Description
The same vista. Never the same sun.
Much like life, the stage changes even when our vantage point doesn't. And so it is with the rising and setting sun, no two are ever the same.
Every picture tells another color, shape and shadow story . . . whatever unfolds each day reveals the diversity and beauty of life. Birds, insects, reptiles, trees, sandy shores—all thrive under the majesty of the sun.
Weiss offers all of this as a show of gratitude, a tribute to the awe of each new day. Sunrise Sunset is replete with glorious photographs of different days and different suns captured from the very same vantage point, the very same terrace.
Complementing her photographs are meditations, passages, poetry, reflections and contemplations from some of the bestknown and loved inspirational leaders of our time: Jack Canfield, Marci Shimoff, M.J. Rose, Arielle Ford, Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr., Richard Bandler, Lisa McCourt, Betsey Chasse and many more.
This is the ultimate gift book for saying 'thank you', sharing a blessing or offering an oasis for spiritual awakening. From sunrise to sunset, this will be a perennial bestseller.
A Note From the Publisher

As beautiful as it is moving and as moving as it is wondrous. Weiss reminds-us all of the magic of things that happen everyday and that all to often we take for granted.

I was fortunate to receive this book from NetGalley and the Publisher before it has been released. The release date for the book is October 14, 2014. You can pre-order it on Amazon.
The book will be a great coffee table book for any home. It is 52 pictures of Sunrises or Sunsets along with some meditative prose for each picture. The pictures are very good, the thoughts that are shared are good reflective thoughts.
I love looking at a good Sunrise or a great Sunset and think that Kim Weiss has grabbed those pictures with a heartfelt appreciation for God’s creation.
I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I have.
a beautiful book which could be picked up ,looked at, read and re-read numerous times. Glorious, calming photographs showing the pure beauty of sunrise and sunset, thought evoking poems, passages and contemplations.. A wonderful book. which i feel priviledged to have read.
Pretty photos and inspirational words of encouragement or thoughts of what sunrise or sunsets mean to people. Good stuff.
During the spring and summer I see fabulous sunsets from the beach, two minutes walk from my home. The sun sets behind the islands of the inner Hebrides, turning the sea to molten gold. But from late August on, thanks to the progression of our planet around the sun, it sets behind the headland, out of sight.
Luckily, I came across this beautiful book - Sunrise, Sunset: 52 Weeks of Awe & Gratitude which has the most gorgeous photographs of the sun rising and falling in the Floridian sky.
Designed to offer inspiration for a full year, I found myself hungrily going from one page to the next, keen to devour each painted sky. The talented photographer, Kim Weiss, has captured a rich variety of skies, no two the same yet each with the familiarity of a shared memory. She has managed to capture the magnificence and awe of our beautiful sky.
The second time I opened the book I took the time to read the words accompanying each photograph. There are poems, anecdotes and meditation suggestions from an impressive variety of authors, counsellors, coaches and spiritual leaders. No one religion is favoured and I loved the inclusiveness of the contributors. Some of their words moved me more than others - of course they did - but there is merit in each contribution. My favourite words are from Joanne McCall and they accompany a photograph of a dawn sky, striated by candy clouds.
Mindfulness is becoming a popular practice for the 21st century and this little book would be a beautiful source of images and words to prompt one’s daily meditation.
Recommended.
What a wonderful project this book is! This is the kind of book, I’d like to delve into now and then to be inspired and feast my eyes. The pictures are fantastic and you already know how I lap up affirmations and inspirational quotes. Absolutely my kind of book!
Outstanding photography sets the tone of this collection of inspirational pictures and words. It would be a great gift for anyone who appreciates the beauty of a new day.
I know I will look at this a million times and love it more each time.
I never really realized how beautiful a sunset or a sunrise was until I saw this book.
The photos are breathtaking. They really capture the beauty.
Uplifting and well done, the photos are the star here. A lovely book to look at again and again.
What a lovely book - I'm not really into inspirational books but this is lovely - the photographs are just stunning. I really did know the skies could ever look like this. The words are quite good too - memories of the past and thoughts for the future sparked by these glorious skies. The colours are so inspiring that has made me think of experimenting with the colours in my fibre art.
What a beautiful collection of inspiring quotes and images. I am always in awe of the sunrise and sunset and the author captures the sun perfectly. Would be a fantastic gift for someone in need of a bit of positive inspiration.
Stunning photography and wonderful uplifting poetry and prose. It is a calming, lovely read, something to have on a bedside table or to curl up and read when needing hope, solace, comfort or encouragement.
An unusual and beautiful concept, I'm so pleased to have been given the chance to read and review it. I think it would make a wonderful gift.
Review posted on my blog.
Kim Weiss is a sunny lady living in South Florida and everytime she looked at a sunset, took a picture of it. Same with a dawn, sharing these artistic, natural creations with her Facebook's community.
After a while some of hr friends suggested her of creating a book with all these wonderful pictures. A pity not sharing them with a largest public.
The idea of Sunrise Sunset was born!
Everyone know my big attractions for sunsets and dawns and when I discovered on netgalley.com this book I wanted to see it so badly, loving it a lot, for the calming pictures, beautiful colors, inspiring words and phrases that will follow every page and every picture of a sunset or a dawn. Like to be in Paradise.
Dawns and sunsets in Florida are simply spectaculars. The author has been in grade to photograph beautiful red, yellow, colored sunsets, and stunning dawns.
Nature, we all know, is better than the best painter of this world.
The idea of not putting just pictures but accompanying them with words, I imagine, for giving a strongest visual and emotive message to the picture visualized in that moment. In this sense, Kim has been helped by a team of creative friends all mentioned in the book.
Encouragement, gratitude, you will discover thanks to these pictures and these phrases, a spiritual trip and always a different gradation of feelings "reading" between the pictures and phrases close to it.
Published by Health Communications Inc. I strongly suggest this delicate, felt, relaxing book.
Part of money of this book goes to an association called AVA.

Sunrise, Sunset reminded me of the summers that I spent on the St. Lawrence River. There I saw the most amazing sunsets. I haven't been in a few years and this book brought back all of those memories. Beautiful pictures with short reflections and poetry. Perfect coffee table book.
OK I admit i did not read the description
THROUGH before requesting this book
i thought i was getting a book of cool
photography
BUT
i got a book full of sappy-ness
so i will grade this book on the
photography
which was stunning
and not comment on the
parts i just cannot read
When the sun is setting is my favorite time of the day, when the light of the day becomes slowly extinguished to give in to the glorious glisten of the cosmos above.
This book offers a collection of photos, capturing either a sunrise or a sunset, accompanied with some words. That's the part I liked the most - the text next to a photo, as I am kind of a quote addict.
Nice work on the book, although I would have preferred if the photos had a bit higher resolution.
I was blown away when I opened this book. There are not many books that have this ability as it is a SUPERB combination of text and illustrations. It is my choice of an essential coffee table book. Once you start you have a compulsion to continue, Kim you have hit the mark dead centre.
I enjoyed the author putting that personal touch in the beginning about what her mother and her did when she was young. I also like the quotes that when along with each picture. I think my favorites are on pages 11, 49 and 97.
Stunning book of 52 sunrise/sunset photos. Also included are poetry, personal thoughts, gentle advice, and shirt stories from different inspirational authors. This book has a very calming effect whether you just look at the pictures or actually read it. The pictures are stunning. The book can give you a whole new outlook on each day and an end to each as well. Whether it has been a good day or bad. It basically helps you feel grateful for the lessons learned that day. That each day is beautiful in its own way as well as being a gift. At least this is my take on the book.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.
Beautiful photographs with though inspiring quotes and messages.
Sunrise, Sunset: 52 Weeks of Awe and Gratitude by Kim Weiss is filled with BEAUTIFUL photographs of (you guessed it!) sunrises and sunsets, each paired with a personal writing from a variety of people as to what they think of when viewing sunrises and sunsets. Each describes how the sunrise/sunset reminds them of their place in the greater world and how they gain perspective and peace from these extraordinary events that occur each day, but which most of us take for granted and don't even think about.
This would make a wonderful gift or coffee table book. Well done!
Many thanks to NetGalley and HCI Books for allowing me the privilege of reading this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
This is a beautiful book. The colors and quality of the photographs are stunning and the quotations are wise, inspiring and thought-provoking. I am purchasing several to give as holiday gifts this year.
The pictures and quoatations are gorgeous. This book can help to meditate at the start of the day. Excellent!
I voluntarily read a digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
This book captivated me. The pictures are breathtaking. Stunning.
The poems attached to the pictures add weight to the gorgeous photos.
I love the idea of trying to figure out which famous painter painted the sky each morning.
Every day is different, and should be appreciated. This book helps remind one to do so.
This is a very beautiful and calming book. I love the photography and the quotes.
SUNRISE SUNSET is exactly what the title declares, a photography book of sunrises and sunsets taken over the course of a year by Kim Weiss. The words beside each photo come from a collection of her friends' and family's responses on social media. Weiss is donating a portion of the proceeds from this book to Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA). The photographs are phenomenal.
A lovely book with some beautiful photographs, to inspire you, to motivate you, and to make you stop and think.
Buy this book and leave it on your coffee table for your own quiet moments and for guests who enjoy the perfect mix of photography and thought provoking words;
This was a lovely book and I feel bad that I forgot to post my review for it. I love pictures of sunsets and I often take them of the wonderful view that we are blessed to have from our home. Many of the ones in the book reminded me of these.
Beautiful pictures of sunsets and sunrises accompanied by inspirational words for each week of the year. Each one a meditation of its own. I loved this as a dual purpose picture book for my coffee table and/or inspirational affirmations for each week of the year. I LOVE IT!
Gorgeous photography and inspirational messages give a boost to one’s psyche! 5/5
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.
Wonderful book. Weiss takes readers on a one year journey of gratitude and relaxation. With the beautiful and uniques sunsets and sunrises complemented by thoughtful quotes, readers are truly able to appreciate the beauty found in this book.
it's a a beautiful book with those photographs. poems and quotes were added to them. My favorite photo was on page 82 because it reminds me of hope through the storm. Most of the photos were beautiful. Some could've been better. I received this ARC through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
Most appropriately titled, there is no question as to the contents of this literary piece. Kim Weiss' elegant contribution to arts and photography graced the screen of my 'Tablet' with a collection of breathtaking pictures accompanied by an anthology of spiritual passages. Pictures galore, the book was delightfully inundated with glorious, life-fulfilling sunrises and mesmerizing sunsets. If there was a plot to this prose, I'd offer that it was the deep appreciation for the gift of life on this wondrous planet. One day at a time, we pay tribute to the god of creation on this rocky planet - our Sun.
I offer my thanks to NetGalley and HCI Books for this digital edition in exchange for an unbiased review.
I try to meditate each morning to clear my head and get a good start on the day. The photographs in this book were amazing and great to look at in those times of serenity and meditation. I will be sharing this book with my grandmother who used to live in southern Florida and misses it everyday.
I downloaded this little book out of curiosity more than anything, it’s a beautiful, inspirational book with lovely quotes and paragraphs giving gratitude and appreciation for the world we live in. The pictures are so colourful and pleasing to look at. A beautiful and thank you for the copy.
