In this book, nature has selected six tributes for her lethal trials. We follow Rosalind, one of the six, paired with a fae, Aalto.
I loved this book, especially the commentary on the trials as punishment for destroying nature. This commentary was done so well, and I love how it factors into the book as a whole.
I also loved the trials. The seven deadly sins are an interesting concept; I feel nobody uses them enough. This book uniquely showcased the seven deadly sins through the deadly trials, and I loved reading about them.
I also loved how Rosalind introduces us to the world of the fae. Learning about the world alongside the character makes world-building much more fun and easier to understand.
Oh my god, the banter between Aalto and Rosalind was so good. I love every single one of their interactions. I am genuinely so excited to see where this series leads!

This book has a fascinating premise, following Rosalind as she faces deadly trials tied to the seven deadly sins. Her partnership with Aalto, a mischievous Winter fae, adds an interesting dynamic to the story. The world of Eleria is imaginative and filled with intriguing details that make it easy to picture the fae realm.
Rosalind is a determined protagonist, but her choices can be frustrating at times, making it harder to connect with her journey. While her partnership with Aalto adds depth, her decisions during the trials often feel naive, which can take away from the tension and stakes. Despite this, her character shows potential for growth, leaving hope for more development in future installments. Fans of trial-based fantasy may still enjoy following her story.
We follow FMC, Rosalind, one of the six chosen human tributes to participate in Nature's trials. She gets paired with an attractive winter fae, Aalto. Rosalind distrust fae, so things will get interesting!
I am a sucker for trials, especially deathly ones, and human x fae tropes. So when I read the blurb, I knew that this book was for me.
Jade's writing is so beautifully written, so descriptive that you instantly get pulled in the story. The trials are so well-thought! I was really impressed! There is never a dull moment. The story is so gripping and action-packed. I wanted to read this book in one sitting, but real life, aka work, got in the way.
I did not expect that one plot twist at the end, though! My jaw dropped to the floor. I want more!
A huge thank you to Jade Ford for this arc!
This book is definitely for some people who are able to turn their brain off while reading, that’s not me. The premise was interesting enough, although many of the plot points felt unoriginal, and it wasn’t difficult to guess where the inspiration came from.
First of all, this book is too short to do what it needs to. I don’t care about anyone in this book, because there wasn’t enough time to get to know anybody. I really know nothing about the main character, the love interest, or any of the other tributes, they’re all kind of just there. I know it’s crazy to say, but this book needed to be longer in order to flesh out the characters and really make us care. The deaths didn’t hit and I wasn’t even rooting for anyone to win, because I didn’t care.
However, my biggest gripe with this book is the fact that the main character is stupid. I’m sorry, I just have such a hard time reading books when the main character forgets how to use their brain. You tell her the trials are about the seven deadly sins, and when her mentor warns her that she wasn’t always angry somehow that doesn’t tell her that it was the wrath trial. And then she gets a note saying not to take shortcuts, and what’s the first thing she does? Take the easy route. I was getting so frustrated, please use your brain, these are easy things to understand.
But overall I would say this book had potential, it was just poorly executed. This is a debut, so I think the author definitely has the makings of a good writer.
What I enjoyed most about this book was how descriptive it was but it didn’t feel like information overload. I always enjoy stories about fae but what was so interesting about this book was the role of Mother Nature. This book reminded me of the Hunger Games with more romance so if you like sitting on the edge of your seat, wondering how or what contests will survive then this book is for you!!
I appreciate the opportunity but unfortunately I will not be finishing this. I was excited to read this story based on the blurb. However, I couldn't really get into the story or connect to any of the characters.
This was an ARC from a debut indie author, and my first ever book that I’ve preordered - EVER. So when I got the chance to ARC read before release day? I jumped at the chance.
Let me tell you, this is Hunger Games vibes but with fae and the Seven Deadly Sins play a LARGE part and it was everything. All of the trials were so cleverly thought out, with deeper meanings behind every single one, I actually devoured this in one sitting - one hour and 38 minutes to be exact.
If you’re after a romantasy novel with fae and trials and easy to understand lore, with all the opulence we know and love of the fae but the realism of humans blended in.. this is it. I am genuinely gutted that I’ve got to wait SO MF LONG for book 2, because this could so easily become a trophy shelf level series!
Thank you NetGalley, and the publisher for gifiting me a copy of Nature's Tributes.
It was the Hunger Games , but with fae and the trials aim to test the heart of some humans with the seven sins. I was a bit confused at the beginning as the novel starts in medias res, but I managed to understand what was going on about five or six chapters in. It was entertaining, and interesting that humans are considered as "bad" regarding Nature instead of the faes, we would think the opposite.
I enjoyed it overall. I didn't LOVE the main character-Rosalind, but it got better towards the end. I thought the concept of the trials paired to the sins interesting and found the writing good. The character arts at the beginning and at the end were also gorgeous, it was a great addition! I would give it 4 stars.
The concept of this book was really good- but I was looking for a lot more from it sadly. The story felt slow paced and not as high stakes as I expected it to be as it is a deadly trial. There was also far too much description of clothing, jewels and opulence for the length of the book and it felt a bit overkill. Regardless, I would still be interested to see where the story goes from here as I feel like the in the next installment we will see more character and relationship development.
Nature's Tributes turned out to be not the book for me. Going into this story, my only hope was to enjoy it as it's definitely my type of read and it's from a new author to me, so I was excited to read this story. Unfortunately, I could not get into it, and the pace of it killed it for me. Yes, it was that slow! This story had potential, but it just didn't reach it for me. There were a few things I liked about this story but more I disliked. This story dealt with mature situations but didn't feel like a mature/adult read. The characters in this story fae and humans were supposed to be older and mature, but their actions were childish, especially when it came to certain fae characters. I love a good dark read but at the same time I love for the darkness happening in the story to have a reason for why it happens and when it comes to this story that wasn't always the case. The characters were okay, but I can't say that I loved any of them and all of them were forgotten by the last page. There was a lot of childish actions within this story, and I was over it quickly. No matter how much I wanted to enjoy this story, it just wasn't the story for me. However, I would still suggest other readers giving this story a try to find out if this is the story for them. Just because this story wasn't the one for me doesn't mean it won't be a great story for others. My review is just my opinion based on how I felt about this story.
