A beautiful book that is narrated in a very-well rhyming and flowing poem that celebrates being Black and empowers Black children, especially boys.
Thanks to its layers and general appeal, it is empowering for everyone.
The art style is fresh. As for the selected role models/examples/successful-influential Black people, I do not feel qualified to speak about them, though, objectively, it is diverse selection.
The book feels like an energy ball.
Quick Summary: A moving anthem for identity and life
My Review: Black Boy, Black Boy written by Angela Bowden and illustrated by Ibe Ananaba is a 2025 children's fiction release.
About the Book: "Black Boy, Black Boy celebrates self-love and identity for Black boys globally. Written by acclaimed author and poet Angela Bowden, this poignant spoken-word poem encourages young minds to embrace their cultural roots and identities, and to dream boundlessly."
In My Own Words: The rhythm of life, the motivation to aspire, a legacy of greatness, and the encouragement to BE - it is all found in this inspiring children's book.
My Final Say: This book was beautifully written and illustrated. The positive message being imparted was powerful and deep. From the sweet dedication to the ending message from Aunty Angela, young readers and their families will love it. I certainly do!
Other: This book would be an excellent addition to any library or classroom. I wish every young king could read it. I think it would be beneficial for seasoned kings, as well. The time for walking out of step with their true identity is over. This book uplifts just as much as it energizes. Let's go!
