I loved this book. What a beautiful book to help you truly focus on honing in on gratitude. On being thankful, on being in awe of God's creation and splendor. A great devotional to read weekly throughout the year.
Sunrise, Sunset is a beautiful and inspirational book to keep with you at all times. I may buy a copy to myself to add to my personal library soon!
Pros: I wanted to like this book so much, but it just doesn't do it for me. Some of the best authors, motivational speakers, and the like had something to say, but most of it did not resonate with me. I was rooting for this book because I noticed some of my favorites like Lisa, Jack, and Judith, but it missed the mark overall.
Cons: After the first few pages, I was beginning to wonder, how many ways can one say that they love the sunrise/sunset. The pictures were mediocre at best, and the messages are lost in the affirmations.
I enjoyed the book and really liked it. Refreshing photoes of sunrises and sunsets. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc
Really beautiful pictures, although I felt that the quality wasn't very good, but maybe it's because this is only an ARC copy. All the pictures are accompanied by quotes from people in the author's life, and though they didn't resonate with me, maybe they will with you.
A great book to read a page a day.
I downloaded this little book out of curiosity more than anything, it’s a beautiful, inspirational book with lovely quotes and paragraphs giving gratitude and appreciation for the world we live in. The pictures are so colourful and pleasing to look at. A beautiful and thank you for the copy.
Thank you HCI Publications and Netgalley for an ARC in return of my honest review.
I rate this book 3.5 stars.
This book 52 weeks of inspiration would be a great weekly planner. It has nice photographs and is accompanied by different peoples thoughts, poems and feelings about sunrises and sunsets.
Many of the written pieces are very thought provoking and a lovely reminder of life’s impermanence.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this lovely book.
I try to meditate each morning to clear my head and get a good start on the day. The photographs in this book were amazing and great to look at in those times of serenity and meditation. I will be sharing this book with my grandmother who used to live in southern Florida and misses it everyday.
Most appropriately titled, there is no question as to the contents of this literary piece. Kim Weiss' elegant contribution to arts and photography graced the screen of my 'Tablet' with a collection of breathtaking pictures accompanied by an anthology of spiritual passages. Pictures galore, the book was delightfully inundated with glorious, life-fulfilling sunrises and mesmerizing sunsets. If there was a plot to this prose, I'd offer that it was the deep appreciation for the gift of life on this wondrous planet. One day at a time, we pay tribute to the god of creation on this rocky planet - our Sun.
I offer my thanks to NetGalley and HCI Books for this digital edition in exchange for an unbiased review.
Good book of sunrise and sunset photos with inspirational quotes and poems. A great coffee table book for casual reading for meditation and inspiration after a tough day. I love the beautiful pictures.
it's a a beautiful book with those photographs. poems and quotes were added to them. My favorite photo was on page 82 because it reminds me of hope through the storm. Most of the photos were beautiful. Some could've been better. I received this ARC through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
What charming book that arose from sharing photos of vivid and glorious sunrises and sunsets.
Bringing those pictures into a book you have a weekly calendar of photographs with words, poems inspired by witnessing these magical events.
Now you have colour filling your mind through eyes of wonder and discernment in reading other people’s word profound and reflective.
You get the since of new beginnings with the gift of each new day and closure as the sun slips majestically below the horizon. To be thankful for a day of toil and labour with the promise to perhaps do better the next time the sun heralds a new day.
Words capture your sense of wonder and the spiritual dimension whether with religious belief or in praise of nature.
One can not help but feel insignificant in a universe where one star, our sun provides warmth, light and the opportunity for life.
A book you will want to return to time and time again, a set of photos that will recall times you have witnessed the colours and warmth of a sunrise or held a loved one as the sunset.
Wonderful book. Weiss takes readers on a one year journey of gratitude and relaxation. With the beautiful and uniques sunsets and sunrises complemented by thoughtful quotes, readers are truly able to appreciate the beauty found in this book.
What a beautiful and inspiring combination! It's the kind of book we all love, as we return to it again-and-again, each time gaining the gift of inspired revelation.
Gorgeous photography and inspirational messages give a boost to one’s psyche! 5/5
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.
Beautiful pictures of sunsets and sunrises accompanied by inspirational words for each week of the year. Each one a meditation of its own. I loved this as a dual purpose picture book for my coffee table and/or inspirational affirmations for each week of the year. I LOVE IT!
This was a lovely book and I feel bad that I forgot to post my review for it. I love pictures of sunsets and I often take them of the wonderful view that we are blessed to have from our home. Many of the ones in the book reminded me of these.
A lovely book with some beautiful photographs, to inspire you, to motivate you, and to make you stop and think.
Buy this book and leave it on your coffee table for your own quiet moments and for guests who enjoy the perfect mix of photography and thought provoking words;
SUNRISE SUNSET is exactly what the title declares, a photography book of sunrises and sunsets taken over the course of a year by Kim Weiss. The words beside each photo come from a collection of her friends' and family's responses on social media. Weiss is donating a portion of the proceeds from this book to Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA). The photographs are phenomenal.
This is a very beautiful and calming book. I love the photography and the quotes.
