Description

Friday Night Cocktails says, “The workweek is over. The weekend is full of chores and activities. Right now I just want to take a moment for myself. Let’s have a cocktail!”

Friday Night Cocktails is for 30-somethings and, really, anyone who’s interested in a well-made but not fussy homemade mixed drink. The 52 cocktails (plus numerous variations) are made with common ingredients that readers can easily stock up on and keep at hand. Importantly, the focus of the book is “cocktail as ritual” - a recognition that the transition from the workweek to the weekend should be celebrated. Rituals help us define beginnings and endings. And what better way to close the door on the week and welcome the weekend with open arms than with a chilled cocktail?

The drinks include old stand-bys (e.g., Gin & Tonic) as well as new takes on the standards (e.g., Blood Orange Margarita). The message throughout is “Try something new, but be mindful of the tried-and-true.” Friday Night Cocktails is your invitation to slow down and take a moment for yourself.

This book presents 52 cocktails, one for each Friday of the year, that use common ingredients, are easy to make, and allow for variations. The author starts by briefly introducing the different barware and glassware items that can be used. Then it's time for the cocktail recipes, organised by season. Some are classic cocktails (amaretto sour, Kir Royale, hot toddy, gin and tonic, etc.) while others such as the pumpkin pie cocktail or the clementine wallbanger are less well known. In addition to the cocktail recipes, the author provides tips throughout the book, such as how to dry citrus, alongside recipes for ingredients such as pomegranate syrup or peach-raspberry purée. Each recipe tells you which type of glass is needed and provides the ingredients and recipe, alongside a suggestion of garnish and a possible variation.

This book is clearly made to be looked at every week and its stunning photographs make this a beautiful coffee table book. I love the art deco look!

A recommended read for cocktail lovers.

This stylish little book is perfect as a gift for any cocktail lover… The concept: 52 weeks of Friday cocktails to unwind with after a hard week at work, arranged by seasonal vibes. Beautiful photography and simple recipes without too many ingredients (but with variations to try and advice on substitutes) really set this book apart.

I appreciate the chance to read a digital review copy - thanks NetGalley - and LOVE that the publisher is women-owned! I have bought a physical copy for my a secret Santa recipient and I hope they love it.

This was a fun quick read - would be a great coffee table book. The concept is a cocktail every Friday for the whole year. Cocktails are seasonally appropriate and group by fall, winter, spring and summer. There are a lot of little recipes for drink components like syrups and garnishes in between recipes, some drink tips like common mix ups people make regarding cocktails, as well as some fun history surrounding each drink. This is a great gift for any home bartender!

Thanks Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the ARC.
