty, and I enjoyed the overarching story line, not your run of the mill romance novel plot. The way the dialogue was written really scratched my brain
*just right*
Cons: the singular open door scene was unnecessary & the pop culture references….. ugh. Each time it threw me out of the book.
Super fun though... will definitely be purchasing a physical copy when this comes out!

the journey was gradual and felt compatible with what these characters should be experiencing. The amount of doors the author Pyae opened and closed in each chapter and scene really kept me hooked to a book I didn't know I would finish.
