This book contains 52 cocktails, one for each Friday night - although I did not wait til Friday before giving these a try. These cocktails use easy ingredients and this book provides recipes to make syrups and tips and tricks for all your cocktail needs.
I am definitely purchasing this for the cocktail lovers in my life.
Thank you to Netgalley and The Collective Book Studio for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
This was a great cocktail recipe book! There were tons of classics and also new drinks and also classics with a twist to them! I tried out a few recipes and they were all simple yet tasted great! I like them!!
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complementary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!
This book is exactly what it says. Drink recipes for the whole year, split into seasons. The variety is wonderful, and the fact that every drink has a variation gives a 2 for 1 feel. The preface gives a nice history of the cocktail, as well as an equipment list and explanation. A number of specialty ingredients have recipes or tips found within the book.
The photography is lovely, and all of the drinks pictured look amazing.
My husband and I tried the Hot Toddy, Espresso Martini, Cranberry Mule (virgin and full blast), Hot Buttered Rum, Irish Coffee, Lemon Drop, Gin and Tonic (a classic), and Mojito. (Not all in one night, it was December, there were holiday parties). We found the recipes easy to follow and all turned out nicely.
The downside is that the ingredients list is extensive. To make all of the drinks in the book does require some investment. There are a number of fancier drinks that use very specific liqueurs or flavoured bitters that may be difficult to find. Some are given substitutes, but some are not.
Definitely a book to check out if you'd like to up your cocktail game, or just learn how to make some of the classics.
I read this book as a free digital offering through NetGalley.
I am OBSESSED with this cocktail recipe book.
It starts by giving a history of cocktails, followed by defining different barware and glassware that might not be in the average person's vocabulary.
But the best part? The drinks are separated into SEASONS! As someone who's year is run by the seasons and not the days on the calendar, I was immediately charmed. On top of beautifully shot images of the drinks and a stylish layout? I'm obsessed.
I'm not a big drinker, but when I'm in the mood for changing it up from my usual diet coke and Tito's, I WILL be turning to the recipe book.
If you love a good cocktail to kick off the weekend (and really, who doesn’t?), *Friday Night Cocktails* is the perfect guide. The book is all about creating a little ritual at the end of the workweek to signal that it’s time to relax and unwind. The cocktails are simple yet sophisticated, made with ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen.
My husband and I have started using it for our date night drink-making sessions. One night, we tried the Blood Orange Margarita, and it was such a refreshing twist on a classic. It’s the perfect way to say goodbye to the workweek and hello to the weekend, all while sipping something delicious. The recipes are easy to follow, so we don't feel like we're spending our entire evening just trying to get the drinks right.
Whether you're a gin & tonic fan or up for trying a new twist on your favorite, *Friday Night Cocktails* is like the drinkable way to wind down. Cheers to that!
This was a fun quick read - would be a great coffee table book. The concept is a cocktail every Friday for the whole year. Cocktails are seasonally appropriate and group by fall, winter, spring and summer. There are a lot of little recipes for drink components like syrups and garnishes in between recipes, some drink tips like common mix ups people make regarding cocktails, as well as some fun history surrounding each drink. This is a great gift for any home bartender!
Thanks Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the ARC.
MMM YEAA THIS IS THE ONE RIGHT HERE!!! This book is absolutely perfect for girls' night, my girls and I love to try new drinks, so this book is perfect for us. I love how clean and aesthetically pleasing it looks. I also love how the recipes are written they are very easy to follow.
This stylish little book is perfect as a gift for any cocktail lover… The concept: 52 weeks of Friday cocktails to unwind with after a hard week at work, arranged by seasonal vibes. Beautiful photography and simple recipes without too many ingredients (but with variations to try and advice on substitutes) really set this book apart.
I appreciate the chance to read a digital review copy - thanks NetGalley - and LOVE that the publisher is women-owned! I have bought a physical copy for my a secret Santa recipient and I hope they love it.
This book presents 52 cocktails, one for each Friday of the year, that use common ingredients, are easy to make, and allow for variations. The author starts by briefly introducing the different barware and glassware items that can be used. Then it's time for the cocktail recipes, organised by season. Some are classic cocktails (amaretto sour, Kir Royale, hot toddy, gin and tonic, etc.) while others such as the pumpkin pie cocktail or the clementine wallbanger are less well known. In addition to the cocktail recipes, the author provides tips throughout the book, such as how to dry citrus, alongside recipes for ingredients such as pomegranate syrup or peach-raspberry purée. Each recipe tells you which type of glass is needed and provides the ingredients and recipe, alongside a suggestion of garnish and a possible variation.
This book is clearly made to be looked at every week and its stunning photographs make this a beautiful coffee table book. I love the art deco look!
A recommended read for cocktail lovers.
