Well Rounded: From Childhood to Adult

I love how this book covers David’s dedication to being a practicing athlete to achieve his goals but also his personal life as well. It definitely acknowledged his high profile marriage to his famous wife but allowed him to shine as an athlete and well rounded human.

The illustrations showcased David in settings as a child and his individual expression including his tattoos. The images pulled you into the scenes.

I think this book is great for girls and boys that show athletic passion and big life goals. If they are consistent in their actions and set their minds to it they can achieve their dreams.

I received a free copy of this book from Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and Quarto Publishing Group-Frances Lincoln Children’s Books. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

I liked this a lot but I do think if you're writing about one of the most well known british footballer players in the world you can just say football instead of soccer. And just say boots instead of cleats. It just seemed a bit silly. I know these books are written in american english, but they're read across the world. And americans are the only ones who call it soccer...

Like all the books in Big People Little Dreams series this biography of David Beckham’s life gives a clear summary with wonderful illustrations.

I didn't know much about David Beckham beyond Manchester United and Posh Spice, so I was glad to have more of a view of his life and career!

Thanking Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, Fernando Martín, Quarto Publishing Group, and Netgalley for the sneak preview of this Children’s Picture Book. Read on for a review of this title.

My children and I have read and enjoyed quite a few of the little People, Big Dreams series. I generally admire the many facts that the books manage to impart, and the level at which they do so. By and large, the series is on to a winning formula although I was not overly enamored with this hero. Unlike other heroes, I did not find that there was any new information gleaned about Beckham that is not, and has not been, widely available.

The book starts with David’s humble beginnings in East London and takes the reader on a brief tour of the different clubs he played for, and now owns. There are several key achievements mentioned but it feels like they are very quickly glossed over. Whilst there is a mini cameo from his wife, Victoria, I would have expected to read more about his big wins, the dismal losses, the way he changed the boundaries of football stars with his modelling and brand ambassador work. I would have especially welcomed news of the fact that he returned to his home city to set up a football academy for young kids from similar backgrounds to his own.

It was a nice story, but it lacked any real depth. I was not a fan of the illustrations and thought there could have been a better likeness to Beckham and his ever-changing looks over the years. For a football mad child, I am not sure this book would satisfy the reader’s appetite. I found everything to be mediocre rather than spectacular and would probably go as far as to state this is my least favorite book of the series that I have read to date. Consequently, the book only earns a 3 out of 5 stars from me.

A picture book biography of professional soccer player David Beckham.

Beckham is a pretty recognizable name, but I don’t think I have ever heard much about his life story before. This was an interesting look at his life thus far for littles.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Who hasn’t heard of David Beckham, the legendary soccer player? A true marvel on the field, Beckham rose to the very top of the soccer world. While he’s traded playing for other exciting projects these days—like owning his very own soccer club in Miami—his passion for the sport hasn’t faded one bit.

But how did a little boy with big dreams become a global superstar? This wonderfully written book tells David Beckham’s inspiring story, from his early days practicing tirelessly in his neighborhood to his rise as one of the most famous soccer players in history. It’s a fantastic read for kids who love sports, dreams, and learning about real-life heroes.

The book is easy to follow and packed with fun facts about Beckham’s life and career. It’s also a great way to show young soccer fans what hard work, determination, and passion can achieve. A perfect gift for any future soccer star! ⚽

I’m excited about the book titled David Beckham! The story and illustrations are informative yet engaging. The author, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, does an excellent job summarizing David Beckham’s career. The book is just long enough to keep a child’s interest and isn’t bogged down with mundane details. I plan on buying a hard copy of this book and keeping it in my EL classroom. My students come from all over the world and most of them are interested in football (soccer). I’m a soccer fan myself, so sometimes the sport is the only “language” we have in common. Also, they’re going to love seeing Messi in this book!
Thank you Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Little People, Big Dreams books are a staple in my classroom. These books tell the stories of incredible people in a way that little people can read and digest. This version about David Beckham is no different. This book tells the 'story' of David Beckham and his life. This tells his story from his childhood all the way until now. A truly inspirational book for children and adults alike, especially those small friends who want to play soccer.

My son and I have always loved this series of 'Little people, big dreams'. It's a mini biography of the amazing people who has changed the world. My son has throughly enjoyed David beckham book, since he loves football. It shows, that when you put your mind to it and with hard work you will succeed in everything you do in life. Such a lovely well written book. The illustrations are always beautiful.

This is an excellent book and a lovely retelling of David Beckham's life for children!

My only thing was that it said soccer. I hope this is changed to football when this book is released in the UK!

A new addition to the Little People Big Dreams series. I was surprised to realise there hasn't been a book on David Beckham before this point, so I was keen to read it. Unfortunately I felt this one was a bit weak on the storytelling, it seemed to only cover his football and marriage, and didn't touch on the humanitarian work Beckham does (although the extended write up at the back does mention it). I also appreciate this is an American series, but the use of US terms for football and associated kit did irritate when talking about an English legend! It was however beautifully illustrated as usual.

This is one of the cutest books in the series. The pictures are adorable, and the text is perfect for small children. What an inspiring story of a little boy who worked hard and practiced so he could play on his favorite team, only to grow up and be one of the greatest soccer players ever!
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

David Beckham, written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, is another children’s biography by Little People, BIG DREAMS. Illustrated by Fernando Martin, this biography features bright images from Beckham’s life. This book includes information about his early teams, playing for Man U, for England and his later teams, as well as a timeline of his life. A great little book for football fans.
